Yo 'Crisp', wrd2tehwise: STFU. Whatever you do DON'T COME HERE! It's the most depressingly god-awful shithole of a non-place. Freezing, constantly drizzling, v. little to do, and now full to bursting with middle-manager Nathan Barley c***s. Spend 3 weeks over Xmas here on yer own w/ a can of beans and you'll top yerself - no lie. (/Blandcaster) Uni = a meat-processing factory run by ex-screws (tutors), crapping out profoundly useless people w/ terminally boring 'skills' yet little Life or Soul..
Stop making videos! you've managed to make an awesome, vibrant, crazy and thrilling university sound like a grim institution! over 17000 students and you only found these guys?????
@jamiequinlan I had a great three years there, though south west campus can be a bit quiet so choose a college close to the spine! The city is great fun at night and although it has its flaws the uni ranks very well against rivals in the region. Would you really rather go to UCLAN or UCUM? come on! go to Lancaster :D
@Crisp1987 UCLAN or UCUM? Not sure what they are, but I would rather go to lancaster than leicester (my insurance).. Out of interest, what are its 'flaws' that you mentioned?
@jamiequinlan UCLAN is the university of central lancashire based mainly in Preston, UCUM is university of cumbria, they are generally known as second best to Lancaster. And yes Lancaster is much safer than Leicester: Lancaster campus was ranked safest in the UK, with the biggest dangers are ducks crossing the road! Lancaster's flaws are very few, the politics department has had a serious funding cut though its lecturers are still world class. The colleges are social rather than academic...
@jamiequinlan because of the college's focus on social life it means you as the student have to make that little extra effort to stay in touch with the academic departments, but it means you'll meet people outside your studies and have a fantastic time with new friends from day one, I am still very good friends with the people I met on my first day (4 years ago!). inter-college sports competitions and the yearly war of the roses against York make Lancaster as VERY special uni, I would go back
Ouch, this video makes the place look grim. As a student returning for my 2nd year in 2 weeks time I can assure you that Lancaster is an amazing place to be. Note to the author - only interviewing foreign students who seem to be a bit shaky with their English is NOT a good way to show off a university.
I found it incredible, it really depends upon where you're living and what you do there though. For example if you live on campus in a residence with around 40 people on the same floor like I did you're going to make a lot of good friends very easily and there will always be people to hang out with. Everyone I met in Lancaster seemed really friendly, there's plenty of societies to get in to, and the night life is awesome for students. The great friendships I made here sealed the deal. :)
ah cheers, right now im thinking my 5 uni choices will be (in no particular order) lancaster, loughborough, UEA, Leicster and kent as insurance choice. I was worried a bit over the social life at lancaster as its in the middle of no where (or so it seems)
No worries, yeah the campus is out of the way a little bit but its got its own bus stops and very regular buses so its very easy to get to town. The town itself is pretty small but students make up a large portion of its population, which means we're well catered for :)
sounds good. I went to the open day of leicester on saturday, seemed like a good place, but the students seemed like the most boring bunch of people I have ever seen! (not to be rude). They had a viking club for christs sake!
WOW...You really made Lancaster Uni look like the dullest place on the planet. I just graduated after 3 years here and I actually enjoyed it. Prospective students this video encapsulates the opposite of everything LU is to hundreds of thousands of people.
LU is one of those universities that let's you easily obtain a 2:2 with little work and plenty of "fun". People who are actually interested in learning and obtaining good results should apply elsewhere.
if you like alcohol and don't like peace and quiet / ability to study, oh yeah and don't want to work to pass, this is the university for you! for those who don't like booming music, drunks singing at all hours, take an interest in the subject, this is definitely not the university for you - it will make you suicidal
Lancaster Uni. is far more awesome than what you can see and heard from this video!! nuf said.
