  • I'm learning Gumboot Dancing. Deep respect for the history of this dance & the African culture. It's definitely harder than it looks!!

  • I dance and Learn Gumboot at school. We are not african. And this year, we are making a project of creation.!

  • We had to learn this dance at school the other day... its not as easy as it looks. these guys were pro.. the dance was invented when slaves in the mines were told that they couldent talk and so they invented this dance to "chat"

  • I am sorry to be pedantic, but gumboot dancing is not "Zulu." It is very S African, its origins are on the mines in S Africa; but it is not Zulu.

  • Looks good but I wish the video quality was better. Where was this taken?

  • Video taken with Canon Ixux 50 camera, hence quality not so good. The video was taken at the Bhuddist temple during the Chinese New Year Celebrations in Bronkhorstspruit South Africa

  • Thanks for telling me that. We don't get much gumboot in Cape Town except with kids I teach. I don't teach the gumboot, I teach them singing, but they do their own thing and are really good, I'll try to get something and post it in the new year.
