Upgraded to the new Nvidia drivers (290.53) and went into CUSTOM video settings and turned everything to ULTRA and turned MSAA OFF and the problem has gone away. I would try this if you guys are still getting the issues. This was with a GTX 560
I have had this problem since day one. My Radeon HD 5750 plays all other games with no issues. I thought maybe driver issue, but have not seen a new update that fixes it yet. I'm not willing to get a new card for this game.
Machine is i5 2500k, 8GB GSkill Sniper. Not like i'm trying to play on old hardware, the video card is the oldest component about 2 years old.
I had the same problem with my GTX 560ti. Looking round online it looks like everybody is waiting on Nvidia to release an updated driver to fix the problem. I have since put my settings from ultra down to high. This has fixed the problem. Little bit annoying seeing as though we have spent good money on powerful gaming rigs but at least the game is perfectly playable and in all fairness it still looks awesome!
This is NOT a card problem. I can't embed a url here for some reason so please check out my artifact video and in the summary is a link to a forum. A Dice employee is responding on there and the more people that report it, the faster it'll get fixed.
I just installed a brand new XFX Radeon 6970 and had these artifact where I would get this black/kinda like shadowed area on different parts of the Caspian border map...any1 else get that?
yup the only thing that sucks about BF3 ,fuckin hated those artifacts while playing on my GTS 450 , unpolished fps , fuckin developers nowadays selling games filled with bugs

I had the same problem with a GTX 460. My solution was the new patch "Back to Karkand".
Now I can play on ultra settings without problems.
Here is a link to my old graphic bugs:

Its a bug in the game. Its also client side so it is NOT GPU related. Only way to fix is to restart the game.

Try turning off anti-aliasing, worked for me.
