Life doesn't need water or oxygen or carbon, it just needs a stable and common solid, fluid and combustible. We could have ammonia based life. We could have life on a very cold planet where the solid could be carbon but the fluid could be liquid gases.
the gravity force has nothing to do with mountain ranges. A mountain range is formed when tectonic plates are pushed up, depending on the force, that's how high the mountains will rise. The only external force that would have an effect would be if it were blown away as a volcano. Or just wind/water.

Are you really wondering? Because you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. People have a way of ignoring scientists when the truth proves inconvenient.
