@f44life As you are correct that you should be able to use something you have bought all the time the GTO does not do well in the snow. I drove mine this last winter in the DC area and must say my Suburban which I bought to drive in the snow did much better. I would rather be called a panzy than have the car I bought for fun wrecked because of a bad VA driver. There again the idiot drivers here cannot drive in nice weather.
Also, if this car makes that much hp at the tires then it would have to be making somewhere over 600 hp at the flywheel. Again let's see the dyno sheet or better yet the car on the dyno so we can watch the computer read out during the run

This GTO does sound very nice however with no internal work (ie: rotating assembly) it is highly unlikely it is making 550 rwhp. I agree with the comment saying somewhere in the 400s. I would like to see the dyno sheet for this car.

@GXPFiend My 2001 SS Camaro is making 450 with 92mm T.B., 92mm Intake Manni, Ported heads, milder cam than his, and a mild street tune. And I have the LS1 which is rated at about 350 factory. I don't think it would be too hard to get 500 out of a LS2 with a good cam, exhasut, and a bad ass tune which like you said is rated at 400 factory. And who said that's all he has done, He might have, T.B., Manni, ported heads. Who knows.

It also depends on the type of cam and supporting mods he has, your cammed goat (that you probably don't have) isn't his.

also...lilballa8159.... the motor has something call a "thermostat" which opens when the engine reachs that temperature...so the engine is running at that temperature regardless of the snow and cold. dont comment unless you know what the hell you are talking about

It had 2 miles on it when I got it on Oct. 25, 2004. It now has 68,000 miles on it. As for everyone saying I need a tune...its been tuned a long time now. I did this video right after I put the longtubes on. Im running a 150 shot on it now. Made 500rwhp and 530rwtq on a 125 shot. Havent had a chance to see what it makes on the 150.
all of you that think theres something wrong with the car...lack of spark plugs or barely running...etc. when you do a cam job on a car thats even worth your time..it gets a lil lope in the idle. but once you plant that right foot to the floor...u dominate everything around u.
Mine handles like shit in the snow, won't even move, just sits there. But that said, I have high performance summer tires on so what do it know - hmmm.
Anyway, if you own a GTO, then you never intended to ride it hard in the snow. Leave that to those well known AWD ricer cards!

I took this video before I got it tuned and everything...it runs alot better now...Got the rev limiter raised to 7200rpms. It alot lower in this video.
first off the most important thing its procharged, and i run 5 on a daily basis and 8 psi when i go to the track, it has a pypes catback with violator mufflers, im waiting on springs shocks and wheels right now, a rear seat delete, its a vert so im probably going to get speedster covers soon as well

I do have to admit... I don't think there actually is an exaust on this thing, unless you have ones that exit on the side. Whenever it revs, you can see it throwing snow from in front of the rear tire.

Sorry dude, but the LS1 is nothing at all like a "basic small block chevy", it is a clean sheet design that shares no parts. Stock LS1 heads flow as good or better than many aftermarket Gen 1 SBC race heads.

I took this video before I got it tuned and everything...it runs alot better now...Got the rev limiter raised to 7200rpms. It alot lower in this video.

first off the most important thing its procharged, and i run 5 on a daily basis and 8 psi when i go to the track, it has a pypes catback with violator mufflers, im waiting on springs shocks and wheels right now, a rear seat delete, its a vert so im probably going to get speedster covers soon as well

I love the sound but you need a tune man, also, why you choose a reverse split camshaft? I have a stock quicksilver 04, glad to see people showing ls1 love, seems all i see is ls2 this lsx that.

Large cam, low idle, V-8 motor, with free flowing exaust(Headers)will get you that sound.

Sounds just like the old skool muscle cars. The idle sound makes it sound like a beast. Leave it looking plain, ull smoke the other punks and they wont even know it.

I do have to admit... I don't think there actually is an exaust on this thing, unless you have ones that exit on the side. Whenever it revs, you can see it throwing snow from in front of the rear tire.

I wish... I had a set of $50 cutouts laying around...So I just welded them. I do have to take 3 nuts off but its still sweet at the track.

wow thats a preatty big statement. The LS1 is a rebuild of the basic chevy small block which i dont know if you know cars or not but its been around awile. IM preatty sure that over the past 40 or more years of its street use there has been a shit ton of them tuned to perfection. Make a legit statement cuz your the one sounding like a jackass!

Sorry dude, but the LS1 is nothing at all like a "basic small block chevy", it is a clean sheet design that shares no parts. Stock LS1 heads flow as good or better than many aftermarket Gen 1 SBC race heads.

yes but none the less the block is a small block chevy and i have never herd of a bad small block chevy! I dont care what size, number or name of the motor. The statement before was directed at the idiot who said "woo hoo you tuned up a LS1 yada yada yada. Not the the owner of the car. I think it sounds great. Its to bad my GP has a V6 in it cuz i cant get a nasty sound like that.

why in the hell would u put a cam in a newer car like.. I wish it woulda spun a main bearing when u tached it up...boy are you in for lots of future work
