From across the pond I can give you two opinions from a foreign policy perspective. The first is that the more divided Europe is, the more they rely on NATO/America for their defense and the US benefits from their dependence. The other is that Europe will not survive the 21st Century without a unified Economy and Defense, and unity is essential.

But the voice of America or China is greater in the world. nobody listens to Europe. I believe that it could seriously become an amazing model for world unification (African Union, American Union, Asian Union).

I am well aware of that, I've actually read both the constitution & the lisbon treaty. I'm not sure if you know but the reason why most people were repelled by the constitution was because of it's symbolic meaning. Most citizens felt like they were giving up of the national sovereignty (remember the flag, the motto and the anthem). The Lisbon treaty is mostly the same political re-arrangements minus the symbolism. I agree with you that it's somewhat of a bad move by the EU politicans
so you are aware that is the constitution minus the symbolic elements in writing ( which still exist and will still be used ) just so the people can not have a vote on it in every country.

This Charta is already now law in many countries, for example Austria. I don't see any police men here who have the right to shoot people for resisting arrest.
Moreover, this exemption clause has been even addressed and ruled out by the treaty. The protection must not be reduced by the Charta in comparision to status quo

From across the pond I can give you two opinions from a foreign policy perspective. The first is that the more divided Europe is, the more they rely on NATO/America for their defense and the US benefits from their dependence. The other is that Europe will not survive the 21st Century without a unified Economy and Defense, and unity is essential.

Okay, here's the thing. I'm not a huge fan of the EU as it is today either. I'm not very satisfied with the way the union works today. It's politics are hypocritical, but that can be said about any other rich and powerful country. What I like about the union, is it's possible future. I believe that it could seriously become an amazing model for world unification (African Union, American Union, Asian Union).

I am well aware of that, I've actually read both the constitution & the lisbon treaty. I'm not sure if you know but the reason why most people were repelled by the constitution was because of it's symbolic meaning. Most citizens felt like they were giving up of the national sovereignty (remember the flag, the motto and the anthem). The Lisbon treaty is mostly the same political re-arrangements minus the symbolism. I agree with you that it's somewhat of a bad move by the EU politicans

The point I'm trying to make is that yes, they are trying to impose a treaty without referendums, but that the treaty itself is not as scary as the british/irish politicians make it seem. Can't you see that most of your politicians are using the EU and the european unification as a scapegoat for domestic problems they are unable to solve?
Fear is the most powerful political weapon, and it's always nice to have something to scare people into submission with.

Stand up against this tyranny NOW before it's too late. Abolish all these treaties. Their not needed. It's a total waist of your time and money to have to defend your sovereignty. Who would ever want such a despicable system is insain.

i like europe i just dont like the fact the EU governmanet are not elected and not accountable to anyone and after this treaty they even place themselves above the law!!!!
The E.U is adopting the political model of Soviet Union. An EU dictator is maybe 1 year away if we are lucky!!!

No one is above the law. Please show in detail where that should be the case.
Don't forget, also European law is law. And the treaty of Lisbon does not change anything about the position European law has in the national law systems, except for the the aspect that it actually limits European laws superiority on national constitutions.
Comparing the EU to the Soviet Union is hilarious for various reasons and show little understanding of the matter.

Absolutely & since they weren't voted on by the people it becomes a dictatorship formed by the elite. Hosted by fear from the super rich for their one world government.
I was thinking about the One World Government today and realised. OK What if you want choice, there will be none, only theirs.
It's like going to the grocery store for bread and they have Brand X & Brand X & Brand X. Where is the Choice ?

Hm, the private no campaign "Libertas" in Ireland spent more on campaigning than all political parties in Ireland together. Doesn't that cause anyone here to think about it all?
Without the political background of the EU, the single market would be impossible to maintain. Every other comment is illusionary. Without political power protecting that single market it would break down within a short time due national protectionism.
And without a working single market Europe would see the results...

anyone who signs up to the Lisbon Treaty is a coward. We need to stand up to the unelected assholes in Brussels that we will take no more. And a correction, the Irish rejected it first. The Fench and Germans couldn't unite Europe via war so now they're using the EU to do it.

oh man, i have not heard more disinformation: OK, here's the deal: if they do not impose the Lisbon treaty, the EU will NOT be able to create a Common Security and Defense Policy as one entity in the international system which will elevate the EU to the status of an official full force superpower (like the USA and the risign China and India) and not just a little "civilian" power that needs to kiss the ass of the USA and others all the time when it comes to defense and security!

It couldn't be done in any other way! Actually the French and the Germans, with this new treaty, will SEIZE to be the "old" "core" Europe that used to dictate directives to the smaller countries of the EU. Hence, it is NOT to their interest if you think about it because they will need to give up considerable chunks of their sovereign powers to influence decision-making in Bruselles and dictate foreign policy for their countries as singel entities!

I am finishing my Thesis (200+) places on Transatlantic Relations in the post post-Cold War era: Global Governance in the era of Post-Internationalism. Trust me, the Lisbon Treaty is one of the best things that has happened for the EU since we already have the strongest currency, the Euro, and we ARE the economic superpower of the international system!

I study in the USA and I am European, if the rest of the Europeans like to kiss the ass of the American leaders all the time, like G Bush, and their thugs inside the EU, like Blair and the Polish government, and not ever have military power of your own to decide about war and peace in your neighborhoods, then continue nagging about the treat.

under new laws in the treaty police officers will be able to kill people for resisting arrest, all european politicians will be placed above the law, we can not vote for the commission, our european nationality will be superior to that of our current independent nationality. our governments will be for show and rubber stamp all laws passed (currently 75-80 % of all ouyr laws come direct from the EU

BS beyond imagination. No one is allowed to kill someone else with the treaty of Lisbon. You probably refer to the an exemption clause in the European Charta of Human Rights. This Charta is already now law in many countries, for example Austria. I don't see any police men here who have the right to shoot people for resisting arrest.
Moreover, this exemption clause has been even addressed and ruled out by the treaty. The protection must not be reduced by the Charta in comparision to status quo

Under new rules to be introduced next April, Schengen Information II,anyone who has a European Arrest Warrant issued against them will be automatically arrested. National courts must then allow an extradition, even if there are concerns about the standards of justice in the country they are being sent to, and even for minor offences including driving offences.
Estimates suggest 1,050 and 1,700 a year will be extradited when Schengen II comes into effect.

Eisenhower and Churchill supported European Integration So did Orwell and camus. Hitler was against european integration and forbade nazis to formulate such ideas.
