A great way to avoid urinary tract / bladder infections is to drink a lot of GOOD WATER throughout the day. Also, one should limit the eating of dense type meats(beef, poultry, and pork etc.) to about once a week or even once every two weeks. If you work in a physically demanding job or work-out , drinking GOOD WATER is all the more important along with eating less dense meat.
GOOD WATER: From an unpolluted source or filtered plus mineralized. Avoid municipally treated water.
@desertprepper1 Juniper is thought to help dissolve kidney stones. The herbs hydrangea and marshmallow (the herb not the candy) will get rid of them. Hydrangea dissolves them and the marshmallow lubricates the tract making them easier to pass.
Survival Doc, How do I identify the Juniper tree and is it prevalent in the North East of the USA? I live in New Jersey and visit Pennsylvania frequently, but do not recall seeing Juniper. Maybe I am not looking hard enough. Thanks for the info in advance...R. Dixon
Hey Doc, as a nurse I have learned that many times the same antibiotic is given for both URI or UTI, any thoughts or information of how juiper berries affect the repiratory tract. Thanks for the info,Keep it comming.
@navvet81 I don't have any information on that but Juniper is not an antibiotic. I haven't done extensive research on the studies but I just remembered one - it has been shown in the lab to kill herpes 1 & 2 virus. Herbs generally work via different mechanisms. Get out of the medical model. But some herbs do have antibiotic effects, including garlic. Garlic, echinacea, golden seal, and especially Elderberry, I'm sure, would have much better effects on the respiratory tract than juniper.
We have found Lavender Oil can do the same when applied topically. I wonder if you can make some kind of topical application and use Juniper for other things. I know our Lavender Oil also takes care of sinus infections. I bet the Juniper Berry tea would work for that as well.

Does it do anything for kidney stones? Prevent, or help in any way? I'd hate to get one of those in a SHTF situation..
Or do you have another herbal remedy for those? I dont get them alot, but I do get one now and then.

Uva Ursi and cranberries are both good for urinary health, especially for ladies. Excellent stuff.
