if you know music, you would understand that the chords that he's playing are also jazz chords. He made it very easy to understand.

not exactly jazz... although some of it hints at some ECM stuff. But yeah, it's beautiful stuff, just doesn't fit the jazz idiom much.

When he improvises at the end, he uses jazz progressions.

Tru, but it is still gospel. Same chords different context. Stylistically, this falls outside the idiom of jazz.
