Thanks for the memories! In 76 I went from Yosemite over on much of the JMT, peeling off at Thousand Island over to Lakes Ediza and Minarets, then out to the Devils Postpile. Drove to Whitney portal and RAN up Whitney. After two weeks at high altitude, Whitney wasn't bad at all. In 77, went from Whitney, through Forester/Pinchot into Rae Lakes and back to Kings Canyon. Good times, good memories.
This is GREAT! made me think back to my first solo sierra high route, sort of . . . and of course the JMT . . . think I gotta get out there again this summer. THANKS for the inspiration.
Man I wish I made that hike back in the day but at least there's this. Thanks for the post. Gorgeous - so great someone thought about toting a camera along, back then a good one probably weighed a lot!
I appreciate your posting this video because I love the Sierra's and I can't imagine how cool it must have been to hike the Muir trail back then, although it's still probably America's greatest hike!
You're welcome. Have you done the trail? From your user name at first I thought you were one of the 1975 hikers. If you haven't, never too late! Or at least the approach to Whitney!

I love that this is way back then... I was ONE year old! Seems so much more pure than today. Thanks for sharing.
