My parents are U.S. Diplomats and I have lived in many countries. I can tell you that the MIAMI CUBANS are the w o r s t people of all. Cubans should stay in their crappy island or learn to be decent like the rest of people. Before spending any dollar I make sure the owner is not CUBAN. Don't support the Miami Cuban monopoly/mafia.
Cuba still has higher literacy and life expectancy than the U.S., no homelessness, no hunger, free tuition through a PhD, free food for everyone, guaranteed employment, very low crime, and a nation free from the capitalist gusano vampires like you! Cubans have dignity, they are better educated than Americans, more cultured, and understand how imperalism and monopoly capitalism enslaves the globe. Cuba is a model for the developing world. VIVA CHE !
I love how every convinced Capitalists' response to Leftists is "well, why don't you fuck off to a Communist country then?"
Duly noted. Now don't be a hypocrite - Cuba is a Communist country. Well, if you don't like it, why don't you fuck off and live in a Capitalist country - and leave Cuba the fuck alone!
I wonder what Cuba would look like without harsh sanctions. And US hostility. My hypothesis is that Fidel Castro became dictator because he was scared that the United States would imperialize it again. Cuba could of been democratic.
that's what happens when u grow a pair and stand up to the U.S. I mean look at Haiti, they were the first successful black rebellion and ever since the U.S. and Europe has been punishing them for it (just like Cuba, and now Venezuela). all nationalized some industry, that were founded on slavery and tried to give it back to their people and so special interests made sure they were punished for taking back what was rightfully theirs. the U.S. was founded on theft and genocide.

The rest of the worlds super powers for years have now sat back, and looked on at the cuban revolution with a degree of jealousy, how can one man galvanise his people for so long?the answer is simple Fidel listens to his people, and no embargo will ever influnce his social state

Castro declared Cuba a socialist state on April 16, 1961. why do people keep saying Cuba is communist. and there is a wave of Democratic Socialism sweeping Latin America. many things went right with the cuban revolution and many others went wrong, such as no elections. but then again so many thing went wrong with the Democratic Capitalism practiced in the U.S. that's why the stock market crashed. people need to read some history books once in a while.
There is poverty in every country, and EVERY Government is corrupt in some way or another, I have extensive family in Cuba, and I would rather die 100 times over than to live on that Island. Fidel was an idealist whose I deal went to hell and is too proud to admit it. Cuba is a very intricate discussion. If you don't live there and don't have family then I don't want to hear it.
Capitalism and Socialism have failed. I have many friend in Cuba who would not leave for anything, and probably twice as many in Miami who absolutely hate Fidel. I agree, Ideals are one thing and good government are another but one must admit that a great deal of the misfortune in Cuba has been caused by the U.S. embargo. Cuba has a rich culture that would have been contaminated by capitalism just like it did in Puerto Rico not to mention how bad the PR economy is thanks to U.S. interventions.
@MrJoncastro why should the us give cuba anything of ours, he hates everything about our nation....let your people have free elections like the US, by the way, my vote hardly counts because we don't have a popular vote, our crooked politicians only need the votes of New York, California,Florida, and Texas!!!
Well if someone can actually tell me a system that can get a country from a dictatorship and just make poverty dissapear i will change my political believes, Cuba was very poor before, and now it is still considered poor, but now at least people don't fear about disease as the health care system is one of the best in the world and it's FREE, when 99.8% of the population is literate and its people life expectancy can compete with those of developed european countries.
Communism doesn't work! It never did and it never will.
Santeria doesn't work either, or these people wouldn't still have such miserable lives.
You can bet that Castro and his suck-ups never lived like this. They're the elite now.
My father-in-law was the Chief of Police in Santiago in the 50's. He was trying to get rid of Batista but Raul executed him right after the revolution.
@Nightmeare You don't understand communism or the distinction between bourgeois exploitative property and personal possessions. Read The Manifesto Of The Communist Party by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels, where they explain this distinction for those who make that mistake.
The Cuban people bought this upon them self when they didn't want Batista in power because he was corrupted. I rather have Batista and his corruption then to have Fidel Castro in power. Since he's been in power the Country is economically distroyed thanks to Stupit White Cubans in Miami.
What is the point to this embargo on Cuba? Does an embargo ever hurt the dictator? No, it only hurts the common man. We have no embargo against Vietnam so why this obsession against Cuba? Communism is of no threat today and this embargo is immoral
The embargo does not prohibit Cuba from buying food from the US. The lack of food is due to the inefficient agrarian system and the lack of hard currency due to Castro's refusal to liberate the economy, diversify the export base and the regime's need to pay back what it is owed to its Japanese, Europeans and Latin American commercial partners for products bought during the Soviet aid years. Capice?
@mraphel you fucking idiot!! it is true that the embargo does not stop them from buying from USA but Cuba is the only country that has to pay CASH !! to get their food from USA when everyone else is doing it on Credit !!

Cubans need to get organized again and put down the Castro's Dicatorship, cuban people are suffering missery and hunger, the society it's all frustrated, there are many profesional people who have left their profession to be a bakerman, or a taxidriver, there is no equality in Cuba !!!, they areliving since many years ago, in a social system, who can not get stability, everydy have to steal to survive, the food for cuban people is the worst, so...

Like the Iranians in1979,Che Guevera fought for freedom of his people against the forces of evil.If He was a Muslim living in Iran ,he would fight and support the Islamic Revolution of Iran.SALUT COMMANDENTE CHE GUEVERA..BARATTO!!!!
The only blockade is the one from the Castro regimen to its own people, as they can not go to the places tourists can go and are 3rd category citizens in their own country, they can not invest in their future, why dont you go to leave there with libreta de abastecimiento?
The blinding propaganda against Cuba in the U$ renders U$ citizens incapable of knowing in what high esteem Cuba is held in other parts of the world.
One really has to live in Cuba to experience the beauty of the system. The deprived people of the U$ can't comprehend what it would be like to have no homeless people, free education, the right to food etc. Where a poverty of social justice reigns as it does in the US, there's no hope of understanding the equality in Cuba.
There should also be a movie about the murderers in Miami. Cuban exile TERRORISTS like Luis Posada Carilles ("South America's Bin Laden" who blew up Cubana Flight 455 in 1976), Orlando Bosch (his partner in crime), Felix Rodriguez (point man for Oliver North in Iran/Contra, trained central American death squads), Alpha 66 (Gusano = Al Qaeda), Brigade 2506, etc -- Just go to Versailles restaurant in Miami where these assassins will be sitting up front.
u bastard do u know wat ur castro did 2 my familay he kill my grandfathers best friend in the face and my grandfather had 2 watch. He threw my grandmother on the streets with my uncle in her hand naked and my mother in her arms and my mother in her stomach,he destroyed the lives of millions of people ind killed so many, and u have the bals to say VIVA FIDEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YOU CAN GO 2 HELL BECUASE IM SURE AS WEL NOW THATS WERE HES GONA BURN,WITH THE REST OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU!
I know the cuban history very well, i have been in cuba and seen the life of cubans living with honor and dignity, your family was sure a contour revolutionary who killed many innocent people and get as deserved. You speak for USA yanki, and speak for all revolutionary people,
I share your sentiments... that is awful that members of your family had to suffer under a Dictator
But please do not fall for the lies of CAPITALISM as well. Communist supports economic equality. You can still have a communist or socialist government that's a democracy! That has democractically elected bodies and a President!
Just look at Capitalism! It under the disguise of democracy is killing more people than what Castro did. Look at Bush and Iraq... all for Oil!
Nobodys probably listening anymore now, but I agree with 4yall, if only because he's involved in the culture, one way or another.
I don't need anybody telling me about my own house, either.
I really think its time, though, to start dealing with Cuba differently. If this is our house, then they are in our back yard. Even the E.U. is doing things differently with them without even asking our permission.
Pero europa estubiera comiendo suasticas si no le hubieran besado el culo a los Americanos para que los Ingles, Franceses, Rusos y los demas europeos fueran libres de esa maldita politica. Los europeos lo pidieron.
Yes Look at Countries like Cuba, Its people puts up with shit for decades until one day they say NO! and for once the people speak. And when they decide not to continue dancing along to some American Fandango all of a sudden they are public enemy No 1. Cuba hasnt invaded anyone infact its America who invaded part of her. Cuba hasnt dropped a bomb on anyone. Cuba hasnt removed another countrys head of state. And cuba doesnt believe that if your poor its because its your own fault.
Videos like these are a shame, they only show the 5% of people in Cuba who really believe in Communism and not the 95% who has been opressed by a COMMUNIST DICTATORSHIP for almost half a century. This video is an example of the opinion of the press who does not know the real Cuba, and the sufferage that lies in it. It is a shame that people do not know the history of my country, and how it went from top 5 in the planet to bottom 20,and the reason why millions of Cuba left their country,VIVA CUBA
Fuck you Cuba is doing a great job considering the American Boycott. They would be a lot better off otherwise. The suffering that Cuba endures is largely down to the sanctions of foreign powers who just cant stand to see any sort of socialism work.If the secret was out that there was an alternative to capitalism USA would collapse. Che was a great man he even went to Africa to help the Congolese fight the belgium oppressors.
HAHAHAHA and you start with "Cuba's doing a great job" IN WHAT?! How the FUCK can you even compare the US to Cuba , and how the FUCK can you call Che a cuban hero when he offered himself to kill his own blood? shame that you are not a cuban and that you dont know the real history of my country, and still dare to say such things as the ones you just said, I thought of having a civilized argument but when you call that man a hero I go crazy, because unlike mny I know what happened before.
What happened before was the same as is happening now...only that Batista brought the island the wealth it had never had before... but my point is if both are dictatorships why not make Cuba a place where their own people can be free? Why not just give the opportunity to the people to decide what they really want...and not let the Castros manage the fake elections that they've been carrying on for 50 years now...after all, only CHANGE is certain...
I am surprised that a Brit like you is so full of it....If you saw how Cuba was back in the 1950's, you'd be in TOTAL SHOCK....It had a HUGE middle class, with the peso worth more than the dollar for a short time.....Cuba was kicking some serious ass thanks to our economic ties to the US and to some serious
Cuban entrepeneurs....The ONLY thing that Castro son-of-a-bitch will EVER say about the 1950's is that the Mafia ran Cuba..BULLSHIT...
The Mafia had casinos, just like in Vegas, that's all...
I am british and i am a communist and i tell you what the fact that my country is currently the 4th richest in the world means fuck all to the normal working man in Britain who is seeing no benefits high taxes and an interest rate thats spiraling out of control all thanks to the american economy. You just dont get it Cuba made a decision to step out of that rat race of greed and betrayal. When the world market collapses cuba wont be touched because of this.
You are definitely enlightened as to what is REALLY going on...everyone who doesn't realize the truth, is BLINDED by what the MEDIA tells you...Americans and the like OPEN UP YOUR EYES, FREE YOUR MINDS AND FOR GOD'S SAKE READ!! Do some research, don't just accept whatever is told to you by the media, QUESTION EVERYTHING (EVEN ME!) We live in a INFORMATION SOCIETY where almost EVERYONE has access to the TRUTH if you just look hard enough! You don't have to be communist to understand the FACTS!!
@WankityWank I always suggest that the likes of you, who speak for communism while benefiting from all the comforts of an imperialist society, go and actually live in a country like Cuba or N.Korea for a while (no, not visit, LIVE) - you would be unpleasantly surprised :D (btw, my grand dad used to speak like you, and then one day he went to the USSR ... he hated communism ever since) - oh wait, USSR wasn't a "true" communist state right? blah blah blah ...
You can drop out of the rat race too! become a bum..no one is forcing you to live in a country that is consider capitalist. Leave! i am sure you will be back within months.
Cuba ruling classes were corrupt i dont care how rich cuba was before the revolution.A poor man on the street who is in poverty doesnt take solace in the fact that at least his country is the 5th largest economy or whatever.Thats not what socialism is about.
IF Cuba is so great, get your ass out of the free country where you live, and go live with those communist assholes.....Then when Cuba becomes free, you can fly with Raúl to North Korea, or Iran......
no Castro turned Cuba into shit, wherever you have a system that allows for unopposed political power you get corruptionand oppression. Cuba is so far behind the 1st world it's scarey only recently have cubans been allowed to own things like cell phones,DVD players and PC's. No one but a fool would believe that's a healthy economy
Socialism has never been tried? where have you been hiding the last 70 years? cuba, the USSR, most of Africa, are just some examples of socialism. And all prove it's a waste of time.
I think you may be confusing socialism and communism. Neither of them will work, in my opinion.
Wheres as capitalism actually does work because it actually encourages you to shit on your brother in order to get on. Well if its all the same with you im happy as a socialist/communist.
got 2 love these backward pagan shitholes, makes the trashy trailerparks in america look pretty nice in comparison. come 2 think of it, at least there is a lot more action and community among the people. all i see here in the 'states' are malls and endless streets and fences dividing everyone and everything. with only two of everything--pepsi or coke, sprite or 7up, mac donalds or burger king, republican or democrate, and so on--u don't have much choice. hey sounds kinda like cuba...
This video reminds me of Miami as hard working Cuban Americans continue to look across the water at Cuba while the criminals they elect-reelect continue to rob them. In Miami the most corrupt Reps can be found while New Orleans the most corrupt Dems can be found. Cuban Americans from Miami and African Americans from New Orleans need to OPEN their eyes.
Thank you to journeyman for affording us an opportunity to look into the lives of others like us, just in a different time and space. With more exposure to the different realities that our fellow men live in we will learn to cope with the pain and suffering we subject ourselves to.
There is no government at this point which has shown true equity from top to bottom. tyranny plague one and virtual anarchy another. Americans seem to let there pride and materialism control their decisions. The cuban system has shown it could give relative quality of life(health and education) and the americans have shown the ability to excel and be productive through materialism. socialize major institutions and be productive but resources are not to be abused. Help someone that could use them
Are you really serious?? Health care?? yeah it may be free but there's never medicines when you need them, education yeah it may be advance, for example when I got here from Cuba they were teaching me in 6th grade what i had already learned in Cuba back in 4th grade, but it's hard to get uniforms and school supplies. Anyways the people you see on TV saying they like the system they have to or else "seguridad del estado" ( much like Russian KGB) will come knocking on your door and take you away.
the embargo doesnt allow medicine food or anything that has at least 10%of us materials on it to get into cuba who is the responsible for the hunger and misery from cuba anwser the us government
you realize that everything available in America is also available my country, Canada, which trades freely with Cuba? Why can't your government buy from us?
Face the facts, the Cuban government is a corrupt joke.
and your government did not allow people to own computers, until very recently. Or DVD players. Who's to blame for that? The USA or having a dictator in charge? The latter i think
Cuba is a free and beautiful country. I saw workers on a lorry (their company lorry!) going to the beach after work and just being happy to be no suppressed but free people that own their country. No capitalist propaganda all the day. No dirty inhuman media and lies .
Instead of no Capitalist propaganda they get feed communist propaganda, considering every school in the country is nationalized, as well as the press, not to mention if you dare to speak bad of the government(as MANY people do in the US) you'd probably face jail time.
The U.S. school system is nationalized too. I think your knee jerk reaction to nationalizing public resources is seriously unfounded.
Before 1958, Iraq's oil was privatized; U.S., Britain, France and Holland owned all of it. The Iraqis got nothing. Saddam nationalized the oil industry after the revolution and built the best state in region. Free education and healthcare, etc. Hardly something to be afraid of...
And that's really unfortunate, that's why I'm for private school vouchers for families. Let me also make it clear that there are alot of families that can afford a cheap private school but don't want to pay for it because they either don't care for private school or they rather make the lease payment on their BMWs. Either way for alot of people there is a choice.
I disagree. There are far more people who cannot simply afford private schools than those who simply choose not to. And why get vouchers? Why don't we just fix the public school system?
Because I don't rely on the government to fix things. I'm a small government guy, I don't think the government is ever competent enough to fix things for me, any government.
I trust private corporations even less with the education of my children. Gov't at least gives the illusion that you have access to it, private corporations will fuck you the moment you turn your back...
I disagree, because private corporations are in the business to make money and if their customers aren't happy then they lose money and will eventually become fucked themselves.
Ha! Capitalists utopia!! Private corps have been fucking people over for decades! Take a look at the healthcare industry...denying people basic health maintanance so as to save the insurance corp money. Greed should NEVER be a part of something as important as education, housing, healthcare, etc.
If there is proper legislation from a small government to protect workers and consumers then people wouldn't be fucked over. A purely capitalist system is a problem, I agree, look at the mortgage crises (even though people got into mortgages THEY KNEW they couldnt afford)there needs to be some protections. But I believe the private sector has more to lose if they suck at their jobs.
Well since in America, gov't is in collusion with private corporations, we will never get the kinds of protections we need.
Private corps are absolutely resolute in their pursuit of superprofits. If they happen to start losing, they'll just liquidate and reform. Or get more welfare from the gov't.
Reform is possible, we're a far cry from how business was conducted a 100 years ago. We just need politicians and legislators that are willing to enact the laws necessary.
Actually I meant re-form, as in reconsolidate. Reform in the contemporary sense is a red herring. Politicians and legislators are part of the problem, being that they are under the influence of corporate lobbyists.
I just don't think the Cuban system is gonna solve any of our problems. My grandparents and parents lived in a communist Cuba, From their accounts, and the accounts of 1,000s of Cubans that flee the island yearly, the situation is by no means good. You can blame it on the US embargo, but the truth is Cuba has always had to rely on outside help, when the soviet bloc was intact the only reason Cuba stayed afloat is because they recieved money from them.
Of course it won't, just as the Soviet system wouldn't solve Cuba's problems. In a society based on egalitarianism, the purpose of politics and economics is to solve problems and provide for the needs of the people.
And the U.S. relies on outside help BIG TIME!! They use imperialism to support this system...at the expense of millions of workers worldwide!
i agree that the leadership can corrupt a whole system but ideally i am for equality and communal living. it beats living in a third-world country i bet. And this country is constantly exploiting those types of countries for their resources and labor. thats why we have a shortages of jobs in america. It's not an overnight change that must be made it is a reevaluation of the importance of certain things we put emphasis on and things we dont.
I'm a Cuban-American, my grandfather fled the island of Cuba in the mid 60s, and I assure you it was not because he was part of any aristocracy, in fact he grew up on a farm. The problem in Cuba is the over bearing tyrannical government, almost every facet of society is nationalized and therefore censored, the schools, the televison, the newspapers etc. Each neighborhood is monitored by a government official, if one publicly speaks poorly of the regime then there are consequences.
You know, there is tyranny and repression here, too. Its even more insidious here because most people believe that they are free, but in reality they are tied to their employers and their debts.
I guess you can look at our country as a Marxist does, but my point is we have freedom of press, we have freedom of assembly, freedom of speech. They don't...
Let me give a quick personal story, my grandfather was put in a work camp in the early 1960s to cut sugar cane, for four years. He was not a criminal nor was he an anti-revolutionary, he simply wanted to leave the country because he did not agree with government. Don't dare tell me that the US tyranny is more "insidious".
No we actually don't have freedom of the press. We don't own or control or even have access to it. It is privately owned and maintained and Americans are spoon fed a steady diet of pure propaganda.
American is an imperialist nation. It destroys whole gov't in pursuit of profits for corporations. What nation has Cuba destroyed?
Cuba destroyed Cuba. I guess we can just disagree, if you feel so passionately about the triumphs of a communist Cuba then you can go live there, I'm sure you'd love it.
yes it is a war between lesser evils. But if you truly belive in a privileged class!(private schooling) Then you are also supporting the exploitation of a labor class. So in conclusion, it is your freedom to justify your beliefs, and your truth is different from mine. the most meaningful revolution will not occur in a physical enviroment , but the revolution of your soul, your spirit, your mind, will be all the more meaningful. Remember this is all temporary. beautiful none the less.
Don't tell me that it isn't. At least you know your ancestry. Ours was wiped out; our names, language and culture was rended from us. Blacks were tortured; some were buried up to their necks and had their heads covered with honey so that ants and other bugs could devour them alive! Others were forced to consume their own feces! US tyranny is paralleled by NO ONE!!
this revolution should happen in this country. Then there is a real equality. And instead of spreading capitalism we should spread economic equity. With more we are given the more responsiblity we have. Why do we hoard all the resources, is it not because of our corrupt moral value system.
Muhcarl, dont be ignorant ,there is no embargo ,the only embargo is the one the cuban goverment impose on its people for 5 decades ,pure comunist propaganda at its best, down with castro and his stuped liberal idiots who idolize him.Muerence hijos de putas asesinos.
Sir, there is no question that there is an embargo on the island nation of Cuba and the embargo has hindered Cuba's ability to provide for its people. Ask any American who wishes to travel to Cuba if there is an embargo.
Propaganda at it's finest. Yes, the people of Cuba did define their future. A future that would start crumbling from day 1. They were taken advantage of by murderers and theives and suffer to this day. But, many of them know nothing better. They think they are so blessed and continue to praise Fidel and Che either from fear or ignorance. I do not know but can only assume both. Batista was evil but less evil than the commies that took over.

If you don't live there and don't have family then I don't want to hear it.
kidcubadaniel 1 year ago

I hate totalitarianism!.

Capice?

But please do not fall for the lies of CAPITALISM as well. Communist supports economic equality. You can still have a communist or socialist government that's a democracy! That has democractically elected bodies and a President!

Help someone that could use them
rafael487221 4 years ago
Are you really serious?? Health care?? yeah it may be free but there's never medicines when you need them, education yeah it may be advance, for example when I got here from Cuba they were teaching me in 6th grade what i had already learned in Cuba back in 4th grade, but it's hard to get uniforms and school supplies. Anyways the people you see on TV saying they like the system they have to or else "seguridad del estado" ( much like Russian KGB) will come knocking on your door and take you away.

edgar0001 4 years ago
Instead of no Capitalist propaganda they get feed communist propaganda, considering every school in the country is nationalized, as well as the press, not to mention if you dare to speak bad of the government(as MANY people do in the US) you'd probably face jail time.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
The U.S. school system is nationalized too.
Hardly something to be afraid of...
muhcarl 4 years ago
There is something called private school here in the US, and you can put your child in private school here is you'd like.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
The vast majority of working class children cannot afford private schools. Public school is their only option.
muhcarl 4 years ago
And that's really unfortunate, that's why I'm for private school vouchers for families. Let me also make it clear that there are alot of families that can afford a cheap private school but don't want to pay for it because they either don't care for private school or they rather make the lease payment on their BMWs. Either way for alot of people there is a choice.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
I disagree. There are far more people who cannot simply afford private schools than those who simply choose not to. And why get vouchers? Why don't we just fix the public school system?
muhcarl 4 years ago
Because I don't rely on the government to fix things. I'm a small government guy, I don't think the government is ever competent enough to fix things for me, any government.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
I trust private corporations even less with the education of my children. Gov't at least gives the illusion that you have access to it, private corporations will fuck you the moment you turn your back...
muhcarl 4 years ago
I disagree, because private corporations are in the business to make money and if their customers aren't happy then they lose money and will eventually become fucked themselves.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
Ha! Capitalists utopia!! Private corps have been fucking people over for decades! Take a look at the healthcare industry...denying people basic health maintanance so as to save the insurance corp money. Greed should NEVER be a part of something as important as education, housing, healthcare, etc.
muhcarl 4 years ago
If there is proper legislation from a small government to protect workers and consumers then people wouldn't be fucked over. A purely capitalist system is a problem, I agree, look at the mortgage crises (even though people got into mortgages THEY KNEW they couldnt afford)there needs to be some protections. But I believe the private sector has more to lose if they suck at their jobs.

Well since in America, gov't is in collusion with private corporations, we will never get the kinds of protections we need.
Private corps are absolutely resolute in their pursuit of superprofits. If they happen to start losing, they'll just liquidate and reform. Or get more welfare from the gov't.
muhcarl 4 years ago
Reform is possible, we're a far cry from how business was conducted a 100 years ago. We just need politicians and legislators that are willing to enact the laws necessary.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
Actually I meant re-form, as in reconsolidate. Reform in the contemporary sense is a red herring. Politicians and legislators are part of the problem, being that they are under the influence of corporate lobbyists.

I just don't think the Cuban system is gonna solve any of our problems. My grandparents and parents lived in a communist Cuba, From their accounts, and the accounts of 1,000s of Cubans that flee the island yearly, the situation is by no means good. You can blame it on the US embargo, but the truth is Cuba has always had to rely on outside help, when the soviet bloc was intact the only reason Cuba stayed afloat is because they recieved money from them.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago

Each neighborhood is monitored by a government official, if one publicly speaks poorly of the regime then there are consequences.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
You know, there is tyranny and repression here, too. Its even more insidious here because most people believe that they are free, but in reality they are tied to their employers and their debts.
muhcarl 4 years ago
I guess you can look at our country as a Marxist does, but my point is we have freedom of press, we have freedom of assembly, freedom of speech. They don't...
Let me give a quick personal story, my grandfather was put in a work camp in the early 1960s to cut sugar cane, for four years. He was not a criminal nor was he an anti-revolutionary, he simply wanted to leave the country because he did not agree with government. Don't dare tell me that the US tyranny is more "insidious".
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
No we actually don't have freedom of the press. We don't own or control or even have access to it. It is privately owned and maintained and Americans are spoon fed a steady diet of pure propaganda.
American is an imperialist nation. It destroys whole gov't in pursuit of profits for corporations. What nation has Cuba destroyed?
muhcarl 4 years ago
Cuba destroyed Cuba. I guess we can just disagree, if you feel so passionately about the triumphs of a communist Cuba then you can go live there, I'm sure you'd love it.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
Why would I go there? My ancestors were here before any of you...why don't YOU move if you don't like people having a difference of opinion?
muhcarl 4 years ago
Why not, you apparently hate the US, and certainly not gonna change. I just want you to be happy.
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
I have the U.S. gov't not the people of America. Moving to Cuba will not make me hate the gov't any less.
muhcarl 4 years ago
yes it is a war between lesser evils. Remember this is all temporary. beautiful none the less.
rafael487221 4 years ago
Don't tell me that it isn't. At least you know your ancestry. Ours was wiped out; our names, language and culture was rended from us. Blacks were tortured; some were buried up to their necks and had their heads covered with honey so that ants and other bugs could devour them alive! Others were forced to consume their own feces! US tyranny is paralleled by NO ONE!!
muhcarl 3 years ago
i believe it is those who cannot stand to live in relative equality with the afro-cuban population who choose to flee.
rafael487221 4 years ago 2
Wow, I suppose all the afro-cubans that flee the country can't live in equality with other afro-cubans, huh?
myguitarisaweapn 4 years ago
If Cuba is so wonderful, why do so many Cubans risk drowning at sea to escape to the US?
smeegma 4 years ago
Isn't it obvious? The U.S. embargo has decimated the Cuban economy and those fleeing simply are cracking under 40+ years of pressure.
muhcarl 4 years ago
this revolution should happen in this country. Then there is a real equality. And instead of spreading capitalism we should spread economic equity. With more we are given the more responsiblity we have. Why do we hoard all the resources, is it not because of our corrupt moral value system.

Muhcarl, dont be ignorant ,there is no embargo ,the only embargo is the one the cuban goverment impose on its people for 5 decades ,pure comunist propaganda at its best, down with castro and his stuped liberal idiots who idolize him.Muerence hijos de putas asesinos.
bejucaleno 4 years ago
