  • Howdy. Glad you liked the film. Yes, you're quite right - that is a mandolin in the film, not a lute. It was several hundred pounds cheaper! Thanks for your comments. Keep your tights high and your feathers fluffy. Spread the love.

    Pete

  • As a Bard here in the states, I think we are a misunderstood party. It's more than a tunic and a few rhymes. You have got to have the soul. You have got to be merry. Half the people who say "Do something with your life" don't know a Lute from a Mandolin. At least I'm not playing HALO for Christ's sake.

  • It's called "Helas Madame" and is available on Cantoris Records (although I put the thumping bassline on myself!)

  • Wankers! LOL

  • So good, just so good!

  • Thanks 014157613.

Glad you liked it. Spread the word!

    All the best

  • ha!ha! Medieval rappaz. with outraged conservatives condemning furiously and wishy-washy liberals desperate to "relate" Plenty of modern cliches, gritty observational documentary hippies, etc

  • Amazing. XD I love this so much. "Just say Hey Nonny NO!"

  • Our A Level Music Teacher Showed Us This Todayy So We Could Learn About The Type Of Music Minstrels Play

    It Was Amazing!!!Comedy Gold!! lol

    Made my day =P

  • We just watched this in my music history class...hilarious!

  • Well met! My god I'm a rennie but am I this bad? lol

  • "Just Say Hey Nonny Nonny NO!" Thats going to be my new MSN tagline from now on. Genius XD

  • Just found you and laughed my socks off! Look forward to the Rickmansworth song.

  • absolutely fabulous comedy moment. Vital viewing for any -early- musician. Well done Pete!

  • The woman doing the voiceover is the magic ingredient - she was a perfect find. She sounds exactly like the typical UK documentary voiceover person.

  • Hey was some of this shot in Reading and Coley. oh yea Nice vid.

  • @1987simple . Yes, shot in Reading town centre most of it, much to the bewilderment of the townsfolk.

  • thats a round back mandolin

  • Well spotted. It was considerably cheaper and more practical than a lute!

  • My music history professor played this at the end of last semester before we took our early music final. It was awesome.

  • Thanks RockMeAmadeus1756.

I can't think of a more flattering screening than that.

Please pass on my regards to your music history professor!

  • Genius.

  • Would that this 'social problem" were more widespread! Kudos ;)

  • I agree. In America, we have people who can dress like cowboys (except for the chaps) and even sing country music (folk country, the most). I like some country, but I like Renaissance Festival/Faire music more.

  • Bloody hell I thought that was real at first.

  • very very funny!!!!!!!

how did you make the movie? it looks so profi!

  • Thanks creativitycorner.

We made it one hot weekend in Reading, Berks, with a small home video camera, and edited it over a couple of weeks with iMovie.

  • LOL @ "Get Your Lute!"

  • Brilliant. Delivered with all the serious tone of a documentary on goth kids, punk rock kids, alt-rock kids, etc. The woman who does the voiceover has the perfect tone about the whole thing. Wonderful.

  • Absolutely priceless. The best laugh I've had in ages.

  • Hey, some of my best friends are minstrels...

  • That was dandy.

  • I know all about the need to dress up and play the lute in public. Sometimes I have the overwhelming urge to do it and sometimes I don't. I guess you could say I have a minstrel cycle, but it is irregular.

  • That is brilliant. Cheers.

  • "they did not make it clear!"

    *dies*

thank you for alerting the public of the growing minstrel problem.

  • Very funny

  • i too am a minstrel

  • LOL

  • This video rules.
