  • @MrRaiders6769 Thank you very much for the clicks. What year make and model car are you working on.

  • Shit I forgot to inform you of that. 1998 Saturn Sl2 DOHC.

  • @MrRaiders6769 The 98 should have 40 to 55 psi at idle. After you turn the car off watch the gauge for five minutes pressure should drop no more than 8psi.

  • Some people put Teflon tape to stop the gauge from leaking fuel in the test. What my question is do you use the tape bye warping it around the treads of the gauge before its screwed in or is there another way?

  • @nico27004 That is the only way i know of.

  • which way to you turn the cap to remove/replace?

  • @eggybaby84 Left to remove right to tighten.

  • i just bought that gauge. does it work well? do you think it would last. i know some people said the gauge fills with gas. I was wondering is that because something was done incorrectly?

  • @nico27004 I have only used it twice so far so good.

  • Two things: One, be sure to know whether your fuel pressure specification is key on, engine off (KOEO) or key on, engine running (KOER), as they will be different readings. Secondly, be sure you're connected to the fuel pressure test port and not the evap port (usually a green cap or tag).

Also, not all vehicles have a schrader valve test port. Most domentics do, but Asian and European cars typically require adapters and removing the fuel line or hose at some point.

  • @10MickeyMouse thank you for the information

  • IT IS RAYMOND!!!

  • @kirkles66 everyone loves richpin

  • hey i have a problem with my 91 Lesabre and im thinking it might be the fuel pump. but before i make the decision of changing that i want to test the fuel pressure so i dont waste money. how much are those tester things? and is getting a pressure gage goodm so u can have it lik eon ur dash or window panel?

  • @CODxFUNxMAN Check out Harbor Freight Tools they have the one i am using hear and it does not cost too much.

  • @CODxFUNxMAN MOST PARTS STORES WILL LET YOU RENT ONE OF THESE FOR FREE OR ONLY A FEW DOLLARS. MIGHT BE WORTH CHECKING OUT BEFORE BUYING A TOOL YOU WILL NOT USE VERY OFTEN

  • omg it's raymond from everybody loves raymond

  • @ikketuub were....were....

  • When I did this to my car it was right on 40 and the needle was twitching. What does it mean? Can anybody tell me?

  • @sinistersin13 Check the idle speed control valve

  • how do you tell if the pump any good.the say you got to run two test one with vaccum and the other with it off and if drops its a problem

  • Hey, i like the videos you do, i have a question. I have a 99 satrun SL2 with a SOHC engine in it manual trans. When i drive the car it seems excessively loud, and it runs fine but at around 70mph and at higher rpms in second and 3rd gears it seems like when you step on the gas the car does not accelerate...any ideas? I would appreciate your thoughts.

  • @Starsmuse When the car does not accelerate what is the tachometer showing. High rpm or normal rpm for the speed you are going.

  • @richpin06a Well it depends on what gear im in, it usually acts up in 5th gear around 70mph and it runs around 2000-2500 rpm range.

  • @Starsmuse I was thinking clutch slipping but it does not sound like it.One other thing i was thinking of was the catalytic converter or muffler being partly blocked.

  • 1:37 to 1:42 are you ok?

  • @flaresideg gloves dude...

  • @bellben just looked funny and not really like he lost his grip. IDK dammit looked funny! lol

  • @bellben i know???

  • @flaresideg lmao... was a real struggle there.

  • I have an 86 Olds 88 Royale Brougham! And I wonder if this might be a problem with my fuel pump, relay or blown fuse? Every time I accelerate my car either stalls or losses power while accelerating, I thought it was that i was running out of fuel went to the gas, added like 4 or 6 gallons of fuel and tested it for over 5 miles and the car stalled at least 8 times!

  • @abemotorsports Could be the pump or filter i would try to rig up a gauge so i can watch it going down the road.

  • You dont even need to use a fuel pressure gauge. If you have a portable tire compressor with a pressure gauge then you can use that as well, if mine can easily fit then yours can too.

  • I have a dodge ram 2500 v10 fuel injection what should the pressure be while running ?

  • @789546123 Normal pressure on a 98-02 s-series is 47 psi. After you turn off the pump watch the pressure decay. It should not exceed 8 psi in 5 minutes

  • dude.i want to ask u for a normal pressure is how many psi....

and can i use the fuel gauge to test, fuel hose have leaking?

  • why did you turn your car on without the throttle body intake?

  • @newmanto03

to access the fuel bleeder on the hose so you can hook up the tester.

  • what is the proper pressure for a 4.3 TBI FI?

  • haha.. I think he is using his underware for a rag !!! too funny

  • I tested my fuel pressure today on my 1999 SL2. I tested it with the car warmed up, and it went right to 50 psi. I turned the car off and it instantly went to 46psi, then afer 5 minutes it was at 38 psi. Is this right?

  • you are ok

  • why start the engine, surely you just turn the ignition key on to operate the pump.

  • actron ones arnt bad i baught professional one for 50 bucks

  • harbor freight kit they are cheap and not bad actully

  • just bought the harbor freight master kit on sale at $70.gauge broke within 2 days and 3 uses.someone on google says only buy hand tools from HF never anything with a gauge,I wish I followed his advice.well at leasy HF never hassle you with the refund.just bought the Actron CP7838 from autozone and it works perfectly.

  • Harbor Freight has a lifetime warranty so just go get a new one.

  • I test my '98 Dodge Intrepid and the fuel pressure was fine while the car was running, the bleed down did not hold pressure at all, it goes right to almost zero. What's the next step to troubleshooting the fuel pressure?

  • Find and replace the check valve. Most are part of the fuel pump.

  • Would that be the same as the fuel pressure regulator/fuel filter? I got the Chilton's book and it doesn't say anything about a check valve. Thanks.

  • It is not the same.

  • could be leaky fuel injector

  • how may I know if is there a fuel pressure regulator failure?

how to know if the fuel pressure regulator is not working properly

    thanks

  • The pressure will be out of tolerance.

  • What brand is the camara?

You should buy a gauge with drain valve
