the only reason there is no highspeed in the US is because they rather have a dedicated line instead of just installing cab signalling on all the lines. Acela is not exactly what i call highspeed anyway. the Eurostar in UK can go from London to Paris in just 2 1/2 hours. making its average speed almost double what the Acela can do in its 530 miles from Boston to Washington DC (5hrs)
Shows again where rail is a necessity or marketable it works. The East is the best region for high speed rail. Not transcon and certainly not in California
