  • I suspect there is genetics involved as well. People in my family seem to live a lot longer than average, even back a few hundred years ago. We have birth and death records going back to the early 1600s average age at death seems to be 95-103 even back then, and its just the ones descended from my paternial grandmothers relatives. There must be a gene on the x chromosone that regulates aging.

  • Running doesnt make you live longer. Exercise makes you live longer. My great grandmother was 106 she was born in the 1880s she never ran but was very active and was working until she died and was functional she died of a heat stroke while mowing her lawn at 106 years age. The reason life expetancy has increased is because we treat chronic conditions with medications things brought on by being seditary.

  • a fundamentally flawed study. a typical runner is the type of person who probably also eats better and and is very concerned for their health... im not saying the study is wrong cuz im sure its true but theres no scientific validity to any of this bc the control group has too many unlike variables.

  • I completely agree, although we can probably conclude that despite these variables which are unaccounted for, people that take regular exercise do live longer.
