  • He's clearly talented. Anybody bashing him is doing it because he's gay, not because he can't sing. This is amazing. The combination of his voice and the way he changed around the song is awesome. Credit when credit's due.

  • i dont like adam lambert at all but this is actually good haha

  • OMG. I love Adam singing this on AI, but this version, the whole song.. Freaking Brilliant!!!!!

What a VOICE!!! Anyone with a good ear has to appreciate this!!!!!

  • I don't care who's version is better, Adam sounds amazing and he's perfect the way he is :)

  • This one does have soul if you can't tell what soul is.... this song actually meant things to him he had 1000's of other choices he could have made but no he chose this one... listen to the song and think about who he is and where he came from you'll make a connection... and white people don't have soul? Look at eric clapton and tell me that's not soul... or even stevie ray vaughn tell me they don't have soul...

  • A lot of you are cowardly, jealous, individuals. Post a video of you doing this song better if you think you can. Chances are...not bloody likely.

  • Adam should stick to punk rock he has no soul. White people never did have soul lol

  • @LelandnSonya4eva Bullshit!

  • shit cover listen to six60 do it so much better than this choad

  • All the covers of this guy are amazing.....Whole Lotta LOVE; Born to Be Wild, we are the Champions are only examples

  • His voice is outstanding! ... too bad about his face, style and personality lmao!

  • This is nowhere near as good as sam cooke's. His had soul, this ones just a nice song.

  • 3:08 - 3:18 idk why but when i hear that part..i cry and cry..maybe its cus he preformed this at the finale and im like wtf with this talent how could he not win..or maybe cus i saw this vid and it started james durbin singing that note and they switched it to adam and it sounded really cool but the footage was lik reallly super sad and that was the first time i cried of those 10 seconds

  • Although I like Adam's singing and personal style, other than Sam Cooke, the best versions of this song: Tina Turner/Robert Cray and Luther Vandross.

  • Goodness gracious... his voice gives me goose bumps! Wow!!!

  • Good God! I love you Adam, but this version of "Change" is not good.

  • @masseyford your right its not ''good '' thats too light of a term its actually DAMN NEAR FUCKING PERFECT AND WAY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!!! ADAM LAMBERT YOU ROCK

  • every singer has a unique capability of rendering there own versions.. adam did great job to this song much as to others... hes incomparable!!!!!

  • Man he song the shyt out this song... i mean i felt it... got dam..... i give this man his props...

  • almost every clip I see of adam , I see the same comment Adam is way better then james lol. He always was. But this was a studio recording, vocally not at his best compared to his live stuff.

  • THAT LAST BIG NOTE IS JUST IMMENSE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's wonderful that people appreciate all varieties of music and interpretations, but it's almost impossible to feel anything listening to this for me because it feels like musical masturbation.

The difference in Cooke's version is that you feel a real man is singing a song vs. a plastic figurine with good (ok, amazing:) vocal control. It's hard to be critical of music because I don't want to dilute anyone's musical joy, but please support local musicians who may have more love to share.

  • @riziols yeah true, but this is in studio, different when hes live

  • @3ku1 Check out his live version on the american idol finale-its equally as good.

  • The difference is not the high notes they can hit, but the voice control Adam has getting there. He rides up on those high notes so smooth and just has amazing ability to move those notes up without making you feel he went from zero to 40 without amazing control. Adam definitely has serious vocal control like an opera singer. AMAZING!!!

  • Been a Sam Cooke fan forever, but this kid did the song justice. Seal did a fine job also, but of course Sam will always own this song.

  • my oh my oh my... the best IDOL who never won... Kris who??? Adam, you are SUCH the winner. Success speaks volumes...

  • Definately better than James Durbin.......!

    Love you adam!

  • He´s WAY better than Durbin....

  • shut up ass

  • of course he gotta throw the race card in!!!

  • guy has pipes!!!!!

  • Great song by Adam Lambert!!!!

  • This is just awesome. Wow.

  • hello from Hanoi again.... i dont know Sam Cook but i know who Adam Lambert is

  • I as much as i love him he, HE HAS NO BUSINESS SINGING THIS SONG

you dont mess with Sam Cook and this a negro spiritual! but he sings it well lol

  • @AseAvante Oh shut up you racist bitch. You're probably black

  • @azn0111 HAHAHA its about how black people put up with racism for years you loser ! what do you think "A change is going to come" is about?

  • @auzziecomment10 I know what the song is about. But you saying he has no business signing this song is fucking idiotic. He is openly GAY and he adapted this song to the gay community. Fucking bozo don't try and argue

  • @AseAvante If you are spiritual enough, colour becomes irrelevant

  • he rocks .....

  • this is a song of freedom, from any thing, or any body, and a great song no matter who sings it,

  • Adam is more mainstream pop than james durbin. James durbin changed it completely and made it straight up rock which i also liked.

  • Anyone notice how James Durbin cut two lines in the side of his head, similar to Adam? James also mentioned he wanted to be just like Adam Lambert, -.-

  • 41 people didn't think the change was gonna come.

  • adam rockssss!!!!!

    love u adam!!!!!!!!!!

  • He does have amazing vocals, but I have to say that he doesn't have the emotional tenderness to pull this off. Few do. He still should have won.

  • Probably apart from Adam's version of Mad World, in my opinion, one of the best cover's of a song i've ever heard in my life. 2:34 WOW!!! :D

  • I'm really sorry Sam, I prefer this version of your wonderful song.

  • @mercuryforeva GTFOH!! This fag couldn't touch the late great Sam Cooke with a 100 foot pole, you talking shit cause you can, this version SUCKS ASS!

  • Comment removed

  • @mercuryforeva You're entitled to your opinion, I just don't share it. What I said stands, this version SUCKS BALLS! Next!!

  • @VoiceOfReezun Fair enough doon't share it! lol and no it doesn't suck balls whatsoever.

  • @VoiceOfReezun excuse me..may i ask u something ? who the hell is Sam Cooke?

  • @OhMyLambert the guy that came out with this song years ago

  • @OhMyLambert The man who wrote the song. His version comes up on the sidebar and in the suggestions after the video is over. Seriously, how did you even manage to turn your computer on?

  • WOW! If you liked this, you really do owe it to yourself to go check out all these other artist's versions too. Matt Doyle, a group I never heard of before called SOLO, make sure you check out Gavin Degraw's live version from the Whiskey-a-go-go (1080). Trying to say who's the best is a personal matter, also check Seal, & Terrance Trent d Arby. (for something different, check out d'Arby's uptempo version of the Stone's Under-My-Thumb)

  • @zzinzel Check Sam Cooke's the original too :p haha

  • He's amazing.

  • Am I really the only one who thinks that Adam's version of this song is the best out there (and yes, better than Matt Doyle...)?

  • @wigg1es you are not the only one :)

  • @wigg1es I disagree wholeheartedly on that point. This version is good, and no, you're not alone. There's PLENTY of other people out there who like Adam over Matt. But it all comes to personal taste.

  • Adam's is good, but Matt Doyle just OWNS this song. ^_^ Matt Doyle FTW! <3 And Adam too! Just not with this song. :P

  • @DC11961 I searched Matt's version on the strength of what you typed here, and I must admit I was REALLY skeptical, but I listened to his version and was BLOWN away! I've never heard anyone, white or black sing that song like that, and I'm black by the way. Thanks!

  • @VoiceOfReezun Oh, you're welcome. :D I didn't know how to type up how incredible Matt's version was, so I guess I just settled for layman's terms. ^_^ And I know! :O there have have been so many versions of that song, but Matt's I have to say, is, in my opinion the most genuine of them all. Plus his falsetto was amazing as well. :D But now I'm rambling so I'll just stop lol.

  • @DC11961 I still think Adam is better, after listening to Matt Doyle, he can't dream of maintaining the notes that Adam can live, although that guy is still good.

  • @mercuryforeva Well it's nice to know that more people are aware of his voice and talent as not many people outside the "Spring Awakening" community know. But I have to disagree on one thing. I think Matt would be to maintain those notes as good as, if not better, than Adam had those high notes been in his range. But they're not so hats off to Adam for that. =)

  • @DC11961 I understand where you are coming from, but I will have to just disagree my friend :) as I feel Adam is phenomenal live and can glide into higher notes effortlessley and it seems he can maintain the notes better within his range, well his range is pretty much faultless, mad world is an example of his lower range; listen to him sing it live; perfect :), and have a listen to A whole lotta a love. The power in his voice! I bet Matt could extend his range if he really wanted! Practice! haha

  • @mercuryforeva No doubt about anything of what you said. :) I agree 100% with you. And hehe it's not that easy. Through a LOT of extensive training maybe. :) we'll see. They're both still pretty young guys. :D Only a 5 year gap I believe.

  • Comment removed

  • @mercuryforeva Oi. That's a bit low. Everyone has their own personal tastes. So you can't exactly go around saying that people's tastes "suck" or that their "decent" because again, it comes down to personal taste. And no I'm serious, it's hard. But not impossible. A year and a half ago, my highest note was an Eb5, and now thanks to vocal training, it's an A5 natural. And meh. I feel like Adam is more dance/house nowadays because rock 'n' roll he is NOT.

  • @DC11961 It is generally true though which is unfortunate it seems, maybe due to the over commercialisation of so called "R n B" in the music charts which sometimes leads to some people being sheep to the music industry and not exploring music. Instead the majority of chart music is autotuned and for the most not even written by the artists that profess, so that is my point :) I reckon the under exposure due to the media has lead to the blindfolding in some cases of musical genre.

  • @DC11961 Awesome, I'm a singer myself and like to push myself with notes, but it all comes down to musical control when it comes to vocals. I wouldn't say Adam is dance and house. He is originally theatre trained and has gone to sell records which are pop records; but he has the ability to release some rock material; he is well capable and has proven that. Like we say, he is still only young, but he hs sang with some of the worlds best rock stars and they have approved him.

  • @mercuryforeva I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the future brings then but I agree...again lol.

  • @DC11961 I wouldn't go as to far to say that peoples music tastes suck, and I agree that it is all down to personal taste, but I think that unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be alot of exposure of other genre through the charts, (few and far between) which leads people to become blinkered and thus not forming a full personal music taste if you know what I mean; after exploring, then people still prefer Britney Spears over Aretha Franklin and Adele, then i'm ok with that :)

  • Search: A Change Is Gonna Come Gavin Degraw

  • @Elle0011 Yeah, his version is really good too, but I give a slight edge to Matt Doyle's version, both really good though!

  • I just LOVE his version of this.....not to mention that picture above.

    Yummy! =0)

  • Matt Doyle's version of this song with forever be my favorite. <3

  • @britneyAM Me too. =D Glad someone mentioned him. Isn't he amazing? ^_^ <3

  • This is the best version of this song that I've ever heard.

  • 2:34 :-o OMG :D

  • Leaves me breathless.

  • HORRIFIC

  • Im not tryn to hate on Kris Allen but HOW did Adam Lambert not win. Am I missing something. Can somebody explain this to me.

  • @GTalah this song explains it perfectly why he didn't win. Apparently America isn't ready for a Gay Idol

  • Adam 0 be yourself, not the person presented under ""For your entertainment. Let your voice fly my talented one.

    Cindy

  • that is so wowwer wowwer..... amazing

  • ok i like yor voice is wonderful....but i hate the way u sing this song....

  • good...! but not betta than gavin degraw!!!!

  • HOLY.FUCKING.SHIT! HIS VOICE AT 3:11 IS AMAZING

  • He definitely has a great voice; that is obvious. Thought I'm not much a fan of "singers," I'll listen to Lambert any day of the week.

  • like sam cookes better u need soul nd heart to sang a song lke this nd he aint got soul

  • Now please do not compare Adam and James Durbin anymore....

  • @xentafy they really sounded the same when he hit those high notes

  • I would use perfect to describe him but that's an understatement.

  • Jeez his voice blows me away...

  • this version completely blows

  • Got nothing on Sam Cooke.... looks does not match Soul

  • @xg1optimusprimex yes it does!! adam looks good and his soul is goo!!

  • @xg1optimusprimex They does not? Okay.

  • 37 people dont like a little glitter around their eye.

  • 37 people dont a little glitter around their eye.

  • He's a really great singer. Almost Every time i hear him sing, he gives me goose bumps. He is such a talented guy. Keep up the good work Lambert!

  • This would be a nice cover if he knew anything about what he's singing about. -.-

  • @ForgetToFallDown he does... people say this song is all about the civil rights movement and such, which it is. But adam has interpreted it in a new way. This song has a new meaning. It can be about anyone who has been pushed down and stomped on. No matter who you are or where u are from. Listen to the live version... so much passion

  • I don't like the distorted guitar,, this isn't a distorted guitar kinda song, who produced this? they outta be slapped. And comparisons to Sam Cooke and Elvis ? puleeeze

  • I would never in a hundred years imagine Adam Lambert cover this song, and yet he did, and did it so well I was left speechless. Besides the original Sam Cooke version, Adam's version is by far the best cover of this iconic song.

  • @Entvyify I don't think so...in my opinion. You should take a listen to these version

    1) Sam cooke

    2) Gavin Degraw

    3) Otis Redding

    4) Adam lambert

    5) Seal

    6) Solo

  • @anklebreaka03 I did check out all the versions you mentioned and more before the previous comment. I think it's probably a personal preference thing. I do like Gavin Degraw's version very much, but there are points in the arrangement I just didn't like (and the fact that it's a bit too slow). I also had issues with Seal's arrangement. As I mentioned in the previous comment, obviously as the classic Sam Cooke's version can't be touched.

  • Thank you SO much for posting this! I've been looking for the studio recording of this fo SO long, youo would not BELIEVE how happy I am that I've found this ..... x } xD *SO HAPPY*

  • Besides, we've got to accept that it's really hard for musicians today to be remembered the same way 'classics' are remembered. I loooove Adam Lambert (he's got such a strong voice and can hit any note he wants to hit perfectly well, and I can't believe he didn't win American Idol either), but I think the person that will be the 'classic' of this era is Lady Gaga. Maybe the Black Eyed Peas. With soooo many bands and musicians these days, it's just....gotten really tough.

  • @urwhatthewho eat shit u stupid nobody...I don't like it and if u don't like my comment go cry in ur pillow jacass..grow some

  • I don't agree, many people under the age of 40 know Sam Cooke.

  • @phsycocat I know sam cooke :)

  • @phsycocat I know sam cooke :) oh and im sixteen. lol

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, no doubt Lambert can sing. But really, no one should EVER touch a classic, done PERFECTLY by a legend, in this case Sam Cooke. When you attempt to do something of this magnitude, the only way you can go is down, and thats exactly where Lambert has brought this song with his performance. Just my honest opinion.

  • @YAFOORLY Yep, this song was done perfectly by Sam Cooke. There is only version of this song I like by someone else is Aretha Franklin. She performs a remake of the song and a tribute to Sam Cooke, all in one. If you haven't heard it, check it out.

  • me is panda, panda likes ADAM =3

  • adam lambert <3 c:

  • Damn good!

  • OMG tell this guy to stay out of the soul section! STOP IT! These song don't need his help

  • @dawnabolical shut the fuck up

  • Fucking amazing!

  • Thanks for ruining one of my favorite songs.

    Sam Cooke was a musician.

Not saying this kid can't sing, but he's a fucking gimmick.

  • @noogies what the hell are you talking about. why is he a gimmick? dumb comment

  • @urwhatthewho

All American Idol is a gimmick. He's only famous for that rubbish show and being ridiculously gay. His 15 minutes are up. We'll all for get about him in a few years, but no one's gonna forget Sam Cooke.

  • @noogies Another dumb comment, and nobody under the fucking age of 40 knew who the fuck SAM COOK was until this man sang his broke ass song. You're just another hate filled homophobe. Eat a dick bitch. And if you think 15 minutes is what this guy is about, then you should really check into a hospital because you're not coping with reality. You probably need meds. dumb fucker

  • @urwhatthewho

I'm not a fucking homophobe. I don't know how you drew that conclusion. And that's because kids today are fucking morons that eat this trash up. You fucking retard.

  • woah <3

  • Never heard anyone better than you Adam! Your my fav!!! Keep it up! i love you... even if you are gay i still love you!!!!!

  • all the hot dudes have to be fucken gay!!!!!!!!!!

  • @123kaladancer

    agreed

  • @asoid101

adam labert is not a faggot

  • @asoid101 FUCK YOU.

  • luv this song

  • Doesn't Adam just make u feel sooooo alive? Oh hell yeah.....

  • isn't dis on hairspray?

  • wonderful voice. imho i think adam should have replaced freddie in queen

  • This is one of my favorites. Adam is just one in a billion, like it or not

  • what is wrong with people that hate gays??? fuck I hope some of them have sons that gonna end up being gays than see if they call them FAGGOTS

  • bless adam lambert fark what haters say

  • I will never be able to hear this song sung by anyone else. Adam Lambert is what amazing talent looks and sounds like...he just shut this song DOWN!!! Thanks for posted this song

  • @kekoE9 begging your pardon, i believe sam would be proud that his music lives on in the youth of today. thanks for your opinion, but if you dont like it you dont have to listen to it. although i understand where you are coming from, my friend, the song does actually say, "change is gonna come" lol. i think thats EXACTLY what it's about.

  • @kekoE9 go eat some coock-ies you dum azz! :P

  • this is absolutely the worst cover of this song EVER, and there's a lot

  • @hollywoodgrindhouse1

Then why are you wasting your time commenting about it?

  • @hollywoodgrindhouse1 Hey! You must be from the planet of inverse reality. Welcome to Earth.

  • Well, as a homosexual I'm pretty sure he knows something about persecution and discrimination.

  • i love this n he rocks !!!!!!

  • it was good but kinda lacking... i think i like the live version better from AI and especially the one from the zodiac show. nonetheless HE is still the BEST for me!

  • he had me sold on the third word of this song

  • Amazing voice

  • I swear, why does he have to waste his HOTNESS on men, I would totally be his COUGAR....

  • @cataloger1kimberlya Sorry....that job is already filled. lol

  • @TheLambertCougar lol...oh well, I tried!

  • I love Adam's music and this version of A CHANGE IS GONNA COME is beyond amazing.

  • Every word, every note, everything that he sings is pure GOLD!!!!!

    Loveee him tooo muchh!!

  • I made an account just to give my love and praise to this song <3

  • Brilliant! Entertainer of century. No disrepect Elvis but a new kid is in town. Fantastic voice, beautiful to look at, and a voice that can charm angels and devils.

  • @Wolfiemouse Sorry bud but he's definitely not the entertainer of the century. There are better people out there. He's good but I wouldn't say he's the best. Elvis, Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, etc.

  • @cuongoff Listen to his 'unplugged' versions; there is also versions called 'stripped' .. the less backup, the better he is. Would also say the folks you mentioned were entertainers of the last century. This guy is like the 'energizer bunny' when it comes to full entertainment venues. He did over 100 shows this last year in the US, and a bunch more overseas, and every show was packed! Was lucky enough to go in person to one, and the very large crowd basically stood for the whole performance.

  • @Wolfiemouse You said: "Brilliant! Entertainer of century. No disrespect Elvis but a new kid is in town. Fantastic voice, beautiful to look at, and a voice that can charm angels and devils." -- Having heard Elvis's opinions of other great singers, I believe he would have thoroughly agreed with everything you've said about Adam Lambert! Everything...

  • @mieleD Thanks for commenting. It is wonderful to know that there are others out there that see and hear what I do. I feel so unalone! Cool.

  • Just gorgeous!!!!

  • Wow, he puts hot in Hotty.

The Guy Liner, The leather, That earring and his hair spiked, Wow.

Btw all the people who dont like him, Get their ears tested

    Kthxbai

  • Adam can move the world alone....that's all that I can say.....a great entertainer!

  • check out the idol finale performance and you'll see that he means this song.

  • This is so amazing. ♥
