@1963Willo Hey I think you just invented the next Grizzly Arsenal addition, the Grizzly Relic & Treasure Caddy! Now if I could find someone to work for rusty nails!
@1963Willo - Hi Chad you know you are right just find an old golf buggy, rip the guts out of an old gold bag and put tools in it like your turf flattener, shovels, diggers even extra coils, a lunch bag with a cooler for the coldies on a hot day and you would be set. Preferably a buggy bag with the seat to seat your weary backside on after a solid morning's detecting!
@1963Willo I can see it! LOL! My goodness, I think you should do a video of this if not just for a good chuckle but who knows, maybe you can sell it! LOL! Crap, I am still laughing just thinking of it! Pretty soon we will all have golf carts on our hunts! Although I have a vision of a sod cutter/potato digger/combine that I can drive onto any site and grab all relic and treasure while it lays the sod behind like I was never there! It is only a matter of time!
Great idea Chad, off to the shed to build one now LOL. We have used what we call a 'brush hook' here, like a big long-handled scythe, to flatten areas too, but this is a great idea too - and alot less dangerous LOL. Well done mate, more Grizzly innovation!
@NQExplorers When I was watching your video of that overgrown lot, i came up with this. Sometimes you would not risk a lawn mower on ground you do not know what lies under the overgrowth. But those weed whackers would work great if your allowed to cut the grass. The "Brush Hook" is a great tool as well, but tires you out fast! Great for small areas for sure. I think I may have to make over my enclosed trailer to hold my Grizzly Arsenal! LOL!
Now that is what you call dedication to metal detecting ... there must be an easier way to flatten the grass... I would not do it, too much work because it to swing the coil in a short distance, but then again it could prove to be a valuable asset
@LostTreasureComAU I agree it is a lot of work! But depending on the potential finds that lay in that long grass, it may be well worth it. Another great aspect of this method is being able to know where you have already hunted. You could use it to make a path, hunt that path, then make another path and not double or triple back on yourself or miss large areas with your coil. Kind of like hunting in sand or snow, you can see where you have been.
@OLDGOLD1100 Thanks, I know it will come in handy. That is if I remember to bring it. Right now it is behind my pickup truck seat! But the Research Season has begun here in Minnesota.
Ah ha!! So it's you, Chad, you're the one who's going round the world and making these crop circles? Don't try to wriggle out of it, because you've been caught dead to rights. Lol. :D
@fluoridekid LOL! Damn it! Do you know how much my bling out flying mercury Grizzly UFO cost me to manufacture to get me to all corners of the world just so I can go and ruin a perfectly good field? LOL!
@fishercz20 It may help sniff out finds near iron, but I am not sure if it would go much deeper. Up here where I live the sugar sand is really highly mineralized and it makes it difficult to get the true depth with the etrac. I had to switch to a smaller coil to get some of the depth back. I have the treasure hound for the GTI 2500, It is for larger targets, but that goes deep! But being a field, targets at plow depth should get brought up near surface each Spring/Fall. Great site!
@fishercz20 I got it! I guess I should of looked under my subscriptions, I was subscribed and now remember these videos. Is that a fisher metal detector? Being a field I bet you could hit that site every spring and still pull out great relics. I wonder what the gold bug or etrac would pull out of there? Great hunt and videos! Make more! Hell, half the fun is sharing what you find! Get Grizzly!
If you want to see some of our hunts go to youtube and I think my little brothers name on there is Moneyfinder so look his name/videos up of us hunting the site. Pretty cool. My last post it should of said we did find lots of buttons, 3 ringers etc. Type to fast sometimes, LOL.
The troops were there for only maybe 4 months. The camp was right next to a river. Didnt find and Poop holes. We didnt find lots of buttons, 3 ringers, minnie balls, buck n balls, US belt plate, Eagle breast plate, 1 large cent dated 1855 and other odds n ends. Part of the area is farm field and the other half is praire land so we really like to hunt it in the spring when the praire grass is laying flat. Funny I dont even know where Princeton is. Now I need to mapquest it, LOL.
@fishercz20 That hunt would make a great article for Temerity Magazine! Sounds like you found a ton of great relics. Princeton had a fort as it was the outpost for settlement pre-statehood. Sauk Rapids, Fort Ripley where two other locations with forts or outposts of troops as well. I have yet to recover any evidence yet, but been busy on other sites. I did find one lead muzzle loader bullet in the front of the Princeton Civic Center. It really took me by surprise. Research revealed why.
My favorite place to hunt was a union site by 4000 soldiers at a place just outside Redwood Falls Mn called Camp Pope. They were keeping tabs on the hostile Indians back in 1862. My 4 brothers and I received permission to hunt the area which we did for a few years. Found many relics from the soldiers and also a couple arrowheads. There's an article written about us in the Book "Relic Quest" that just came out not long ago..
@fishercz20 Awesome, Hey about that same time frame Princeton actually had a fort but no one seems to know where it was. My hunch is it lies under Hwy 95 & Rum River Road by the old dam, but I have not found any evidence as of yet. With 4000 troops, you must of had a hay day hunting that location. Any luck on locating any privies of the encampment?
@fishercz20 LOL, that is what I use to think as well, but sometimes you only have a small window of time to accomplish the task. I was surprised that the stocks did not lay down better. But still a great improvement from going into the thicket with expensive detectors. Hey Scott, where do you like hunting the best? For me it is old pioneer farmsteads and pre-statehood sites.
@PeaceHavens Awesome! I hope you take a video, we just received snow last night so my metal detecting days are all but done for 2011. Actually I am glad, I have too many projects like your book, writing, finds cleaning, researching etc. I am actually getting a bit nervous that I have a ton to do this Winter and little to no ambition. This cold just makes me want to hibernate!
This is a great idea so simple now to find a caddy to carry the thing on my hunts!

We both were using Garrett machines. but yes I wish I had an etrac. That would go deep here.
