CompizFusion (used to be Beryl) is for use on Linuz systems and has a very low overhead as far as disk space and ram is concerned. CompizFusion does much more than this too!

It's Beryl, now called CompizFusion, Google 'CompizFusion Linux' and find out all about it. Deskspace is great, and for proprietary software, it is offered at a great price, but it is not as functional as CompizFusion.

I sort of agree... and I am a designer. The issue that I have is that you only have one "screen" available at at time. If you're looking at a cube, you can only "look" at one side at a time, [functionally]. the ONLY solution is MORE SCREENS. The best option that I've seen is upwards of 6 screens and three CPU's networked. [ridiculous, I know]

it's pretty cool, but like what waaterdog said it's not very practical. I find that something like VirtueDesktops, where you hold a key and press an arrow button in certain directions to switch screens, is more practical and easier to use.

Yes, exactly Zoo- I saw a Linux OS coded with a "ctrl-shift" option that was much more functional, intuitive and faster than windows "alt-tab" switching. I liked that the best... along with about 3 parallel CPUs and 6 large screens! Alas, the IT nazis where I work would never allow such productive workstations! :-)

Obviously it's used to look at porn while watching Borat while at work so that when your boss bursts in on you at work you can hide it quickly. Duh! ;)

But seriously the reason for program is to manage your desktop more efficiently if you have way too many things open at the same time.

OSX has a similar thing to this with no 3d but I believe that the 3d desktop manager originated from inspired (bored) Linux programmers.
