  • Personally, I believe that some, myself included, interpreted this the wrong way. Now I realize that if we find water on another planet, life is more likely to exist there as well, even though water is not the only thing capable of enabling life. I hope that at least a couple of misunderstandings have been cleared out.

  • i saw something which looked like a scene out of a scifi movie. EIther my own mind tricked me into thinking something unusual or unfamiliar, to myself of earth origin was from somewhere else or what i saw really was what i thought it was. YOu know that gut feeling you get when you are seeing something that you cannot believe is happening well this is how i felt. It was just pure disbelief in my mind upon seeing it. it just lit up the ground with a pinky red beam of light and hovered about

  • and if there is intelligent life their surely not know to us if their did their would have been here already so i don't belive their know to us

  • there have been found small life forms and a planet there look like earth whit water there is blue and green so thats is a prove on life but no one knows about there is any intelligent life out there but one thing is sure if there is intelligent life out there their ships will 100% not look like that we call a ufo

  • the reason why they are looking for a planet that have water is that life is more likely to exist. For us, water is an important factor that contribute to the existence of life and sustaining it. Water also have the ability to encourage elements/matter to bond which make it possible for basic life structure to exist and evolve.

  • water doesnt necessarily mean life... alien life forms could rely on other things to survive... this guy is so assumptive...

  • a message was sent out last year to one of the gliese 581 planets. apparently images were also sent in the transmission, including of cheryl cole and richard and judy

  • i agree she could have gone into banking, but chose a noble path.I hear they incourage either finance or science.

  • Life doesn't need water or oxygen or carbon, it just needs a stable and common solid, fluid and combustible. We could have ammonia based life. We could have life on a very cold planet where the solid could be carbon but the fluid could be liquid gases.

  • the gravity force has nothing to do with mountain ranges. A mountain range is formed when tectonic plates are pushed up, depending on the force, that's how high the mountains will rise. The only external force that would have an effect would be if it were blown away as a volcano. Or just wind/water.

  • I'm gonna laugh my ass off when we get in their orbit, look through the telescope, and see brown men in turbins fighting white dudes in military uniforms.

  • the best they can do is find worlds FIVE times bigger than Earth? They will have to do better than that, with gravity so high we would be crushed there. They need to find planets close in size to Earth.

  • There is a chance the generation of people under 20 live to 150 with the improvement of medicine and technology.

  • The demonstration of the surface of Gleise 581c reminds me of that strange land in the Simpsons where the coyote told Homer to find his soul mate, in the episode "The Mysterious Voyage of our Homer".

  • Why do people just look for water? what if the aliens dont need water?

  • @jackpott28 Because water is polar and it can dissolve a lot of organic substances, salts, acids, bases. Perhaps H2S can do that was well, I don't know.

  • this woman has such an annoying face

  • What's that song on 3:07?

  • How lucky did we get to inhabit such a great place? perfect solar position, gravity, atmosphere, magnetasphere, water - coincedence, or intentionally created for us?

  • @pucksterz12 I know it's just logically impossible that we have these aspects but another planet doesn't with the same conditions in the universe. The phenomenon of the Earth and it's qualities is proof of a greater creator. Also go back to the Big Bang. Matter cannot be created from nothing nor can energy. Was the hydrogen gas already there by coincidence and for no reason? How can something just come up from nothing, IT CAN'T.

  • @princepersia1 And you just disproved the theory of god. God is something that supposedly came from nothing. God, might exist, but most likely something created that god. And that before him, so on and so forth. God has no idea why its here, and neither do we. And if it does, it probably realized it isn't important anyway. Go fuck yourself, learn something instead of swallowing the bullshit the bible feeds you.

  • Faggot you can't comprehend what God is God isn't bound by Physical laws but you're too stupid to realize that because you're ina Physical UNIVERSE. If the sense of smell didn't exist and then somebody described it to you you would call them mad, in the same way you CANNOT comprehend God but he is there and if you can't deal with it then go suck Richard Dawkins cock.

  • @princepersia1 You seriously undermine a humans potential to understand things. We may be bound by a physical realm, but what is to say the god isn't? Your the fool. You have no proof of what god actually is. You think one religion can sum it all up? You try to comprehend god by claiming that he is incomprehensible. What is to say that is true? Your so fucking full of yourself. In the end, it doesn't matter anyways. GOD does not matter. Neither do you.

  • @princepersia1 which god are you speaking about? Are the million other religions that are/have been out there untrue?

  • might be a super mars

  • aphex twin music at 2:40 ???

  • Well if you think about it. The person below me is right with communicating with each other. I mean the language is different, they may not even call it a language. If you wave to them and try to say hi. What if it's something that offends them, like how we take getting the middle finger the wrong way. Something like that. Then it could start a huge war. Which would suck, but doubt it would happen. Cool though (:

  • War is becuase we are still use money :(

    We are not civilized yet.

  • mmmm ok

  • That would be f**king crazy!!!

  • Yes it's very possible that there are others out there,people/aliens whatever you want to call them, too bad we have no chance to meet them I guess.I think they're also searching. If the aliens are searching let's say they also have some kind of telescope just like ours today, what if they have discovered our Earth just like we have discovered the unknown planets these past few years but there's no way to communicate and travel because of the distance. What if we're just looking at each other?

  • probably pretty accurate in what you say really,,,,maybe we'll find out how to travel on radio waves someway some day.

  • lol, planet fail

  • 100 billion stars per galexy on ave. 100 billion galexies

100 billon times 100 billion = 100 thousand billion billion stars

some stars have no planets others have between 10 and 20 lets say 5 on ave. 5 x 100 thousand billion billion = 500,000,000,000,000,000,000 planets.

planets with life even if its 1 in a billion would still be 500 ,000,000,000,000. and only 1% of them had intelligent life thats still 5 trillion planets with intelligent life

  • mind boggeling lol

  • Comment removed

  • as there are billions of conditions that stacks that would allow an intelligent life forms such as humains to existe make your match FAIL

  • Forget why. There will never be an answer for why. Just accept that we are here. and that there are just some things beyond our comprehension. which leads us to hypothesis about mystical beings like god =P

  • Why do we live here on earth?

    I don't care but why?

Why is there a Universe, What is it?

    Is there an End?

  • Because Mars is too cold and Venus is to hot.

  • there will be an end, but where did it all start?

before the big bang, what was there

  • yeah i got the same questions,

    its fucking wierd

  • what if it never started. It could be an infinite cycle. Claiming their is a starting point means that you also have to ask what started this starting point. So if you think about it,we have paradox here. We shouldn't exist in other words. This universe is technically impossible. Even if something like god did exist, what started god? All just goes into a paradox. Best not to think about it until your ready to accept your insignificance lol.

  • hmm good point, I always just stopped at what was there before the big bang, but never asked what started it, and looped forever...

we're limited to thinking of a starting and ending point, but you said it could be in an infinite cycle, I still ask the question, how the heck did that cycle start, is there just no beginning?

  • like i said. It could have not started and it just could have been there. Logically thinking its a paradox either way, which means that however you would like to think about it, it makes no sense. xD

  • That anything at all exists is absolutely astonishing.

  • @archdeaconj Lol exactly.

  • so we cant live on it, then wats the point.

  • There is no point. Might as well enjoy life, even if it means in the end everything you do will have no relevance to anything ever.

  • @MasterMegaManX Why do Atheists continue to think that the Universe was created from nothing and it was just a coincidence we are alone in the Universe? Are you just retarded, do you have a brain aneurysm. You do realize most scientists are religious because they realize the phenomenon of the Earth and the Universe. Richard Dawkins is fucking stupid people like you up with his sadistic, narcissistic views, he hates God because he's ugly.

  • @princepersia1 Says the idiot that knows absolutely nothing either. I assume that your an ignorant twat who resorts to name calling when shes being retarded about something or someone she knows absolutely nothing about. Fine I will play your little game. I'm not an atheist. I am agnostic. And if you really are paying attention, most scientists are AGNOSTIC. I agree there is most likely something that closely resembles the concept of god, but it is insignificant, much like us.

  • 93% of the members of the National Academy of Sciences do not believe in god. "most scientists are religious" LOL

god is used by ignorant people to try and understand the unknown. in the old days new diseases were "acts of god" ppl who really argue that god exists are creating their own reasons. we do not know how universe was created, but it is pretty certain atoms can not be created. and we being alone is also not know. stop using god to explain shiz thats just weak.

  • Now you just disappointed us. :-( They say that Gliese 581 c maybe not a super Earth but a super Venus instead due to the green house effect. I hope that they can discover the atmosphere's percentage in O2, CO2, N, using the spectrometers, if they can catch the information.

  • I hope i'll be living long enough to know if there's life out there :)

  • I hope that they re-scan that exo-planet with the new space telescope which is much more powerful. Then we maybe find out. I hope that we can know in the next 10 years or so....

  • @Rodian666

sure..i want to hear the news before my eyes get closed

  • @Rodian666 there is......somewhere in the universe....hope gliese has it....hope to live enough to see it too....cause that would be an amazing day for the earth

  • @Rodian666 We know that itelligence not from earth has already found us. It is a game they play. They wan't us to seek them out and make first contact. We have to learn how to work togather to reach the stars and find them. If they just came here and shared all their technology with us, there would be no beneft to them and it would not benefit us in the long run either. We as a people have to figure out our own problems and seeking them out, becoming our own self made star fairing race.

  • @TheCottonTop People think earth and humans are so special because we are so alone in the comos. But neither of those things are true. The life that visits here is perfectly happy just observing us. Just like a human walking though a field would glance over one ant hive and compair it to the next. Life is so abundant and their methods of travel so advanced. That their visits here would be like us walking though a park or just sitting and watching TV or YouTube.

  • @Rodian666 chances are, they were here before you and I were even born.

  • Someone once said it's an awfully big stage for such a small show...

  • Yes but Rome was not built in one day.

  • Someone once said I don't have enough money to buy all the props for this big stage.

  • we can see only out dated data from the space, so if we would find alien life it would be probably all ready destroyed.

  • that is very true. A planet could appear to be earth like from our telescopes, but if the planet is thousands of light years away, then the planet could possibly not exist at the present time. All the scientists are seeing, are images from the planets thousands of years ago.

  • That is a possiblity but a very low one though. Life takes millions of years to evolve, so unless its millions of light years away, I wouldn't look at those planets like you do! If they are thousands of years away, unless their parent star is dead or GBR, I don't see any other reason for their planet to have been completely destroyed!

  • really if we are the only one it would be really stupid... i mean 100.000.000.000 planets and NO life i mean hello?! wasting -.-

  • it's like that bear story in the woods. where Goldilocks enter the house of the bear family and she tries three different oatmeals. one is to hot, one is too cold and finally finds the one that is just right.

I can't help but think that god is just toying with the scientist as they hunt for ET.....you found what? lol take another look.

  • let's say if the whole universe is a garden, the god is garden itself.

  • Oh come one chances are if you are smart enough to under stand the concepts of this video you have worked out god does not exist i know i have.

  • I don't understand why the scientists are obsessed with finding water in other planets, relating it with the possible existance of life..

I mean we need water to live but alien organisms might not need..

  • There certainly has to be some kind of liquid. A solid medium would not allow the complex chemistry of life to occur fast enough. In a gas, the molecules are flying around too fast. Liquid is the "happy medium" for life.

The reason why water, particularly, is that it is a relatively common substance, cosmically speaking, and stays liquid over a relatively wide range of temperatures. Thus the best chance for finding life is to find liquid water.

  • well, why trying to find out how earth was formed when God made it, just go find other planets , thats fine, God never said anything about other planets so, He maybe did make another one.

  • but dont we think that there is water there wtf why is that dude in desert

  • u get me.

  • Oh so it IS understood by mainstream scientists that if there's too much CO2 in an atmosphere, that it causes a run-away greenhouse effects?! So I wonder, why do we still get the oil companies & fosil fuel energy corporations claiming that it DOESN'T!? And I wonder just how far ARE they prepared to gamble all life on this planet.. simply for their selfishness & greed!?

    Great vid.. thanks Linda

Thanks for taking the time to write your comment - you have such a lexicon of words.

No, seriously, please realize that kids watch these videos and read the comments...

Nothing in this series of videos or comments warranted your personal opinion to be expressed in such a manner.

  • Are you really wondering? Because you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. People have a way of ignoring scientists when the truth proves inconvenient.

My personal reason for being so interested in the search for intelligent life is that I've found precious little of it so far.
