  • Sweet 909 programming.

  • lol that car is pimp i want one...

  • Songs in the 80's and 90's were and STILL so so great. Songs now are mainly bullshit. Girls, sex, money, cars its just pathetic. But Ne-Yo is awesome. No one can match Phil Collin's legacy...besides Elvis ahaha or any other legends back then.

  • ya there is a reason older songs like this are still around. just flat out good music. no one will ever be able to 1up this man.

there is so much garbage produced nowadays!

    phil collins, my man.

  • Does anybody have the "Miami Vice" scene where Crockett is running through New York City and this song is playing in the background?

  • We all feel in love with this Song cause We all want to Go Home and see the sites and sounds of the place we miss so much!! A great song and singer Phil Collins

  • what country was he in when he was walking on those stones and it had that monument in the background (after the Eiffel Tower) near the beginning of the song? anyone know?

  • I would guess Japan, but I'm not really sure.

  • what the car he pooled on

  • its an English car, a 1952? Ford Prefect. Makes me homesick everytime I hear this

  • thanks. you are kind. im japanese so sorry for broken english.

  • Its great to share with others...thanks for trying english, I know learning English is extremely difficult plz dont be discouraged if somebody makes a bad comment. I would like to travel to Japan one day...the girls are pretty!!!

  • yeah its roman of the man, they are pretty, try to make japanese friends when you come. thanks friend.

  • man driving on the other side of the road, thats crazy

  • As much as I like Phil Collins and this song and video why do I think he looks a bit Danny Devito'ish in this video?

  • Great song. I was heading to battleship Cove in MA for a overnight scouting adventure with the scouts and fellow leaders back in the 80"s when I first heard this song playing on the radio on the way. I really loved the beat to. A real Phil Collins classic

  • Great song!

  • Not only is the song classic--the freakin' beat is soooo hot. It was great in the 80's, but I think I appreciate it even more now. It's a lot more pure than today's music.

  • ME ENCANTAAA !

  • Phil Collins has a voice and style like no other and it's amazing!!!!!!!

  • i <3 this song

  • so they had to go to all those places just for this music video????

  • This dedicated to Gordie's Dad...!! =)

  • Thanks D!!

  • Wow...I have seen on your channel this morning.

    So wonderful...Good morning from here!

  • p7u8.u6t6hytt 7tjkt ty5nr gtthgr t4rt/

  • great song and Phil's got a cool car

  • Lucky! I want to travel to the same places! Great song! I like Phil's car too. The song fits well though, cause traveling is fun, but being far away from home gets to you soon.

  • What's the car at the beginning?

  • the wifes acting was amazing, 5 stars *****

  • the wifes acting was fucking horid.

  • I second that!

  • if i had to actually choose my favorite song i ever heard, THIS song would put up one heck of a fight.

  • music changes with the times, there's gems from each generation

  • Unmistakably the Sears Tower

  • Undoubtedly my favorite Phil Collins song, and in my Top 10 of favorite songs, period.

Can anyone identify the black skyscraper seen briefly around 4:28?

  • It looks like the one in downtown Chicago, but I don't know the name. However, it seems it must be something else.

  • Actually, I think you're right. It appears to be the John Hancock Center. Thanks for helping to narrow it down!

  • няма нищо!

    No problem!

  • Yes it is,...iv just done a google maps search...873 N Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL, United States Thats the 1

  • Great song!! I saw an interview with Phil years ago and he said this song is about a man who has been trapped in a mental institute most of his life. Apparently that was quite common in the U.K. at one time.

  • im 24 and this is one of the best songs ever there is no good music anymore and im not a anti social freak but there is honestly there is no good artist that grab you on the balls anymore there all shit but music like this is the ticket peace out

  • There is a lot of crappy music now but there has always been a lot of crappy music. Every year someone says "there's no good music anymore."

  • Great Song! i still dont get the FULL meaning of this song but i do get the gist of it in a sense.

any1 please feel free to reply

    thanks for posting it

  • :) i love this song.

  • i find that impossible that this video was made in the 80s while Bone Thugz N Harmony version was made in 2003

yet theyr version is also good =]

  • @55Poter: Your comment saved my day xD

  • I know!!! LOL!!!

  • wasnt the btnh verzion with phil collins, so if anything they took it from him

  • You're right. Phil stole a time machine went to 03 copied the song, then went back in time and wote the song.

Nah. You're wrong. This is the version I heard first. I just know found out about Bone Thugs version.

  • hahaha, that's amazingly funny

  • Awesome!!! Phil Collins, love you , love your music , very nice voice.

  • superb song!

  • yea I miss the eighties and great music so much! Its not that all the music today sucks, its just that its not a continues flow of great music like we had in the eighties. The golden age of music video and pop.

  • turn off this, and... i don't mind (:

  • Phil did a pretty good job with this song.

  • Sting is said to be one of the backing vocals.

  • peter gabriel rocks

  • not a big fan but heres his best. i heard the same...this vid quite pricy as a product of its time.

  • probably didn't cost that much. I'd assume they just shot random pieces of it while he was on a world tour, filming a bit in some of the countries he was playing in.

  • In that video was my hometown, a place where is spent two summers as a girl, AND where I live, now!

  • Apparently the travel costs made this video one of the most expencive to shoot of its day.

  • Phil Collins rocks! I remember years ago he was tearing up the music charts! Now the guy is missing in action! Apart from a voice over gig a Grand Theft Auto video game sequel! Come back, Phil! We miss you!

  • Jurin32 is a faggot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I am gay and I love this music--- who cares ?

  • Wow, I actually really enjoy listening to this song! :)

  • Did VH1 really use the same kind of letters as MTV did back in the day when they've mentioned the titles of the songs?

  • i never gabriel did, but sting does too?

  • sorry, *knew*

  • did you know that Peter Gabriel and Sting are also doing the backing vocals on this song.

  • Phil Collins rocks. Greatest Drummer of all time. Sorry Neil Peart.

  • 2 words: Mike Portnoy ;P

  • TOTALLY different style. whats the point of even comparing these two you idiot.

  • him&Carl Palmer

  • i used to hate phil collins but know i think hes great

  • This is possibly the best song Phil has ever written.

Very Ken-Wilburish lyrically. The spiral of life...

  • one of the single greatest song of all time! that is enough said!

  • I bet Phil has been to every country a person can possibly go to. He seems to have toured more than Aerosmith & The Rolling Stones together!

  • This is my all-time favorite song by Phil Collins.

The melody, orchestration, vocals, and lyrics seemed to be inspired by GOD himself !

There is not a more RIGHTEOUS noise in the entire world than this song as far as I'm concerned.

23 years later, and no other song can come close to this one in my heart.

Thanks Phil. Thanks for the glorious sounds, the tremendous passion, and the wonderful memories.

  • this song does rock

  • This song is so lush and beautiful. The layers of music just make it like a giant wave of beauty. And the drums are kick-ass...sorry, I play drums.

  • now this is music!

  • it rocks

  • i used listen to this song while i was living in dorm college time. that was amazing feeling and never forgettable experience

home, always the BEST place on earth!

  • Wow! This music video is so amazing! So many shots involved.

  • I admit as I get older I appreciate Phil Collins more and more especially this song

  • did they use a green screen or did he actually go to these places??

  • He actually went to all those countries.

  • Amazing song. The lyrics are so perfect and really show somethough about Phil Collins's person and speak out from his heart. The tune is among the top ten of my favorites from Phil Collins.

5 stars; My Favorites: Music Playlist

  • This is also a great song for when your homesick belive me i know

  • This is an awsome video and song. One of my favorite Phil Collins songs. It never gets old, never grows boring, nice beat and meaning.

If I was homesick Phil Collins is probably the artist I would listen to more than anybody else. The sound of his music is calming and cheerful (most of the time).

5 stars; My Favorites: Phil Collins Playlist

  • Great song, combines such an upbeat tune with incredibly powerful lyrics. This really stands out from the 80s.

  • looks like they had scaffolding up on Big Ben...was it undergoing repairs in '85?

  • I agree bashir. This song makes me appreciate life and it tells me not to give up.

  • That's right. Life is something to be appreciated at all times. Always remain optimistic, not pessimistic.

  • Even in these hard times, people need to understand that it doesn't mean you should sulk about it. There is hope and there is something worth being happy about even in the worst of times.

  • Phil rocks the skullet.

  • Mullet, stupid idiot

  • I know it's a "mullet" dumbass. I didn't come up with the term "skullet". If you could read you would know I was responding to another person using the term "skullet". You should to read more than the first page before posting your backward ass comments towards me.

Someone typed that because he's bald on top, hence SKULLET. DUMBASS!

  • I love this song so much

  • Lol at the end:

"I've been in tokyo, sydney, newyork, london..."

"You've been down at the pub!"

    :D

I know this song because it was on my old miami vice 2 casette. Then few years later I watched the episode where this song was featured on. It's about the two vice cops going to newyork airport to return back to miami.

  • This is my favourite song of all time, absolutely timeless.

  • yes, i think it´s a beautiful song and one of phil´s best!

  • Phil collins is the shit. I bump him wherever I go. People even like him the the slums of Atlanta. Best drummer ever period.

  • Sorry for being square, but what do you mean by "bump him"?

  • It means he plays Phil's music wherever he goes. That's what bump means.

  • Thank ye.

  • I was wondering that myself ... ugh!!!???

  • bump means to play as in music/songs etc

    a person might say

"i bump TRUE COLORS all the time in my car"

  • dows anyone have an instrumental for this? I know a great tribute i might do for it.

  • Actually this song was written as a dedication to the mentally ill who were locked up in the UK mental healthcare system...sometimes for their whole lives...whether they were really "crazy" or not. This info was from Collins himself during an interview many years ago. I wish I could find that interview now!

BTW, don't let the video fool you. It has nothing to do with the meaning of the song. It was mearly a quick fix for the MTV generation of the mid '80's.

  • i love this

  • Memories of this song? When I was in the Army, posted in London, I used to get on the train In London to go home to Lancashire and I used to start this track as the train left

Euston to take me home.....goes really well with the rhythm of the train....

  • SNAP!!! But I was based in Catterick and lived in London! Those weekend passes.

  • Wonder what this song is about?????

It was written for the forgotten elderly in homes. "I don't mind" "they can turn off my feelings like turning off the lights" (medication) "they don't think that i listen, but i know who they are"

Relisten to this song as if you were a old person in a home.

  • how old are you?

  • sorry i'm just not that into you.

  • lol

  • :O phil collins rocks!!!!! :D

  • When I look at Phil Collins, I wonder who is taller...him or Michael J Fox?

  • Fact:Big Ben is the bell inside the clock tower not the tower itself, righty right then, tea anyone?

  • Played this song the moment I return from my studies in Switzerland... felt great listening to it again

  • I would consider this his best song, if not his signature song.

  • yes without a doubt, also one of his closers at shows.
