Whelens siren is nice.

When you add harmonics you lessen sound output.

Best is square wave, which moves the speaker voice coil diaphragm from one extreme to the other, producing the most sound.

Lower tone travels farther and can alert drivers further ahead earlier.

Priority is a waste. Not perceived as well by drivers.

actually, number of speakers had no affect on how many tones you can put out at once. it is actually different siren boxes hooked up to 1 master control unit with multiple speakers coming out. you need good equipment like this to get more than 1 tone out at once. p.s. love your setup, man! it freakin rocks.

Easy there fella... Read my description before you start yelling. This SmartSiren CONTROLS the Whelen 12Q. The SmartSirens only come standard with the wail, yelp, priority, hi-lo and airhorn tones.

Long story short they got sued by FedSig for the Whelen Alpha 12Q sounding too much like the Federal Q2B. I use a Whelen 314P speaker

It depends, the 12Qs are very rare to find and usually run $200. The SmartSirens are anywhere from $250 used to $800 new with the SignalMaster controls.

Are you allowed to have a siren? Just because they don't move for your lights doesn't mean you can have a siren. Check with someone first or you could wind up in a lot of trouble...
