Did you know that.... Most of the animatronics of Horizons are still alive? Well, not exactly. There stored UNDER the Carousel Theater (Carousel of Progress). There parts are used for the Carousel Family.
@omg122448 Journey Into Imagination has been gone (Ishould say it got totally ruined) before Horizons was taken away from us. I too miss the original JII ride, it was much more imaginative and colourful.
rides like Horizons and Motion where of the EXCELLENT rides that made Epcot different, creative and nothing short of amazing, I don't understand why they destroy them, if they have problems they should just upgrade them, they have the space to build more rides like test drive and mission to mars, IS A GOOD THING Michael Eisner isn't in charge anymore, is also sad to see how they took out the submarines in WDW
@maksuco I think that the sponsors of the attractions wanted them changed. It's all about the almighty dollar. I loved the old attractions much better and so do my kids!
@don19491 Hi Don, I understand the dollar power, but do they understand that by making the rides better, they get better advertising, I feel they think people dont want to learn at a theme park. I recently got on the Nemo ride in EPCOT, what a disaster, as simpler as it gets, I guess they think that just by naming nemo everything will be alright. on the good side I went for my third time to Soaring and i still GREATTT
@maksuco Interesting I never saw the nemo ride but I did go to the Epcot Dive quest but yeah its all about the dollar since you dont get a T-shirt anymore you get a BAG

Diseny is trying to make rides more modern for a younger culture who are seaking thrill rides, they are destorying the classical beauty these parks had!!
There is no need for this! Even if they are "Ot-Dated" they have a beauty and passion, that newer, "cooler" thrill rides, cant replace !!
@Luisd188 Eh, I dunno about bringing back World of Motion lol. They need to bring back Wonders of Life (yes, the ENTIRE pavilion) and either Food Rocks or Kitchen Kabaret.
Oh man... got a little teary eyed on that one. I'm still mourning Horizons. Thank you for posting this video and the memories. I used to love the "desert farming" part. I can still smell the oranges now... :.o)
I call it flawed because there is always a problem with these type of attractions that try to predict the future. By the time the ride is built a technology may have already come to fruition and after a few years pass by the vision will become hokey and outdated. The future is not set, no fate but what we make.
You people are getting too emotional over a very flawed ride. I don't see how you feel the new EPCOT as is any worse than the old antiquated one.
If you would listen to what Walt said which is "Disneyland/ DisneyWorld will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world. "
It means things will come and go, with new and better things. Besides you had the RCA Future Home and SE too show you more accurate visions of the future.
@Clay3613 There's nothing wrong with changing the parks, but change them for a the better. Mission:Space is nothing but the "Gravitron" with a bigger budget and Test Track is a ride in a convertible. The only difference between it and a real car is the high bank turn. How inspiring.
Horizons wasn't about accurately predicting the future. It was about the dreams of tomorrow. Will any of it come true? Who knows? Its about inspiring ideas for the future.
Gosh..I miss this ride..Disney is getting a little off it's track I think with it's new stuff. Epcot presently doesn't make me feel excited for the future...really it makes me feel like I need to decide between Hannah Montana or The Jonas Brothers..

I miss Horizons so much! I saw it for the first time at 12 and was in love. I was so sad when I went back to discover it was gone...
I love the part where they play It's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow, makes me think of another favorite-Carousel of Progress!

I miss this ride :( I remember riding it when I was younger, it'll always be "Disney when I was a kid"....
What was cool is the futuristic outlook of everything. I wish Epcot still had that around for my kids to experience.
