the shows arent anything alike. degrassi is a fun watch, but skins is real. they talk like real teenagers, do the thigns they do. it's like they're talking, not the writers. it's 4 millions time better. probably one of the best series i've had the pleasure of watching.
there was an american version of SKINS on for about 4 episodes and it got cancelled. so no its not off degrassi
Degrassi The Next Generation is a Canadian show and the original series Degrassi Junior High that aired in the late 80's to early 90's was a little bit more realistic. The next gen of Degrassi was good in the first, second and third season. Then is became really popular and aired in America and then the show producers began to care more about glits and glamor and trendy teens instead of making a realistic show. The Actors from the first three season were wikid not it's so shitty and fake!!!

I've only just now watched a couple of these clips from it, and I gotta say, this seems very similar to the American or Canadian (unfamiliar with that show also so I really don't know which it is) show Degrassi, which I just caught a few minutes of on here yesterday. I just wanted to know if any of you guys know whether one of these shows was modeled after the other because the story lines are like parallel.
No you have to watch Skins series 1 and 2 and then the third series which is currently on with a different cast since the first cast graduated. It's way better than Degrassi Next Generation and trust me I've seen the original Degrassi Junior High from the eighties that was way better also!!! Skins is grittier and because it's British there's not so much censorship unlike the Canadian drama Degrassi. It was good first three seasons but now it's appealing to American teens and it sucks now!
