I feel like the ending part shows the difference between them both. Onegin walks down a dark hallway, with kind of a brooding emotion going and enters the white, almost eerily silent room where Olga sits and she seems more empty and almost stonefaced
Onegin's biggset fault is that he never did anything with himself, at all gave himself any direction. I wonder if the prophecy would have come true, if he had become a soldier and they would have married. Tat's prophecy is that she would marry a soldier and it would have been a neat twist and clever ending, no?
It is such a common, painful event in our lives. At least Tatiana voiced it. Most of us, when we feel strongly (men or women), we never say it and they might know it but reject us with equal silence. And thus, you are just left with an emptiness.
By the way: The music from 3:33 onwards is the wonderful quintet from the first act of Beethoven's only opera, Fidelio - 'Mir ist so wunderbar'. We can hear Otto Klemperer's famous recording with Christa Ludwig as Leonore.
It's not an undershirt; it's a men's corset. In the 1830s, men's fashion (especially the coat) was extremely tight and tailored, with an emphasis on a small waist and fitted sleeves. It was not unheard of for fashionable men, or "dandies" like Onegin to wear such a garment to improve the lines of their ensemble. I think it's great that this movie gave a nod to such practice... it shows real knowledge and dedication on part of the costumer(s)!
This is an incredible story. Imagin meeting your only love and not knowing, not recognising them. I am sure this has happened to many of us. Then you lose the only chance of happiness you will have - so sad.
I want that skating outfit! If I had tried that, I would have face planted right at his feet!

Is Onegin wearing a corset?

@KKislitsyna Does kinda look like that huh? I wouldn't think so though. Doesn't fit the character. Maybe its just the way that undershirts were then.
