I have been amazed with Aibo's since ive seen the first one! I can't believe that sony would stop making them! its heart breaking to think how they were progressing in every new model and to think how far they would have come by now! I've looked all over for something as good and there is nothing even close for sale! I really want one and don't trust ebay as a solution to this. For now I'm just praying they restart the aibo projects someday! Please keep the vids coming I love them!!!

Sony canceled Aibo production because they were having money trouble, and they had to stop production of a lot of their products. The robotics department just didn't make the cut, and unfortunately, Sony announced that they will never continue production of Aibo. D':

But I'm hoping that one day they bring Aibo back!

@RougeRoks They might come back. Sony sold their robotics division to Toyota, and they are doing some impressive stuff. Who knows, maybe they will resurrect the Aibo.

When they're babies, Aibos don't do much. At first, they can't even walk. So, actually, this Aibo is NOT a waste of money AT ALL.

LOL, no.. not at all! $1300 is an absolute BARGAIN for a bunch of low-cost primitive servos, an obselete processor, a low quality webcam, a piezo speaker and a battery. Sale of the fucking century!

Aibo is an autonomous robot with artificial intelligence, they are rare and very collectible. They think for themselves and act accordingly. They grow and develop a unique personality depending on how they are treated and how often interacted with....some of the models can read your emails out to you, news, diary for the day, write their own blog with photos that they have taken. If they hear any noises or see anything move at home they will take a photo and recording and send it to your mobile.

Also... They have facial and voice recognition, can track bright objects and perform tricks. They respond to around 100 voice commands and the ERS 7 model has a 1000 word vocabulary. They self charge when their battery is low and stay active on the station. They can be programmed to do many things and you can get lots of different software for them. The list goes on and on. I am very lucky and proud to be the owner of 8 Sony aibo's. There is nothing that compares with them in todays market.

Why the attitude? And if you think they are so rubbish why do you bother watching videos of them? Some people cannot have real pets for many reasons. Long live aibo! :)

As a collector of these fabulous robots I think it is fair to say you are the sad git wasting your time watching and commenting on videos that do not interest you lol :) And how can you comment and criticise on something so strongly that you have never even owned yourself! Check out some other vids, if you base your opinion off of this your ignorance to the robotic dog world is unfathomed. Anyways, they can do most anything, and can be taught to do most anything. If nothing else it is an awesome display of robot technology and artificial intelligence.

They were about £1,200 when they were new but Sony no longer make them. I think you can get them for a few hundred pounds or more on ebay depending on which model you want.

Yes it can walk. It grows up through stages. When it walks its very fluent. It also has sensors on it so it doesnt walk into things.
