LOL But my fiance is closer to what Forney is in the book. He's much older than I am. Forney in the movie looks like he's barely in his 30s. In the book, he's 36 while Novalee is 18. That's 18 years' difference. In the movie, it looks like maybe 10 years.

@pinksullrox I know! I love the movie, but they changed so much of the book for it. Forney looked different, Sister looked different, a lot of characters & plot lines were taken out, and the ending was changed! Though, I guess the ending in the movie fits the typical Hollywood ending. LOL

i wouldn't say that novalee is that bright. i mean she trusted her mother who had run out on her when she was little with all her money! she gave her $500 thinking she would actually take care of her when that lady didn't even care enough about her own daughter when she was little! what made her think that it'd suddenly change? that's just plain naive.

Novalee hung onto the hope/dream that her mom would change and finally be there to love and support her. yeah, it was naive and rather illogical considering the woman's history, but in that moment she was just a scared little girl in her wanting her mommy. not to mention, with her low self-esteem, she blamed herself. she learned to think it was her fault for being abandoned all the time. didnt feel worthy
