Howdy people! We just threw a cover up on our channel of this beauuuutiful song!! If anyone is kind enough to check it out i'll give you 3 trillion dollars!!!! THANKYOU!
So much irrelevant, non-contextual garbage was said by the Moral Majority when this song was released, and today all that seems so irrelevant and absurd.
THIS, people, is what music is about - Bruce at his prime - gives 4 hour concerts like it ain't no thing!
America is redeemed just with Bruce. This is the truth.
i hate this "im under 20 and like this music"-fuck. your age has nothing to do wether your music-taste is cool or not. its music, its timeless. no matter if you are 90 oder 19.
95% of teens these days listen to the same formulaic, crappy pop over and over again. If you're one of the 5% who still listens to real music, thumb this up, then copy and paste it to at least five videos. Don't let the spirit of rock and roll die!
@Mightynr1 dude... the guys you mentioned were basically just the modern and 80ish equivalents. Most of their stuff was just popular and formulaic music. That's pretty much all music since the invention of rock & roll.... it's sad but it's true. I love rock & roll, dont get me wrong. But it's just ignorant to say that Taylor Swift sucks and just writes the same stupid song over and over again, when AC/DC has been doing the same thing since they started.
@captaindillo All the bands and musicians you mentioned are great! i love AC/DC and hendrix though there is no question about musical skill ;) (VOODOO CHILD *___*)
I would lie if I said Springsteen's music is my favourite, I normally don't listen to his music because I never really got into contact with it, I'm 19, all I got was a song or two in music education or something, and normally this would be too slow, too soft of a song for my taste. However, it's an exception. It's all about exceptions for me. I don't listen to classical music too much, but I eventually do once in a while. Same goes for folk, techno, hip hop
i hear it today on the radio and i heard i t for a couple times on the radio and i'm sorry for my bad english, i asked my mom what the name of this song is and she told me :
Bruce springsteen - i'm on fire and i born in 89* but i prefer the songs before i was born and just what shaneac9 writed in the top comments just listen it whit your eyes closed because it's soooooooooooooooo beautiful!!!!
On the last train of the night in Tokyo, from one end of the line to the other. Unbelievably crowded and claustrophobic. I put this song on a loop on my iPod, closed my eyes, and I was in a completely different place. Amazing song.

@PimpMyNickname The monologue is about bruce's childhood.. he has referred to his Dad alot and always has the same story to tell about his Dad waiting up for him when he got home.. it's a classic Bruce story

@calogeiro Search "I'm on fire bruce springsteen live" the second one the sky is a perfect orangish/yellow/pink. So beautiful. Also fits the song perfectly(:
@OFFENDOR OK dude. Anyway, those two posts were Bruce's story about his dad before the song started. That's what I was talkin about with those two back-to-back posts - just writing down what Bruce said.
I remember...growing up...at night...my dad would sit in the kitchen...with all the lights out...and he'd wait for me to come in. And he'd sit there and drink...and I'd stand in the driveway. And I'd look into the screen door...and I could see the light of the cigarette. And then I'd rush up on the porch and try to get by him...but he'd always call me back.
@bottleimp007 WOW! reading this and hearing him saying it.... brings back flashbacks! Sounds JUST like my years at home before I left for the Army! I was so happy to get out of there... I didn't like him, hated him really.. he was always drunk beating my mom and me (well aleast until I was old enough to protect myself and mom) Then I was a "PUNK"!
But when he died, I was in Germany and couldn't get back, after I hung up the phone, I slid onto the floor and cried. I guess I loved him after all.
@WOWayne325 There is a lot in that story WOW - its a great one. My dad was also a drinker & smoker and had a really negative attitude. It caused mom a lot of grief, but you'd never be able to tell, not even until the day she passed - she was the absolute greatest positive force in our lives. Dad wasn't a bad guy but on so many things he just didn't get it.
In life, at some point sooner or later, we can come to a realization or a peace - some people I think never have that. I'm glad you did.
@bottleimp007 Yea Thanks... Never thought about if he was disappointed with his life... always thought he was disappointed with me... he always would say I'd never amount to much... ha fooled you dad!
Got a best wife ever and 2 wonderful kids...
Or maybe the drinking come from trying to ease the pain he was living with (died of a brain tumor).
Well, if I learned anything from him... I have never beaten my wife or kids! Thanks dad for making me a better dad than you were!
That was an amazing story. It touched me even though we have very different stories. I can relate to getting a phone call that completely tore through me. One of my best friends committed suicide less then a year ago. He and I were to be married at one point. This song resonates through me when I think of him. I can't offer many condolences since they would seem out of place from a total stranger but I can say that I relate to what you posted. Best wishes.
@AmishPornStar1986 Yea, Thanks for the comment... Sorry for your loss! But, in both situations, we have to learn to live on! All the best to you also!
And it was like...he was always...always angry...always mad. But he's sittin there thinkin about everything that he wasn't ever gonna have...until...until he'd get me thinkin like that too. And I'd lay up in my bed...at night...and be starin at the ceiling...and feel like if somethin didn't happen...if somethin didn't happen that soon...it felt like I was just gonna...like someday...like I was just gonna...UHHHHH!
The guy was INTENSE! The commentary about his Dad seems more of a lament for lost working class dreams, but we ladies get the real tension here! Gorgeous voice, music & delivery, but gals, you KNOW what I be talkin' bout!! Thank you, poster!
i think he means that his dad was thinking about what he couldnt have and bruce didnt want to be like his dad with unforfilled dreams picking on his son so when he says' if something didnt happen then soon.....' he means soon hes gonna end up like his horrible dad thats why theres a sense of urgancy in the song and the desire is to do something before its too late. im probably wrong but thats my interpretation
i dont think anyone really knows what they just heard Bruce let out there. You don't simply tell crowds of millions onstage about your father on the porch waiting up for you so he can put your ass down.... for him to be onstage with all the fame BornT.R. and Born in theUSA gave him and still NOT forget what got him going back when... he tells it for us, he hopes we get what he means, he's just telling a story while he has a second
I FUCKKKKIN LOVEEEEEEEEEE THIS SONGGGGGGGGGGGG!! reminds me soo much of when i was kid and my mum and dads divorce.... but he sings it with fire and passion.... my fave song of alllllll time...amazingggggg!!! sorry to use the expressive letters but this song means sooooo much to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! gorgeoues wee song...<3

The guy was INTENSE! The commentary about his Dad seems more of a lament for lost working class dreams, but we ladies get the real tension here! Gorgeous voice, music & delivery, but gals, you KNOW what I be talkin' bout!! Thank you, poster!

Springsteen seems like a really passionate artist. He really gets into telling the story, eh?

i think he means that his dad was thinking about what he couldnt have and bruce didnt want to be like his dad with unforfilled dreams picking on his son so when he says' if something didnt happen then soon.....' he means soon hes gonna end up like his horrible dad thats why theres a sense of urgancy in the song and the desire is to do something before its too late. im probably wrong but thats my interpretation

i dont think anyone really knows what they just heard Bruce let out there.
