But the reality is, it was NBC's fault for pushing Conan past midnight and saying "Take it or leave it."

Seems you Jay haters are very mean. Conan and Jay are both great, even though Conan has tried to take Jay's job since 1994. Both want to work, neither are bad.
Conan didn't hurt the franchise. Conan was equal with Letterman in the 18-50 age range that advertisers pay for--despite the fact he had an unprecedentedly bad lead. Leno in prime time did so bad affiliates threatened to leave.
Leno's strength, and the only reason he gets better numbers than Letterman or Conan, is the over-55 crowd, which advertisers DO NOT pay for.
NBC made the decision for personal reasons. Zucker's hated Conan since they were at Harvard together. NBC will regret it.

Leno was in real trouble in the beginning. NBC actually tried to get Dave Letterman to agree to being a backup plan for them. If Leno continued to tank - Letterman would take over.

Letterman basically gave Leno the respect that any comic would give to another comic. And years later - Leno would completely fail to do the same for Conan.
I bet Jay "No Balls" Leno will be canceled along with the tonight show, NBC has screwed a one of their only successful shows just because they don't want to cut Leno from their lineup, at least Conan had respect for Jimmy and refused to be moved to a later time for him and Jimmy.

He was pretty arrogant and cocky, no wonder Kevin is leaving him, he's probably fed up with Lenos crap and the constant use of Kevin as his whipping boy. I do not know how Leno will fair, we'll see if he can reclaim the so called spot that he previously had. I for one will be watching him much less since this incident and a show of his true colors.

Both Jay and Jeff Zucker said on TV that Conan told Jeff he was getting other offers. Guess what? Conan did leave. Because of a half hour difference. He was on way earlier than his Late Night show. He should have stayed and worked it.

You are right man, Conan left because he knew that the Tonight Show had to stay at 11:30. The franchise has always been like that. So if you bump it half an hour later, then it is no longer Tonight Show. Conan rather sacrifice his job rather than destroy a much-loved franchise, and that is one of the reasons why I am and will always be a Coco fan.

Leno was in real trouble in the beginning. NBC actually tried to get Dave Letterman to agree to being a backup plan for them. If Leno continued to tank - Letterman would take over.
Letterman refused to go along with that plan after talking to Carson about it. And he didn't want to screw Leno over and end up looking like the bad guy.
Letterman basically gave Leno the respect that any comic would give to another comic. And years later - Leno would completely fail to do the same for Conan.

Why did they not see this coming? TV critics and TV analysts predicted failure for the 10 pm Jay Leno Show, yet NBC did it, and then created a public relations debacle in running O'Brian off in favor of Leno, just as they had done Letterman..
Don't look for "Tonight" to retake the ratings lead. Thanks to NBC's whopping PR mistakes and his own disingenuous and whiny comments, Leno has become little more than a punchline.

To quote a commentator on Current's "Infomania": "If you wanted Conan to stay on the Tonight Show, don't start a bunch of stupid Facebook groups about it, actually WATCH THE SHOW". Low ratings got him kicked off, and that's no one's fault but the viewers. People only care about something when they're about to lose it.
