I`m looking for some clips of my dad and uncle, if anyone noes where to find them. They wrestled every Fri. night in Tupelo,Ms back in the 70`s and 80`s. and in Mimphis on Sat. mornnings. They where Aaron Holt & Sammy Holt. Also went as The Tupelo Exspress.
That was the worst bodyslam in the history! But the announcer made a valiant effort to smooth it over by saying it was a matter of Barry's great "balance" that the bodyslam was completed!
Cowboy Young screwed up a bunch of spots in this match. The manager who was commentating had a bad accent. Sounded more like he was from the south and not another country.
Blackjack Mulligan and Ric Flair bought into this area in Knoxville right before Flair became the NWA World Heavyweight Champion. Lord Alfred Hayes and his crew also wrestled here some (Nicolai Volkoff, Chris Markoff, Jimmy Valiant).
Congradulations to Cowboy Young on this great victory. I'm not sure what Windam was so upset about, Candy was reaching up to shake his hand and it caught the rope when Windam fell over it.
Great early footage of Barry Windham in this clip. BTW, listening to Izzy Slapowitz on the mic, he sounds a lot like Watto from Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
I PERSONALLY LIKED THE BODY SLAM..IT GIVES THE MATCH A SENSE OF REALISM , LIKE A REAL STRUGGLE INSTEAD OF A PERFECT CHOREOGRAPHED SLAM THAT ONE EXPECTS TO SEE ALL THE TIME.
THANK YOU for showring Barr during his Mulligan Jr. days. I've kept up w/Barry in wrestling Magazines for almost his whole career. He's my all-time fav.
I saw Barry break into the business in Florida in 1980. Very green but each year he got better and better. He should have been a World Champion when the title meant something.

Wrestling lesson number1 : How to do a body slam. Cowboy Young was sick that day.

the match was a bust, but younger barry was so hot and looks awesome here. when he bulked up, he lost that great definition.

@samsdaddy0525 SO, true! I hate that he went to WWE early in his career. If he
had been NWA champ, there's no telling
where his career would've went. Don't get me wrong, his horseman days were good but, still.
CadillacL 2 years ago
I agree. I am sure he went to the then WWF with Rotundo for money and who could blame him.
But, it cost him some time away from the NWA and that hurt him.

Yeah i think so.

You're quite welcome. I grew up on, mostly Mid-Sough (i'm from Shreveport, Louisiana), World-Class & Georgia. As
I sad in one post, Barry is my all-time fav.
I SO miss old-school wrestling. :)
