Look, the government has to have subsidies and take care of thier people to an extent to controll inflation. Take that tool away and we are in deeper troubles. My wife works because we want better insurance. Sure it would be nice to have it for "free" but what about when inflation strikes and we need workers in the market compeating for wage to drive the price down? The VA actually has great quality care and has better outcomes than private insurances. There's a lot of research showing this - no one has been able to show that private insurance does just as good or better than the VA system.

Please watch TR Reid's PBS special "Sick around the World". We need a single payer system like Germany. That's where the govern. collects the funds & then they are dispersed to the NOT for profit insurance company (called a mutuallity in Germany & Belgium) and they pay out claims. You can receive service from any doctor, hospital, PT , Chiro, etc that is licensed to practice. Used the system, as a Belgian citizen. It works better than the US one where for profit insur. co. make all decisions.

Our healthcare system now is in ruin. I had to go to emergency in another state. I was covered and was there for four hours. I received ten bills from different branches of that hospital. Totally disorganized. I was threatened with collections, though I have insurance. We need this reform, Hunnaweens. HC is a JOKE now and it's all about money, and greed.
