Bruce Lee showed us how to destroy the New World Order in this scene. This is why it was cut out of the original version of the movie. His smashing of the mirror was not just breaking mirrors but "destroying the image of the enemy". Think about the power of television, and movies.... all images that can have such an impact on our lives... What he did was applied metaphysics... Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Life is but a dream.....
The extended mirror room sequence was seen in asia for many years till warner dvd in 1998 decided to repackage the original print with a slight clean-up and improved audio, with an unused soundtrack for some of the mirror scenes.
Originally it wasn't in the US release, watch the VHS release from the 80's. This scene makes more sense on why he breaks the glass! Before I always wondered why he was breaking the glass, I just thought he was pissed off!
Anyone noticed that there is more distance between the scratches on his body than between the ones on his face? Which would suggest to sizes of claws. The producers totally messed that up.
the scene was there, but the voice over telling him to destroy the mirrors was not in the ver i saw as a kid almost 20 years ago, since then there were heaps of director/updated/remastered editions. either way, i think it was better without the voiceover, you kinda see him figuring it out and destroying that shit and the voice in the head is just distracting.
@radio100censura this scene was placed into the 25th anniversary edition of the movie in 1998. it should have been left in because it's very important advice.
Lets face it, folks: Bruce Lee climbed The Golden Stairs because he overworked himself to death; the human body can only endure so much stresses and pressures before it says, "F-THIS MAN, I AM BEATEN!!!" Nevermind all the quacks and nonsenses about the angry mobs, "magic touch," or other ancient Chinese ricebowl stories that were blamed on his demise!!!
@grumpypant ~Actually they consider his death controversial so they hushed the facts. But an article in blackbelt magazine went into detail with a coroners report and admission from his wife. The cause was not stress and fatique, but rather an adverse reaction to "?" which caused his very strange death, & this was their conclusion. Odd thing is they decided to substitute "?1' for "?2" in fear of losing his public integrity.
lets just say his friends & family really know; so the mystery is ours.
Ok , this scene was not used in the original release. It was not used until the 25th anniversary dvd release in 1998. So chrisssjkd is correct. Also the monk scene was not used until 1998. All releases prior to 1998 did not have this scene or the monk scene.
@macaroonlee the monk scene and the mirror scene was released in 73 mandarin (ie japan and other asian territories) yet only on one version of cinema released but not usa or europeean countries so i hope its helpful . of corse its been redubbed in dvd etc with actors voice not bruces even though it was poss to use bruces voice as he did dub it whilst he was still with us...walk on
i am surprised how can people just upload somethign without even thinking - THIS WAS THE PART OF THE MOVIE SCENE. BETTER TAKE CARE FROM NEXT TIME CHRISSSJKD.
nahh bro, it wasn't man. as a kid when I saw Enter the Dragon with my dad, that voice of the abbott was not there before. i even still have the original vhs tape to prove it, but anyway...yeaa, this was a new scene to me...i guess they put it in all the new versions now
There's another deleted scene in ETD that many of you don't know about: Bruce comes across a status of Buddha and punches off the head part, yelling: "WHERE'S THE WISDOM YOU PROMISED, OLD MAN...YOU ARE A REAL CLASSICAL MESS!!!"
Unfortunately, Warner Bros. will not release it because many religious fanatics would burn and loot planet worldwide!
Wtf? Anyways, this missing mirror scene I remember seeing this on video back in 1985. There is another scene that they don't show but is obvious that it's missing. The scene with the female in his room. When Bruce tells her that he knows who she is, they cut out the scene where she walks him across the room and looking to see if anyone is probing. We just see her telling him about the palace. I remember that scene back in 1982.
That's because it was missing in the movie released here in 1972 and on video for years before they released the DVD anniversary version. Even the part where he's talking to the Monk was not in the movie and video. It's a different type of story with the edit. He's more like a James Bond type on a mission in the 1972 version. In Hong Kong version he's a student that's still growing. Bruce's philosophy.
Wasn't deleted, it's in my DVD version, the scene and the sound. I have the Bruce Lee ultimate collection which has 6 movies. But only 4 and 1/3 have him (Bruce) in it.
yes it was deleted. It was added to DvD which was the first time that it was released in the States some 30 plus yrs later, including the scene of him talking to the Monk.
This scene IS in the final film, but that crappy voiceover is NOT. It's the dubbed voice of the master he talks to briefly in the beginning of the film...the master scene was added back in for the dvd release, but the sound element was never re recorded, so they used sound alikes for the scene.
Not on the original screen show back during the 70's when it was released. It was added to the DVD and was the first time that it was shown unedited on video/dvd in the States. Before that, it was cut from the movies.
when i seen enter the dragon for the first time on VHS, this scene was in it. so when i watch it on a tv showing, they seem to not have this part along with other scenes.
Ditto, that scene and the scene with him talking to the monk was the original that was never released on the 1972 screen release here in the States and when it hit the vhs videos until the DVD anniversary put it in.
Someone has probably already said this but, those 2 scenes were always in the chinese versions of the film, from the very beginning. Only Interational versions had the scenes taken out.
the estate is soo nitpicky. 25 years and they promote this as "deleted snd rare". it was in the chinese vhs version from the 1980s and 1990s. if they wanted to show the fans some rare and deleted footage - most Bruce fans caould give them a list.
this release was another way to milk the image of bruce Lee for every dollar.
In the original release, that scene wasn't in the movie. There's a few scenes actually, including this one, that was never really seen until a 25th Anniversary Edition was put out on VHS in '98. -viCiouS-
Correct. My understanding to why those scenes were originally deleted was due to the philosophical aspects of them, and producers felt the western audience wouldn't understand it. To be honest, I wouldn't have understood either if it wasn't for my martial arts training, which fortunately included such philosophical aspects. It was quite an eye-opener for me.

Well, many were back then. But it I wager that it had more to do with America's perception of Bruce being the bad ass fighter and not being viewed as a pupil that was learning and evolving.
At 12 sec, the scar on his face looks like a symbol - you can't see it here, but on the DVD you can. I remember that the original release didn't have that small detail.
They deleted this philosophical scene on the original US theatrical premiere on 1973. Are you talking about the 1973 print?, or the re-release because pretty much every modern print would have this scene and also the monk scene. These scenes were originally taken out because Warner bros. didn't want the movie to seem too philisophical as they needed the film to be a success seeing as they thought they were taking a huge risk with a Chinese lead

@chrisssjkd What's really aggravating and sad is that even when they were making this movie, the dumb ass producers were still worried about having a Chinese lead in Bruce Lee.. Made me sick to my fucking stomach... Bruce Deserves better back then when he was alive...
it was used in the dvd version but when it first came out in cinemas these scenes weren't included, my dad recorded the original version from like the 70s or sumthin when it was showed on tv and it didnt have any of the scenes with that monk dressed in orange or the voices in the mirror room.
