whoops I left out The Brand New Heavies (album Brother Sister) and Incognito (there are so many albums it's hard to just pick one). Try them all. These are acid jazz.
Emiliano Torrini - Love in the time of Science (trip hop)
I'm really starting to like this acid jazz...Soulstice and Kyoto Jazz Massive..two of the first bands that I've listened to in this genre and, so far, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
@AleekahTV These are some acid jazz/ trip hop artists/albums that I enjoy:
1. Esthero - Breathe From Another
2. D'Nell - 1st Magic
3. Jamiroquai (more acid jazz than trip hop)- all albums but preferably the 1st three - Emergency on Planet Earth, Return of the Space Cowboy and Traveling without Moving.
Ive been listening to alot of underground hip hop, rock, indie, techno, reggae and ska.. this acid jazz is totally new to me, i like it very much so far..
anyone here got any reccomendations? pref. some unique undergriund / non mainstream pop shiet ;)
does this genre of music have any kind of history? if so, what
Any great acid jazz I'D recommend is anything by Atjazz, Jazzzonova, Ronnie Jordan, Incognito and Jamiroquai. I hope I helped (: enjoy as much as I do.
@dasdafoij - Acid jazz goes back to the late 80s/early 90s. Back then it had more of a retro-1970s funk sound (which you can still hear bits of in this song with the wah-wah in the electric guitar) but often with a more modern dance beat. The best examples of early acid jazz would be The Brand New Heavies Self-titled and "Brother Sister" albums and the first two Jamiroquai (before they became a discodouche band) "Emergency on Planet Earth" and "Return of the Space Cowboy." @dasdafoij If you are diggin' alot of this Acid Jazz stuff check out my youtube channell under the username jhetta22 I have a playlist called Acid Jazz there with some really cool selected tracks of various sub genres of Acid Jazz on it. As far as the origins It started in London between the late 80's - 90's as a DJ form of music combining electro/hip-hop/jazz
Heard this (Group/Band?)off a Shoutcast station. This particular song actually... its absolutely amazing. Production, songwriting and the vibe of it, its just beautiful.
I have been waiting to listen to you guys play for ten years. Peace and blessings to you my friends

This album was on constant rotation for me when it first came out. It still holds up to stuff played today. Way ahead of its time.

Dasdafoij,
Check out 45 dip or Mark Farina. Mark is pretty much the foundation of this type of music. He mixes swing / hiphop / acid Jazz, you name it.
Check out one of his CD's, Fabric 40, if you can.
The major label for lounge music like this is OM Records.
