  • this is why im going natural...braid my hair if i have to, i will not get another perm

  • wow bless her .. asof this yr i stop wearin them...i did the big chop to start over

  • Why is it called RELAXERS if I doesnt relax at all and burns like the devil?!?!?!?!?!?

  • bt dont let it stop u,put a wig if u had to jst go out ur beautiful dont let ths mistake ruin ur life

  • They must of used a super lye relaxer on her delicate hair... ); You couldn't pay me to go to a salon ever again!!I will always embrace my beautiful naps!

  • Perm is uglier than straightened natural hair. Just saying, the cuticle is gone from permed hair which leaves it dull. Natural hair has it's cuticle which makes it shinier, naturally.

  • i haven't had a perm since march 2011. Got my hair straightened, hair is down my back and healthy. NO MORE PERM, SHOW YOUR NATURAL HAIR!!!!!!!

  • so what exactly is good hair..becase i thinkmy hair is good and it's course texture.

  • So sad but all perms don't do that. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS DO A STRAND TEST FIRST..! I CAN'T STRESS THAT ENOUGH..!

  • omgggggg no more relaxerssss ever!

  • omgosh....i am soo sorry to see this.

  • That's a shame because we all want to feel beautiful. But we are conditioned by society to feel as if natural hair is ugly. I have just went natural and am on a journey to not only grow my hair but love who I am as well.

  • She already had "good," hair. Straight =/= good. Just ask some of us non black women with limp straight hair, we'd kill for afro-like curls. But it's hard to feel sorry for her when there are a million ways to get your hair straight without a perm. Plus there are tons of models with big afros, you can't blame the industry. Perms are ugly and make your hair look ridiculous, broken, brittle, stiff. Not a model-like look at all.

  • This is sad, and this is why people need to understand that perms are not for everyone. I've been getting perms for years now, and my hair is perfectly fine. I think its because my hair is really thick, and I use light perms. Plus, i only perm my new growth, not my whole hair. I can wear it in different styles; crimped, curly, straight etc... Though I do believe that if you want to get a perm, make sure you know it suits you. I like my natural African- American hair then, and I like it now.

  • STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM SALONS AND DONT TRUST PEOPLE SAYING STUFF AND SELLING STUFF

  • shhhieet man.. thank God im natural

  • i dont understand. my mom raised me and relaxed my hair every two months. my hair never fell out and ive yet to mert another woman with natural hair. could someone please enlighten me on the pros and cons of both issues?

  • having perms and relaxers are ugly....Natural hair is very pretty because you were born like that

  • O.O

  • wow, the name of that song is made with flaxen hair

  • Thanks for the courage to tell your story.I plan to never go back to the relaxer again.

  • Xxmoonlight I'm natural and my hair is not hard or dry. That is an uneducated response. I'm also a stylist and I do both relaxed and natural hair. We can do the same thing you do to your hair only difference is ours has not chemical. Also yes our hair will revert back but its full of life when straight instead of just laying there on our head. With out the help of rollers

  • omg! That was the last straw for me. NO MORE CHEMICALS FOR ME! That is horrible

  • everybody does not have the time, the patience, or the funds for natural hair. i was relaxed for 19 years and my hair was long and healthy. im completely natural now, but it was only because i couldnt afford relaxers anymore. i keep a kinky curly weave in my hair now but even when my natural hair is out i still think about relaxing it. i have 4b hair and it is VERY time consuming and PAINFUL (im tenderheaded) to style it. i understand why some women relax. natural hair is not for everybody.

  • I dont get this holier than thou attitude that naturals have. I am relaxed, love my hair being relaxed. Never had a chemical burn. I also have never suffered from hair breakage. All of the above can be prevented if you know how to take care of your hair properly after it being relaxed. No One is trying to be white. Natural hair is hard to manage even when flat ironed it will revert back if its too humid or if it gets wet and is always hard and bone dry. Oh and you cant do much with it anyway

  • @xxmoonliight "I don't get this holier than thou attitude that naturals have" you just generalized a group of people by their hair. You love your hair being relaxed good for you. Natural hair is hard to manage when you don't know what you're doing, the only way your hair would be absolutely HARD and BONE DRY would be if you're treating it like chemically treated hair or don't know what you're doing, that's ridiculous. Btw natural hair is very versatile. That was really ignorant -.-

  • @xxmoonliight Same here.

  • no matter how much we beg we cannot talk to black women about their permed hair it is only up to them to get that perm out of their natural hair and hope it is not too late. congratulation to those who remove the crap out and makes alot of us blackmen happy and proud i hope u sisters remove the religious curse they put on black people.

  • why get relaxer when u can have healthy kinks coils and curls u know the kind that look soo adorable on little black babies and when u want u can whip out your flat iron and go for a relaxed look its time to stop trying to look like white women and except that god created us in his image so glad im 17 months relaxer free and three weeks natural and loving it my hair is fuller and it shines by its self with no products

  • May God bless her.

  • Healthy hair is good hair. I'm going to rock my healthy curly hair and avoid this. I feel so horrible that this happened, I almost cried. So glad i'm transitioning...

  • I think the hair dresser did it on purpose. There is no way you can do that to someones hair by accident! She left it on for like 2 hours!

  • @Twwistad i wouldnt sit for 2hrs to get my hair straighten out either ways. i do ma own hair n it only takes 10-15 mins. mi sori fi har doe!

  • @Twwistad or used a really really old relaxer in the woman's head. didn't use any type of protection in the woman's hair and left it one for a really long time. this is terrible but could it be the hair dresser put something else in the relaxer to cause it to be this sever?

  • jealous hairdresser much???

  • This is really sad, i'm so glad i've been transitioning to natural hair for almost 11 months now. this video scared me and is sooo SAD. if that happened 2 me, i would go HAM AND LOSE MY MIND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! pardon my language, but that is awful. REGARDLESS of the fact that her hair got burned, she is BEAUTIFUL! and it takes a true woman that's been through all that to still take off her wig and document her story. I wish that woman all the best.

  • How heartbreaking. I definitely teared up. Bu for the grace of God this could have been me. I finally embraced my natural hair about five months ago after a lifetime of relaxers and heat abuse. I feel grateful for eventually stopping the madness. My heart goes out to this amazingly strong a beautiful woman. This only strengthens my resolve to set my natural curls free...forever. Thank you so much for sharing. God bless you Isabella.

  • that is so sad:(

  • OMG! so touching, so sad. God Bless her!

  • I never got my hair dyed it or anything and im a hair and facial modle

  • OF COURSE SH*T CAN GO WRONG- relaxers are chemicals-- manufacturers know this ...i.e. the directions that tell you --test the product on a small area (inconspicuous area)-- meh, as far as NATURAL hair, if it's still growing out of your damn scalp IT'S NATURAL....ijs. Ive been doing relaxers for years, and havent had split ends or damaged hair(--that is until i let other ppl do my hair o_0.) because I always follow the directions o_0--

  • poor thing..it looks like someone mixed corrosive acid with the relaxer..even the melanin on her scalp is gone

  • This is really really sad! Was there more going on to this story? What type of perm/relaxer was it? I know everyone takes to treatment (chemicals) differently. Was the stylist jealous of this (model) young lady? I may be wrong but I never seen anything this severe. Sorry just my 2 cents. I'm just curious...please forgive me.

    Take care...

  • OMG! I JUST DID THE BIG CHOP...IM NEVER GOING BACK TO PERMS IM (LOCKIN)

  • i am so happy that i stopped perming my hair about 2 years ago..black women dont really need any perms...go natural and when u're ready to have straight hair flat iron the bitch..

  • damn this is really sad! Thank God I'm going natural.

  • I got a chemica burn from a "professional" in a salon.

  • this is what happens when you go to a salon and the person that is doing ur hair is envious and jelouse of u ..one time i went to a hair salon with my aunt i paid for me and her to get out hair done she charged us 100.00 each so i paid i went the following year again but this time i couldnt afford to pay for my aunt but she came with me ...i explained this to her she was fine shes my aunt anyways the broad took longer to do my hair and charges me 200.00 ..whores that they are some not all.

  • Wow!

  • Very sad glad I stopped if I didn't lawl I would of had the same reaction talk about years of counseling and treatment for some gawd damn 10 box of perm horrible

  • Im full puerto rican and my hairs so thick and curly its like african american hair. I do get relaxers i cant anymore. Ive gotten burned twice and lost hair in the middle of my head... The hairs r now very thin and r still growing back. Relaxers can help you manage your hair its just the person whos puting it in your hair too . You have to be careful and aware and only do these treatments once ina while . Going natural is way healthier and who cares what it looks like. Straight or not straight

  • This was a devastating video, it was def the music that made it emotional. And what is a phototoxic reaction exactly? I understand her sharing her story but honestly i can't stand the aggressive anti-relaxer movement that naturals force on black women its a little too much I get the revelation/personal reasons to go natural but how u wear ur hair is a preference thing! I would like to hear more about this experience but relaxers can't be that bad other words EVERYONEs head would look like this!

  • this made me cry no joke

  • Relaxers don't damage hair.Lack of maintenance and lack of professional care causes damage.I'm relaxed ,was natural 19yrs,I'm still proud to be black.Hispanics and others wear their hair straight as well ,its just a preference.

  • @maressa21ful, The thing is though they were taught to hate what their naturally born with especially the texture of their hair.

    Sigh, damn you colonization

  • @Hikaru2g ,my hair is relaxed.I was natural 19years.lol.Everyone should realize hair is a woman's glory, whether she chooses to wear it relaxed or natural does not determine her pride in being black. African Americans have suffered enough prejudices, lets not create another one amongst ourselves.

  • @maressa21ful, That I understand as long there's not resentment to your roots. The truth is how it all started was colonization taught to hate not only African/African Descents to hate themselves the same went with Asians, Latinos, and Native Americans. There's a pattern

  • Oh wow just to say I'm shocked and really just out of words perms are not good if u keep applying it too many but natural is beautiful god made us diffrent regardless of agenda race...etc I'm. A high lightbright and can show my face anywhere this don't mean I will criticize others of diffrent we just need to stop and say God love us all no matter who we are try some Jesus it works

  • This story seems quite made up.

  • @babyballongurl2_ youd die if u said dat bs in ny hood!

  • Oh my goodness? Lord have mercy. Smh. This makes me sad.

  • This is so sad! Once, I left a stylist with a bleeding scalp. In the scary curl days. I had my last chemical straightener at 15 years old. There are other ways to get straight hair. This video has me "scared Nappy!"

  • Agree with natrl challenge!

  • @chunmorris91 Totally agree

  • The problem starts when relaxers are not done properly. I relaxed for years and had no problem. This video is a scare tactic. Even the relaxer recommends doing a strand test to test allergic reactions like this woman's. I am now natural, but videos like this just put blame on relaxers and not the lack of knowledge of the person applying it.

  • Natural for life!

  • MY HEART AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THIS LADY NO ONE DESERVES THIS.. NO MATTER WHAT THEY DECIDED TO DO YOU CAN'T PUT YOUR TRUST IN PEOPLE OR CHEMICALS TO MAKE YOU BEAUTIFUL .... IT COMES FROM WITHIN VERY TROUBLING...

  • Woa. This is totally tragic. I'm 21 and all my life like many other young girls permed to feel accepted, but never satisfied. I always felt something was not right and hair should not be so difficult to handle. Hair is said to be the pride of many, but I realized I am not my hair and I am not this skin - India Arie. Took a few years for the words to that song to hit me. Perms are just a pain like stress is to the body.I am natural and accept who I am..because I am the soul that lives within!

  • So SAD

  • So SAD

  • Do not use relaxers to fuel a society where only straight hair is acceptable. It's a poison to the person's health and to everyone around them.

  • Why can't she model with a wig on??? Most models do that today anyways.

  • the reason why so many black women have problems with relaxers is because they are not applied properly. i see too many people applying relaxers directly to the scalp. i saw one woman using a hard brush one time to straighten the relaxer and her client winded up having scabs all over her scalp. i have even see some not using neutralizing shampoo after applying relaxer.

  • Anyone else felt like breaking down or tearing up a little bit? the video was kinda devastating to me.

  • @GloriousMissy Yes me too but I aint going nature yet

  • @GloriousMissy I thought it was kinda funny, quite ironic!

  • thank god i am a natural black empress.... stil this is so sad

  • @solarlolax yea she did because they didn't know what they were doing. I hear she sued the relaxer company then the lady when the lady didn't read the box or let her know she didn't know how to do relaxers. I also heard the lady didn't put the activator in it she just put it on there.....smh dum! I bet she was wondering what's the extra bottle for lol

  • @TiffanyMarmalade how far along in your transition are u?

  • I have had relaxers for a long time it's sad but it doesn't scare me. I just think the technique as wrong and she trusted someone else putting it in her head then herself. I am transitioning to natural because I don't want to continue getting relaxers. And I love the Afro look. Idk it's cute to me. But not hating on the relaxers or the natural. I don't wear we've. Can't stand it, but if it prevents me from doing my hair 1 day ima wear it, that doesn't mean I gotta like it.

  • I will be doing a video called' Black Women's Hair In The Earthy Kingdom of God'.

It will be the talk of all the black women hair forums worldwide!

80% of bw proffess christianity yet very few have ever entertained the idea of God being concerned with their hair. God made us just the way He wanted us. There is no shame whatsoever in wearing natural hair, eating natural food and black women loving their natural selves! sub to be notified. AMEN

  • OH MY!

  • Ive been relaxing since 12 and will continue. im not scared straight. the dresser should have done a strand test and she should have done her homework on the dresser and proper care and application of a relaxer. its not about getting a relaxer but proper care and application of it... ps about to cut my hair that is in the middle of my back to a midium length. Hair can get long with a relaxer. I agree with Sexyhersheyzchocolat

  • I think I felt a tear....... );

  • scared me too death never getting a relaxer again, i know you can get one and have long healthy hair i have seen it but in a lot of cases it burns you and and that last burn can cost you.

  • I've been relaxer free since October. One of the best decisions I've ever made.

  • That is a horrible thing that that person has done to you. Keep your head up and continue with your life. You are still beautiful.

  • STOP THE INSECURITIES WOMEN! This is a prime example of the horrors of chemicals to our hair and scalp. Maybe a change will come when there is evidence of brain damage from these relaxers. Don't think it's not possible. Educate yourself people. The chemist that put together these contraptions wouldn't dare suggest relaxers to their love ones.

  • wow pplthe issue here was not the relaxer...it was the technique & ignorance of how to properly apply & take care of relaxed hair. Thats why I self relax & my hair is healthy & past my shoulders. Longer & healthier than my friend who has been natural her whole life & that is because she doesnt know how to properly take care of her natural either So ppl can look at her hair and not want to be natural. natural or relaxed your hair can still be unhealthy. Its not about texture but about education.

  • @Sexyhersheyzchocolat I'm natural and I agree with what you said wholeheartedly!

  • HORRIBLLLLE!! I've been relaxer free for 18 months and will never ever use a relaxer again! Such a sad story :-(

  • OMG...this is horrible

  • :( There needs to be more people teaching others how to take care of their hair without putting harmful chemicals in it. There is a better way to making sure your hair will grow and be healthy.

  • This is why I'm happy to be natural. I can flat iron if I want a straight look. Either that or wig it.

  • @TheKeKe313 If you were that proud you would want to show everyone your African American afro hair. But instead you make it look like a White girls hair. I do think relaxed hair looks nice, I'm just saying you cant be they proud.

  • The choices we make!!!! I'd rather be nappy headed with a little hair than have scalp burns, sores, etc and bald. What is this image that the world is selling? In order to be beautiful, one must be light skinned or white, with long straight blonde hair. I think not. God create me not according to those specs. HE said it is good!!!! Embrace your natural beauty.

  • @TeaDennis Too true

  • I just think that "RELAXERS" should be put in correctly, there's a technique for doing it which "Cathy Howse" addresses in her book " Thinning Edges", I've read that a couple of times.. It is sad that people would damp relaxers on the scalp and not use any scalp protectors...I only relax my hair cause i want to be able to manage it...Tx..

  • THIS VIDEO IS STRAIGHT UP SCARY!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NorwegianMuslimGirl perms doesnt mean self-hate. learn more about the topic before you judge. im relaxed and im proud of being an african american woman.

  • @MsCorrupt1 longhairdontcare isnt relaxed

  • @unadultr8dgenius HALLELUJAH! SPEAK IT! Atleast ur smart about this. thank you.

  • Okay sad...didn't look like her hair needed perm in the first place. Her fault.

Where my motion relaxer at? :D

  • This video made me cry :[

  • Comment removed

  • The funniest thing is the same ppl commenting on this video about loving their natural hair are the same ones who fill up the hair stores looking for their 18" remy. Shut up.

  • Wait what? Perms/relaxers aren't even supposed to touch the scalp. Only the roots of the hair.

  • Omg if this video doesn't make you never ever get a perm again i don't know what will this is so sad who ever did her hair should be in jail lol im dead serious!

  • Thanks for sharing your courage and strength!!!

I will let as many women know, so your story could guide them in the right direction.

If you ever want to talk, I'm here. Just PM me.

    God bless you my dear.

  • I feel her pain and shame. This happen to me but not as severely, I did the big chop. I have been natural for two years now and I have hair down my back. Please stay away from perms.

  • she probably went to a white salon

  • @solarlolax ....I was wondering about that also because I read that she was or did sue L'Oreal.

  • This could have been my story. I used to have a severely dry scalp when I was relaxing but after going natural, I don't have any dandruff or problems with dry scalp.

  • this is why i'm transitioning. mmm mmm this shit is too sad

  • ok. I was going to say "What the heck is up with the sad music. It's not like she died." Then I saw the pictures, and felt like crying. I'd sue that hair stylist, then her family, then her Ancestors, till i get tired. This stuff could have killed this lady.

  • @hyacinthdibley LOL i agree

  • It's irony. The piece is called Maid with the Flaxen hair...

  • dang what the eff the stylist do? go to sleep? never seen nothing like this before.

  • This is grossen me out:|

  • @omgg60 skinned potato

  • SKINNED POTATO!!!!!

  • She is still beautiful in spite of everything! She should've been able to pursue her career and just wore a wig! Who would know the difference? So many models already wear wigs, weaves, extensions, braids etc....

Truly admired her courage and journey to prevent other women from making the same mistake

  • How awful :(

  • this is y i've gone natural 4 d past 5 months now...

  • SHE IS A BEAUT WITH OR WITHOUT HER HAIR

  • so sad :(

  • That is horrific. I still think that she is beautiful.

  • wow

  • thts y i only relax my hair like 2-4x a yr.not gonna be doin it much no moooore....

  • I've never had long hair, and I was NEVER able to get the hang of the relaxer...so going natural was the last resort for me,and I've never had more hair in my life....I still have lasting adverse effects from relaxer and tight braids, but I'm thankful for the hair I do have, because it could always be much much worse. Thanks so much for sharing.

  • THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BLACK WOMAN LET WHITE PEOPLE APPLY CHEMICALS/RELAXERS TO THEIR BLACK/ETHNIC HAIR. I PUT MONEY ON IT THAT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TRYING TO BREAK INTO THE MODELING INDUSTRY. THERE ARE PLENTY OF US BLACK WOMEN WITH 16 TO 20 INCHES OR MORE OF RELAXED HAIR. CHECK OUT buildablebeauty, fgrogan, longhairdontcare and shima on youtube. You will be amazed at how these sisters have ridiculously long hair some white women WISH they had. My hair is 16inch long right now and growing

  • THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A BLACK WOMAN LET WHITE PEOPLE APPLY CHEMICALS/RELAXERS TO THEIR HAIR. I PUT MONEY ON IT THAT THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED TRYING TO BREAK INTO THE MODELING INDUSTRY.

  • straight hair is all she wanted!! lol this video was real serious...i understand the point intended but i wish people would embrace themselves and stop trying to be what they are no...get a press and comb and wear it straight for a lil while but dont jeopardize the integrity of you

  • I've never seen damage that bad? How on earth did that happen?? This just break my heart...I know what it feels like to just want straight hair. Especially being that I am a latina...out of my two sisters who have indian straight hair....dead straight, mine came out very ethnic..afro. I have been getting relaxers since I was five. It's time to take this information to the latin community!

  • To all the ladies that hate brothers dating white women. GET OVER IT AND MOVE ON. I only date my sisters but the same can be said about a sister dating a white guy. some sisters dont even want to concidered black and the same can be said about some black men. they are the way they are for whatever reason. just stay true to yourself in this chaotic world we live in. Our priorities are all screwed up and how and who a person dates is not my concern.

  • this was about to make me cry and i know the pain she feels smh :(( i glad i am natural

  • That why I stopped getting a perm ...cuz I was almost bald ...my hair is still short but its growing better nd healthy. ! Now I got a twa nd love it:)

  • This is heart-breaking! I decided to go natural two months ago, and I'm so happy that I did! Doing research on relaxers and other chemicals that severely damage our hair encouraged me to stay away from the realaxers! I see so many black women with damaged relaxed hair, and they have no idea that they can have healthy hair if they would just say NO to relaxers!

  • omg hats sad.... hmm stiking to natural hair...

  • Im sorry to hear this. Im gonna stop bitchin about my hair breakage and be thankful for what I got.

  • Now that Im natural i notice so much! I c women with such thin permed hair thats barely holding on.It looks so unhealthy & damaged yet they dont seem 2 care or notice. How does thin hair look good?SOME women r fortunate that their hair seems 2 sustain the breaking down of the hair bond&their hair LOOKS healthy. But so many women r BARELY hanging on 2 length & have so little density...u c thru the sad strands 2 their scalp!WHY is our beauty based on someone else?Nothing is wrong with our own hair!

  • This is really silly I never in my life heard of pure olive oil taking someone hair out unless the stuff was laced wit some toxic chemical and btw I hear people say this model hair was taken out by some jealous person please explain

  • :( this is so sad. and to think i was just complaining about my hair. her's will never grow back because of that silly relaxer :// she's still a beautiful women . i hate that she lost her modeling career.

  • This is why I'm natural. No perm!! ..5yrs and counting!! :)

  • @MzRoyalVi well guess what i never had one in my life

  • This is really sad. It is ashamed how women can do cruel things out of spite and envy. No matter what, she is still a beautiful woman and I hope all her dreams still come true.

  • I just wanted to breakout and cry for her...I pray that God Almighty work a miracle in her life and all those who have been a victim of perms...All in All you are still beautiful...May the Lord bless and keep you in perfect peace...

  • black people should learn how to love their nappy hair, god dammit! -.-''

    Self hatred is just horrible!!

  • Let's see, a story?

When my mommy lived in between Haiti &Dominican Republic, HER Mami had thick hair past her shoulders! Exciting, right? Well, her bald, jealous neighbor said, "You should put extra virgin olive oil! It makes your hair healthier, longer, and stronger!" (the ones back in the days were bad, I guess. Te olive oils now is better??) so grandma got a big bottle of olive oil, and put it in her hair every night, put it in a bun, and would leave it A's a leave in. Her hair broke like

  • @cutiepie2404

U gotta be very careful with the jealous ones. My cousin was like that, did a horrible relaxer on me & broke of all my hair-never appoligized for it and in fact said that it was "Thanks to God that my hair fell out," well by the GRACE OF GOD, it grew back but it's 2 inches shorter then where it was orginally and the hair that grew back is alot rougher and harder for me to manage, it gets matted by the slightest wrong move.

  • @cutiepie2404

Jealousy is no lame joke-always keep a look out for it.
