Just a note - Some good anti-virus programs are: Kaspersky, avast!, Malwarebytes (of course), Avira, and Bitdefender. I don't recommend Norton, because it likes to ignore the really bad infections and call out safe programs. It also has the habit of burrowing into your system so that it takes the jaws of life to get it out.
No matter what, you have to make sure that whichever program you have is up-to-date, because in teh internetz 24 hours can make a huge difference.
@jackyboi342534563 You need to turn off your computer and then turn it back on. The second you see ANY picture appear on the screen (windows flag/swirly lights, loading bar, etc) IMMEDIATELY begin tapping f8. Keep tapping it until it brings up a black and white screen asking how you want to start the computer.
Start it in Safe Mode WITH networking. Then follow the steps in this video.
Just turn off your computer, go to safe starter, then at the task maneger turn off the viruses process (you may recognise him as "someshortname".exe). then just full scan your pc with your antivirus. ^^

Security Defender just effected my computer as well, but Microsoft Security Essentials cleaned my computer and deleted it for free, install MSE now it works!!!!!

Does this technique work for backdoor trojans? I have a pesky one at the moment. My MSE picks up some parts of the virus and removes it but it always comes back. Im currently running in safe mode ( as i dont want the virus to infect much more ) and i ran a scan with microsoft safety scanner. It picked up 3 more files. Im not too sure if the problem will be fixed..
Okay, soo i dont know if this'll help but, i got a Windows 7 Security 2011 Virus on my computer(is a brother virus to this one), it completely cut off my ability to access the internet and everything, So what i did was exactly what he did, installed malwarebytes with USB drive and stuff, then went into safe mode, right clicked on malwarebytes and then clicked run as administrator, somehow this gets malwarebytes going, Run a quick scan, quarantine the infected files, and Done.
This is on my mom's computer. On MY computer I have AVG (and RegCure, excellent!) never had a problem. I love it. Meanwhile, I have to figure this mess out.
I wish I could use this but I can't access an internet page, run, msconfig, regedit or anything. This sucks! I can access Task Manager, but of course this program is not showing there. :(
always back up info, when you 1st get the machine be it desktop or laptop make recovery disks ( I know you want to test out your new computer but better safe than sorry) some companies like dell give you utility disks and a windows os disk so you don't have to burn any. then when all else fails pop in the windows disk and set cmos to boot off of cd, reformat the hard drive and enjoy your new-ish computer.

the funny thing is I had it on here for a couple days and I had another Trojan that just hit me in that wouldn't let me do anything until I control alt delete the program that it was running it. And I'm hopefully my antivirus software got rid of the Trojan or that virus that was on there a few hours ago before I did this.
I really hope this works the funny thing is after I run one program seem to come rid of it right right after I run my virus scan all my software. Is not showing any viruses right now or any of that software but I hope it doesn't get any worse right now. After looking at other Google results on the topic that suggested reg edits (which I don't know enough about to do without risking screwing up something else), I found this video. On my Dell PC I encountered the WIN 7 HOME SECURITY virus or trojan. I followed the instructions in a forum on Yahoo. What worked for me was to restart the computer in "safe mode" and download the "rkill" program from there. The processes it found and terminated were the InfDefault.Install.exe and runonce.exe in the SysWOW64 files of the Windows folder. I DL and ran Malwarebytes to remove five offending files. Upon restarting, a Microsoft removal tool it found Rogue: Win32/FakeRean... Thanks

@poopzy13 It modifies registry entries and forcefully terminates files using SYSTEM32 so its detected as a false positive virus because if used incorrectly could do severe damage.
One solution on how to remove a virus is Type in on the search bar "MS Config" And hit "System Restore" This unfortunatley does Remove EVERYTHING off the HDD but it is the only way an as soon as you go to the infected website or download Immediatley Disconnect form the internet (Router) I hope this helps but that is the only way i suggest if you wish to remove it manually visit a youtube video.
I found it easier, when helping people with virus' like these, to boot to safe mode with networking and download malwarebytes and run the scan from there.
@malwarebytesdotorg fair enough. A friend had the "system tools" virus and I could only get rid of it in safe mode. A friend got this one today and I had him do the same, figured it would be easier than going through the hassle of multiple downloads and risking them getting corrupted somehow. Good vid tho!

I have been hit by this so many times until i started using "webroot"it is the only anti virus program i have tested so far the can nip it in the bud,but i would do a cold shut down,hitting the breaker to turn off comp,then use cyberscrub and ccleaner and webroot windows washer.this one is a real bitch.i am testing the avast internet security for a month now so who knows if it will detect it.I think i my have picked it up from a fake torrent.or site.malwarebytes is great,but webroot prevents it.
The only thing I'd say that would make your fix easier is to restart you PC in safe mode, get online, download the free version of MALBYTES and run it, do a quick scan, remove detections, restart PC and it will be gone.
i would just like to advise everyone that viruses are usually 1-4kb so if your meant to be downloading a program think how big would this program be usually there bigger than 1mb this should save u getting the virus in the first plce

@MYBIGKINDHEART This sounds like something has messed up your windows operating system. Once I had a problem, my background would load, but there were no icons to click on. I still had my original Windows disk, so I put it in the computer and did a "repair install", there is a long code number on the side of your computer u will need. It worked for me, and saved my files. U might also have to take your computer to a professional.

I really hope this works the funny thing is after I run one program seem to come rid of it right right after I run my virus scan all my software. Is not showing any viruses right now or any of that software but I hope it doesn't get any worse right now. I'm glad I believe you you look like a trustful face on the Internet about this kind of thing. I appreciate your help if this worked. Hopefully it doesn't leave anything else on my computer.

I had the 2011 "version" of this virus and the information in this video was useful. After looking at other Google results on the topic that suggested reg edits (which I don't know enough about to do without risking screwing up something else), I found this video. Follow the instructions, it still works. Thanks Scutter, you saved me a lot of time and/or money.

Rkill is the most useful program on the net. recommend to everyone to download it, save it to desktop and rename it to "Iexplore.exe" !!!
has worked 3/3 times so far.

Hello Scutter l just wan'ted to thank you personally your advice and directions saved my bacon,l was almost at the point of reinstalling my software,l have lost some data mostly photos and l have created a restore point from before this problem occured not 100% better but its at point where things will start to come back or i can correct things hopefully....so a big thanks

On my Dell PC I encountered the WIN 7 HOME SECURITY virus or trojan. I followed the instructions in a forum on Yahoo. What worked for me was to restart the computer in "safe mode" and download the "rkill" program from there. The processes it found and terminated were the InfDefault.Install.exe and runonce.exe in the SysWOW64 files of the Windows folder. I DL and ran Malwarebytes to remove five offending files. Upon restarting, a Microsoft removal tool it found Rogue: Win32/FakeRean... Thanks

i had it once, it would not let on the internet, some how it messed up and let on the internet for like 5mins, so i downloaded spybot and it got rid of it. spybot saved my life

omg I just have to say that I have read so many forums and downloaded sooo many virus removing programs and nothing worked until I watched your video! Thank you so much for putting this up. THANKS!!! Your video got me thru, Not only did i receive all the pop up messages that you did, I got pop ups saying that my executable files were corrupt, SCARY! I had to run in safe mode to install rkill and Malware bytes. After the clean I had to replace my windows background as it still had the one that was inserted by the malware. I also installed a new antivirus program called avast after the clean. My existing software (Webroot) did not catch this attack. Again Thank you!!!!!!

@poopzy13 It modifies registry entries and forcefully terminates files using SYSTEM32 so its detected as a false positive virus because if used incorrectly could do severe damage.

One solution on how to remove a virus is Type in on the search bar "MS Config" And hit "System Restore" This unfortunatley does Remove EVERYTHING off the HDD but it is the only way an as soon as you go to the infected website or download Immediatley Disconnect form the internet (Router) I hope this helps but that is the only way i suggest if you wish to remove it manually visit a youtube video.

I found it easier, when helping people with virus' like these, to boot to safe mode with networking and download malwarebytes and run the scan from there.

Fyi.. We are designed to work the best in normal mode. Safe mode should only be used when we won't run in normal mode.

@malwarebytesdotorg fair enough. A friend had the "system tools" virus and I could only get rid of it in safe mode. A friend got this one today and I had him do the same, figured it would be easier than going through the hassle of multiple downloads and risking them getting corrupted somehow. Good vid tho!

This little shit of a virus will not let me access the internet as well as trying to FORCE me to buy their fake programs. Is there anything you can do? I'm using my brothers laptop. I've downloaded this malwarebytes anti virus programme which I know works because i've used it before. I'm trying to follow instructions to download it on here, put it on a usb stick and then transfer it to my infected laptop. The problem i'm having is actually opening the programme and letting it work its magic????

Thank YOU THANK YOU!! I have a great program to get rid of this (Spybot -Search and Destroy), well actually my computer got infected with a newer version called 'Antivirus' or something like that, I just couldn't get the program to run properly because the stupid virus kept interrupting the process. The 'roadkill' program was a Godsend! Again thank you so much for this wonderfully simple video.

I wouls like to thank you so much for this, I had this virus twice in a week and first time round Spybot removed however everything was failing today. I had this virus first time round and today it was "MEMORY SCAN" - Same thing as before. You have helped me out an awful lot and just to let you know I am in Ireland so u are helping ppl all over the world 10/10 :-)
Also I have android comp which has not been affected so does look like windows only at present

I have been hit by this so many times until i started using "webroot"it is the only anti virus program i have tested so far the can nip it in the bud,but i would do a cold shut down,hitting the breaker to turn off comp,then use cyberscrub and ccleaner and webroot windows washer.this one is a real bitch.i am testing the avast internet security for a month now so who knows if it will detect it.I think i my have picked it up from a fake torrent.or site.malwarebytes is great,but webroot prevents it.

The only thing I'd say that would make your fix easier is to restart you PC in safe mode, get online, download the free version of MALBYTES and run it, do a quick scan, remove detections, restart PC and it will be gone.

i would just like to advise everyone that viruses are usually 1-4kb so if your meant to be downloading a program think how big would this program be usually there bigger than 1mb this should save u getting the virus in the first plce

@MYBIGKINDHEART This sounds like something has messed up your windows operating system. Once I had a problem, my background would load, but there were no icons to click on. I still had my original Windows disk, so I put it in the computer and did a "repair install", there is a long code number on the side of your computer u will need. It worked for me, and saved my files. U might also have to take your computer to a professional.
