  • This helped out big time! I was out of town working when my girlfriends alternator went out. I gave her this link and she was able to change it herself with me on the phone walking her through it also. never heard hercuss so much about her knuckles...lol.. great job!!

  • Thanks. Video was good overview before I went in and scrapped my knuckles. Almost exactly the same procedure for my 99 Ford Exploder.

  • ok so i replaced the battery and the alternator, why is the car still not starting? any tips or something?

  • @dannyven18 If it cranks over put does not catch. Check for to make sure you have spark and fuel pressure

  • @1aauto thanks for the tip, i found out that the battery was malfunctioning so i got a new one (got it replaced) and now its as good as new. Thanks so much for the video, helped a lot.

  • Any videos on how to replace an alternator on an '02 Escape? It seems like it is going to be a huge P.I.A!! Even some pointers or tips would be amazing.

  • do u have the ones where u can replace the battery cables and stopping AC leak ? On an explorer, 95 ?

  • i just replaced the alt on my 98 mountaineer. your tutorial helped out alot. The 3/8in tensioner oully was super tight so i nudged it just enough to slip the belt off and

waalaa...rest of the install was a breeze.

  • this wasn't exactly how I had to replace the alternator on my 02 ford ranger but it was close enough and it got me to do the job myself which saved me time and money. Thanks!

    very useful vids.

  • thank you 1a auto, aloha

  • This is the second video you posted that helped me fix my Explorer. Thanks so much.

  • this video helps alot thank you.

  • Why would you take the belt all the way off? It adds two extra steps .

    1:removing completely and then

    2: having to reinstall.

  • @lughead6 True you do not have to remove the belt fully, but if you do the information is there to get everything back together.

  • Great video. Would I change the alternator on my V8 model, the same way as in the video ?

  • @BlacknRedTed Procedure should be similar.

  • @1aauto Alright. Thanks alot. I am going to go and try and change this now.

  • @1aauto I have a 1999 Ford Explorer 5.0 V8. That space to reach the square tensioner slot is so tight; nearly impossible to see. Then, there is what I would identify as the radiator hose being right in the way. It is a direct obstruction. What can I do to get past this roadblock, so to speak?

  • @GSnugg You might have to push the radiator hose out of the way, or possibly even remove it.

  • saved me a trip to the repair shop!

  • Great video!! you guys are the best !!!!

  • Great Video saved me a few hours and a few $100 bucks thanks

  • thanks :) that really helped
