  • 2:21 - 4:45 look no further, best part!

  • We all dream of glory, we all died...and glory.. is of the end nothing.....

  • Bummer... you missed the part...

    "Shields, break off!"

    "The shields are here!"

"AHHH!!! DRIVE FOR THE HOLE! DRIVE FOR THE HOLE!!!"

Best part of the whole battle scene besides the "Zeus be with us!" section.

  • Who cares about the details. Listen to the music and feel the courage and majesty of those times. Just be quiet and drink it all in. Let the little ego take flight - here in front of you, is much power. Enjoy.

  • yeah right....and Obama is chinese.....

  • However, the soundtrack of Alexander the film is dreamlike, nevertheless, it is no legend separate a dictator of his time! He made hundred thousands to bring only around his will by and you idolize or praise him!!! Wake up!

  • @DSAIntimAirbrush great men write history with blood

  • We are still open to everybody who wants to be Greek... even you people of fyrom you can try to be one of us..it is not a shame if you just ask it. It is so simply!! You have just to ask it. Of course if you feel like Greek and not like Slav or Gypsy or whatever... ask it and we will see what we can do!

  • Hail Vangelis! the great Greek composer! Hail Alexander! the great Greek warrior!

  • @AlexanderMacedon1 you are a SLAV!get over it!Even if alexander wasn't greek he certaintly wasnt a SLAV!you came here 800 years later and you call yourselfs macedonians, but I don't blame you, your governement has brainwashed you.....slav!

  • @AlexanderMacedon1 first of all, learn how to type English, Homo Erectus lol

  • officially favorited. They so need to do an HBO series like Rome but be a 5 season life story of Alexander. From his father uniting greece to his death. Why oh why doesnt HBO see how good that would be. It would have sex, corruption, assassination, war and even religion.

  • The greatest general!!!The Greatest Greek!!!!!!

  • @Umbrella0021 yes,to Scipio,in the end Hannibal lost,Alexander never lost a battle!But I agree,Hannibal is one of the best ever!

  • at 2:20 it gets epic

  • @trustmeU2needhelp Lol well put!

  • 2:36----->3:12 superb

  • Alexander the Great: Truly one of the greatest military leaders of all time. And now a message to all citizens of Greece and the FYROM: Stop your stupid political bitching about Alexander. No one gives a shit, and Alexander belongs to no one. STFU and hail him as the awesome guy he was.

  • My greatest hero.

  • Do someone know the instrument in the besginning?

  • The ancient macedons were of dorian blood. Same stock as many greeks, even though they were considered outsiders back then because they were northern mountain people (but still rather civilised)

The Modern Slavic nation of macedonia shouldnt lay claim to Alexander. You are only Macedon in all but Name. Slavs didnt arrive in that part of the world until hundreds of years after alexander,

  • evently Alexander conquered for the only valid reason: to connect the people of the world!

  • ALEKSANDAR IS MACEDONIAN !!!!!!

  • @Daniel622440 Macedonia is Greek So it's like saying Alexander is Greek! THANKS! What a new!... -.-

  • @goshlike76 Not at the time, The greeks called the Macedonian's barbarians and wanted nothing to do with them until Philip forced them into an Alliance but after Philip's murder they rebelled and Alexander taught them a lesson. Macedonia was seperate from Greece and Alexander always was a Macedonian. Never a Greek.

And before someone says it, no I am not Greek or Macedonian and I have done extensive research, I am writing a book about Alexander.

  • @Leondias656 First of all your research was not accurate since I with my extensive research reading historic books not only Greek but from other cultures and saw that the Greeks of the south didn't have many connections with the Greeks of the north( Macedonians, Hepirians, Thracians) because of the High mountains separating them. That means the couldn't transfer the same culture to them but they could see the greek spirit combining them! The Greeks of Macedonia were competing in the Olympic...

  • @Leondias656 games that only Greeks could participate that time! After that Macedonia is a greek province and all greeks had different names( Athenians, Spartans, Macedonians) but above all they had the name Greeks! And Alexander called himself a Greek historically proven! As for the calling ''barbarians'' is wrong! The Greeks of the south were calling them Greeks with a long helmet to the top because in the other type of helmets they were wearing! So write your book but if you do it with the...

  • @Leondias656 moto that Alexander was never a Greek you 'll be considered a liar except for the Fyromians or Skopians! Macedonia is the place were Greeks came from! Dorians for instance! Search better and not only Skopian Propagandas!

  • @goshlike76 From what I have read, they considered Macedon how the Romans considered the Greeks. Civillised but just not us. Still an outsider. He was from Macedon which was a total backwater when Philip, his father took over. Either way, he still led Greeks & Macedon to the far reaches of the known world and was responsible for the spread of Hellenism into Asia. What is Skopian Propoganda?

  • @Leondias656 please don't tell me that he was the ancestor of the Skopians!!! Macedonians were Greek as for the example with the Romans doesn't fit here! The Greeks of Macedonia were way more civilised! If you'd search even deeper you'd realise that Aristoteles was a Macedonian and he was considered Greek! Apart from that many other Greeks of the south were visiting Pella like Euripides so they were not considered uncivilised just less civilised! Search more!

  • @Leondias656 The skopian propaganda is a fake history of Fyrom in order to show, false, that they are descendants of the ancient Macedonians! They claim that Alexander the Great who was a Macedonian, Greek above all, was their leader! Leader of Slavs! Alexander! They claim that Thessalonikh is theirs and that they should have the region of Macedonia! Don't read it! Instead you can read historic books not only Greek persian egyptian etc! It 'll be useful for your book!

  • @goshlike76 Oh I see what you mean, you thought that I was saying because Alexander was Macedonian and not Greek you thought I was associating him with modern day Macedon. The Slavic nation. I read all I can get my hands on and to be honest I agree with you on the point that Modern day fyrom should not lay claim to Alexander because he was not slavic, the only thing they share is the name and the geography. Although the Greeks should be allowed to claim Alexander because he spread Hellenism, ...

  • @goshlike76 It should be remembered that he was always an Ancient Macedonian first. I know Aristotle was Macedonian. However it is less well known amongst the public. In my book so far I have ensured that I have stuck to the facts regarding Philip, Alexander and Aristotle. I have used the ancient sources the most, but I have used my 'poetic license' to ensure I have a captivating book. The Greeks of the south started visiting Pella after Philip took over and turned it into a powerhouse.

  • @Leondias656 Wrong! Even from King Archelaous who brought Euripides! However the Macedonians refered to themselves as Greeks! Even if some Greeks of the south were calling them barbarians they called them selves Greeks! So as they were speaking the greek language worshipping the same Gods and had the same culture! Well even his name was Greek! Alexander= Protector of Men! Nevertheless I see your point and I would like to read your book. Message me please about tittle when will be published etc!

  • @goshlike76 Unaware of that about Euripdes, my book is called "To the end of the world. Alexander" I am creating a character, Theocles, of the house of Perdicas and it is written from his point of view as a childhood companion of Alexander. I felt that Alexander's personality was to complex to ever write about in first person. I promise it will be vivid and in splendid detail. I have only started though so I have no idea when it is going to be finished. I am starting 6 years before the battle ..

  • @goshlike76 ..before the battle at Chyronea (spelling) I am trying to ensure I stay as accurate as possible so that I do not insult the Greek civilization or the Persian civilization. Hopefully it will be a success..

  • @Leondias656 Dude, that sounds great! If you can, adapt a version into a screenplay and make it into a movie. Just make sure the right director gets attached. Zach Snyder or Ridley Scott would be my first choice.

  • @gatesoftanhauser If it ever does get published and adapted into a screenplay, I would get Ridley scott as a director or maybe James Cameron. Both have splendid attention to detail which I crave. I will also say no if they attempt to make it any less gory then it is in the book. Think SAW applied to Ancient battlefield.

  • @Leondias656 Yes! That's the idea. Perhaps a combined team of Darren Aronofsky and Ridley Scott. Aronofsky's visuals and setting (watch The Fountain to understand where I'm coming from) combined with Sir Ridley's action and screenplay would combine for an awesome movie. You would need a composer as good as Vangelis, though I doubt he would want to do another film. He's reclusive and hard to coax to work, apparently.Perhaps mix "samples" of Vangelis's OST into Hans Zimmer's work?

  • @gatesoftanhauser I am partial towards Hans Zimmer doing the work, I think something based on the soundtrack used in angels & demons for the more elegent refined bits with a greek twist to it and something like his "Gladiator-am I not merciful and the battle" soundtracks. Love, Sex, Gore and a tale of adventure stretching across half the world. What is there not to like?

  • why has'nt he released all the songs yet? none of the good ones are on the album.

  • "PAY ATTENTION LAD! YOUR FATHER STILL WATCHES YOU"

  • @cripplehawk this says Cleitus when saves Alexander in the movie?

  • Да живее Александар!

  • the greatest of greeks!

  • Alexander the great. He tried to liberate the world.

  • there he goes...ROOAAARRRRR!!!!

  • I just can say that this voices from the begging 0:05 are still in the modern Macedonian folklore and weddings.

  • But this song is in the soundtrack. Still love it, though.

  • ΕΛΕΥΘΕΡΙΑ

  • There are no words that can describe the feeling I had while listening to this magnificent work of art.Thank you Vangelis!
