Nearly four years have passed since you posted this very interesing vid. How is she doing these days? I hope she's feeling better. It's an interesting statue as well as a memorial to Nightingale, who deserves it. As s art - a nice example of Thirties Moderne until you see her face which is almost classical. And without hand and that pipe sticking out of her stomach, she does look undeservedly grotesque.
NYC has Central Park because its residents wanted a green & serence place to retreat to, and it's too bad LA let this fine park take a dump. They might as well turn the park into a tent city with all the recidivists hanging out there.
I feel pity for this statue of Florence Nightingale. As a nurse myself, I looked up to her examples and try as much as I can to imulate her virtues and possibly follow the teachings she imparted. The valuabe Nursing theories she formulated since that Crimean War of 1853 to 1856 molded what is known today as the modern nursing.
I hope it will be fixed and restored so that the children of today will be able to know her more and aspire to live her examples of selfless nursing care.
I would love to figure out how I can use this video. Id like to learn how to upload it and use it in my lectures. As a board certified holistic RN I believe in florence nightengale.
I just came and looked at it again - this is a highly remarkable video and belongs in an art museum itself.
