@Jokerboy774 pop is the stiffness of the board. all fresh boards have nice pop. after you skate them for a while, they start to delam, and the deck begins to start feeling "soggy" if your getting a new board every week, you dont have to worry about losing pop, but if your not sponsored, then you want your decks to last as long as they can. element decks just dont do that. they are way to fragile, and start to delam CRAZY fast.

@Trent33424 well, if you are a beginner you will be fine using it because i doubt you would snap it, but otherwise they are bad boards to have if you are not a beginner because they snap, chip, they are made with bad wood and they are mechanically pressed rather than hand-made, so there is less effort to make the board which means there could be flaws. but ive had an element and it was fine

That is the most insane thing I have ever heard. Don't do that. I am not convinced by your presumably casual observation that his awesome dreads were directly the result of such an unorthodox method. I nearly destroyed my hair by using these makeshift methods. I encourage you to take a more established course and just stop brushing and stop using conditioner. Before you proceed onto something ostensibly ridiculous, you would be best to visit knottylocks. tk and get some advisory assistance.

Hell no. None of that. And the natural argument is severely flawed. Lots of natural things can have averse effects relative to other things, lots of natural things can kill you. Natural means nothing. Don't crochet in the beginning, either. Crocheting is a way of eliminating stray hairs by weaving them into dreads. Dreads! You can't do it if you don't have them yet. Dreads take time. Lots of time. Tosh's took lots of time.

You can backcomb if you like, but we haven't talked about that. If you want to go natural, all you have to do is refrain from using conditioner and stop combing your hair, obviously. You can wash as often as you like. Washing tangles the hair so it's certainly not a bad thing. You will hear dreadheads recommend different types of shampoos, most often Dr. Bronners, but anything is fine. I personally like tea tree. The natural method requires no work.

It may or may not. I have not seen your hair so I cannot begin to conjecture about the rate at which it would dread. My ex-girlfriend's hair dreaded very quickly; in 6 months she had dreads, and from there it was just them maturing and getting longer. Mine, however, take a long time. It varies depending upon your hair type, but I think you have the right state of mind in not anticipating it being quick. Go to knottylocks . tk if you want me to see pics. Now, to address you other concern, let me begin by saying that I am not quite sure if you can expect that with certainty. You could look at many pictures of dreads and get an idea of how they typically form. My ex-girlfriend's dreads were dreaded right up to the scalp. They would often jut out like spider legs. It was cool. I think I would have to see pictures of your hair to speculate more. Post some pics at knottylocks . tk and I will have a look.

I would guess your dreads would look much better than his if you have thick hair. Tosh's hair isn't all that thick. The natural process can take anywhere from 6 months to really get going to three years, depending upon a number of factors, e.g., hair type, thickness, length, lifestyle. I recommend going natural for some practical reasons, but I would have to know more about your hair and whether your scalp is susceptible to irritation.

Water is not necessary, so that is fine. I think it is important for you to achieve dreads gradually to abate scalp irritation, therefore I think you are confined to going natural. If you are confined to it, then you need not worry about how long it will take because you've no other choice. Two rules: No combs, no conditioner. I recommend tea tree shampoo, personally. Wash as much as you like. It's okay to wash regularly. Give it time.

In time they will. I am certain they will look better because you probably have way thicker hair than Tosh does. Dreads are dreads; what might make them look better or worse has to do with other factors. Tosh's dreads, themselves, look great, but they don't look spectacular on him, in my opinion. I prefer a thicker mane. Tosh has a very nice dreadlock texture and distinctness, though - two features which lighter shades of hair typically have that dark dreads of a more solid color lack.
