  • Transition Effect!!!

  • Megaman music at the start, and link death at end... I win.

  • super mario bros deluxe is also a sort of upgraded version of super mario bros.

that game is for the gameboy color

  • @FeyenoordVoetbal

Yes, I know that. I own that game. However, prior to making this video, I had not heard of anyone making a hack of a SNES game based on the GBC title. You're not the first or last to say this, given I made this video some 3 years ago.

  • where can i get this rom?

  • Nice hack, man! But I don't like remakes, because aren't originals works of the hacker.

  • @BilleDourado

Well, they didn't make a straight remake, actually (I could have shown more if I'd actually thought about it...). They did have some extras thrown in. But I can see your point.

  • SMB 1 + SMB3 + SMW = Super Mario World, The Strange Hack: Super Mario Bros Deluxe

  • This is actually quite well made though the glitches seem to be bit of a problem. I give this game a 3 out 5 because the glitches are a bit much. EVERYTHING ELSE ROCKS!

  • Nice puns.

  • Oh and you actually get to play instead of waiting for Mario going in the pipe.

  • omfg its graphics of super mario bros 3 gameplay of super mario bros 1 and features of super mario world. awesome all the best games in 1. 5/5

  • Actually it's Super Mario All Stars Version of Super Mario Bros 3 Graphics, Levels of SMB 1 and Gameplay of Super Mario World.

  • Where can I download it?

  • Comment removed

  • What?

  • Wait a minute. Isn't Toadstool the little guy with the Mushroomhead? Or am I just really off? Because I thought the Princess was named Peach. Perhaps that's one of your "Easter Eggs."

  • Toad is the little guy with the mushroom head. (Mushroom Retainer, I think he was once also called.) Toadstool is the Princess's last name. (And it was the only known name in America, until Super Mario 64 established that her title and name are "Princess Peach Toadstool".)

  • @BohepansTheThird that was an interesting history. I believed that Japan called Mario's arch enemy Koopa, but in the US he was called Bowser.

  • @HunterTiger2100

I think it's because he's the leader of the Koopa tribe; I believe that Koopa is his last name, while Bowser is his first. But don't, like, hold me to that or anything; I only think so, not know that for a fact or anything.

  • No, she has another name. It's Princess Toadstool. and the mushroom guys are called 'Toads'

  • hey i played this hack before!

  • What is this on? Super Mario Bros Deluxe was made for the Game boy color right? This doesn't look like the same thing. Oh and a question I have been wanting to ask how does Mario do that exact jump thing? I don't think I saw it here though.

  • do i need a snes or nes emulator to play the rom?

  • SNES.

  • I gave up at the end when Mario...uh did Peach 0.o

  • Any link to play this?

  • Ok, heres what I see:

Graphics & Music from Super Mario Bros Deluxe

Gameplay (pretty much the Itembox, time & ending etc.) from Super Mario World

    Levels from Super Mario Bros.

Map based on Super Mario Bros. 3

Now I'm completely impressed. Well done to whoever made this.

  • "whoever made this" here.

Thanks, but I think I could have done it so much better had I started it when more resources were available to me such as sprite editors, etc.

I planned to completely remake it properly, and I got a good amount done before I lost interest and abandoned it.

  • i don't remember this game at all i guess its for the snes right think i could find it at gamestop or a used game store??

  • You're gonna have a hard time finding this particular game at a used game store or a Game Stop. >_>

  • So what is it custom made or a real game I have no idea here and why the hell did everybody mark me negative just looks like a good game to me thats all

  • Its a rom hack!! XP

  • its a rom hack!

  • but what does monopoly have to do with a mario hack? Awesome hack, 5/5. yes, I know you didn't make this hack.

  • Nothing, actually. I just get random, sometimes, with my tags. It's just for fun - rarely do all of my tags on each of my videos actually relate entirely to my video. xD But it's not blatant like "Angry Video Game Nerd" or what - I wouldn't want to rip-off of anyone, or steal their thunder, or anything like that. So...yeah. Monopoly. Nothin to do with anything. XD Just random.

  • I loved the "Transition Effect! Transition Effect!"

  • Sorry guys, but don't confuse THIS HACK of Super Mario Brothers 3 with the remake of the Original Super Mario Brothers! Yes, their is a complete liscensed remake of Super Mario Brothers on Super Nintendo, but this video shows a hack of SMB3,which runs on SNes too.

  • At last, someone understands this isn't the same thing as Super Mario All-Stars...

  • megaman x running is the best part of the video, hehehe.

  • Ok peoepl this si indeed a hacked version id knwo becasue i have the mario allstarts cartridge and it oes not paly liek thsi at all.

as a matter of fact thsi looks even beter than the snes remake

  • let's start at world 4-1...

  • i think this is a video of only the errors of this hack....

  • hey how did you get 42 with a star??? i beat the final level plus i have both warps open and the hammer battle when i beat the final level (0-4) my game isn't saved

  • not a hack this is on every super mario bros 3 game including gba

  • THIS IS NOT A HACK PEOPLE!

SUPER NES released a tribute game which remade all 3 Super Mario Bros. games in SUPER NES form. This is merely that game. This is a LICENSED SUPER NES game. Cant believe noone else here knows that.

  • Ummmm, yes, this IS a hack. You're thinking about Super Mario All Stars for the SNES which was an official remake of all 4 NES Marios. However, this is NOT that game.

  • This game is not Super Mario All-Stars. This is a Super Mario World hack called Super Mario Bros Deluxe. Anyone can clearly see that it is a SMW hack.

  • accually it is the super mario 1 game with mario 3 graphics from allstars anda super mario world controls physics

  • It's a Super Mario World hack. It just uses different textures from past games. That's the whole point of it being a "hack", to create your own world based on games.

  • Transistion Effect!

  • So this is only a remake of Super Mario 1?

  • To a huge extent. But there's a few extras as well. After the initial 8 worlds, there are extra stages, not the same as the Star Worlds or second quest or whatever one should call it from the original SMB1. Anyway, these exttra stages are in a new World 9 and a new World 0.

  • He skips the flagpole! And at parts such as 1:26, that SMB3 music comes on! ROTFL!

  • where can I download this? i want it!!!!

  • What part of this hack made you label it as "strange"?

  • I enjoyed everything up till that damn transition effect near the end. I did like the music as Mario ran towards the princess at the end. It was like, "CHARGE!!"

  • Can you play this using Snes9x emulator?

  • Yes, that is in fact what I was playing it on - it IS a hack of Super Mario World (SNES), after all.

  • Ya I found the site and all the other hacks. I was just wondering. Since the new Homebrew Channel came out for Wii. I have been trying to find some new games to play on it. Luckly this works on it.

  • @jodecideion no you cant

  • The hack is pretty good, but there are some things which left us all scratching our heads... I guess there were major limitations...

  • I wish someone would do a true "Mario World" hack of Super Mario Bros, like where the goombas and koopa troopas looked like they do in Mario World as opposed to how they looked in Mario 3. The look of the game is basically like Mario All Stars. The new mechanics are okay.

  • mine as well just play the original then

  • I like the look of the goombas and koopa troopas in Mario World more than in Super Mario Bros and Mario All Stars, so that means I should play the original? Yeah that makes sense.

  • were can i download that ?

  • That's a good question. @_@; Unfortunately, it was 9 months ago...so I don't recall. I'm sorry! I seriously will have to start saving the links of hacks I make videos of...

  • You can download this hack at here:

    smwcentral . net

  • 1. Your lives went from 8 to 74. 2 . your coins went from 6 to 83. 3. Your points went from 33500 to 748710 4. your lives went from 74 to 5. 5. your points went from 748710 to 18010 5. your coins went from 83 to 36 6. your power up dissappeared. I don't have time to go further, although there are more.

  • Glad someone was paying attention! Good on you.

For parts of this, I used a new game file - other parts, I used a file I'd already cleared the game with.

  • So it was done with multiple files. That explains it.

  • Indeed so. I didn't figure it'd detract any from the video, as I was just showing aspects of the hack, not doing a "Let's Play" or anything like that.

  • Wow... that is odd.

  • I cannot get this hack to work. Perhaps I'm missing a few requirements I don't know about.

  • nice!

  • woow

the guy who made taht hack should show it to nintendo, cuz it kicks ass

  • In case someone hasn't said this yet, there's a simple explanation as to why 1-2 only leads to world 4. The most exits a level in Mario world can have is two, so it would be impossible to make it go to world 2 3 and 4.

  • Yep, Another PissPoor Rom Hack

  • 700+k?

  • Well, it's certainly over 9000, which is good for Vegeta, but, what about 700,000?

  • shit man! just play Mario Allstars if you

    want Mario 3. jeez..

  • ?? 1:55-2:04 8 lifes to 74 lifes?

  • You caught the easter egg/inconsistancy/whatever! O_O! CONGRATULATIONS!!

  • where is this hack?

  • lol the bowser statue

  • It just won't die! O_O! Apparently it's the strongest statue in the world...

  • LOL

  • hey i think level 2-2 was -1! hmm

  • This is so cool. Just now, I downloaded the patch & played it.

  • haha

  • LMFAO transition affecttttttt!!!

  • i like how the person created all the old Super Mario Bros. levels but yeah this needs a little more work, especially with those retarded statue Bowsers!

  • As I have said before, Nintendo would not have put in unused enemies (example: SMB1 Bowser) just to take up space because that would not make sense (however, several copies of a level that have blocks that spell the word "TEST" doesn't make much sense to me either...but oh, well... :\ ).

In my opinion, this was a very well done hack despite the lack of certain things that only SMB could do that SMW could not do.

  • sorry for the double post...

  • Well for "SMB1 Bowser", its King Koopa not Bowser, but they look same --...-- Well this hack is really good keep up the good work !

  • bowser is king koopa he is king of all the koopas the enemies in mario bros

  • Your the champion of mario games.

  • mario doing a freakin butterfly stroke

  • whats this a hack of? the mario all-stars SMB3 or SMW?

  • The hack modifies a Super Mario World ROM, but I imagine it uses elements from Super Mario All-Stars to get away its changes. I would guess that the engine or whatever of Super Mario All-Stars is in some way based on the Super Mario World engine.

  • i checked real closely at the things it have smb3 and smw in ut

  • i was going to say, i bet it was a hacked super mario all-stars + super mario world rom, it combined elements frome almost all of the games on trhe rom, and it would be fairly simple if it was all the same game rom

  • transition effect! lol

  • Personally, I think the hack and the video were both well done.

BTW, in the original SMB for the NES, both Toad and the Princess were basically the same motionless statues the were in this hack (just to point that out).

  • Well, true enough, but at least they seemed to speak to you, as if they really were there. Plus the SNES remake, in Mario All Stars, had the Toads performing amusing little antics, right?

Just to say, I was surprised to see what felt like literal statues, as they didn't move, talk, blink, or so much as seem to be animate.

  • You're right. Toad did say "Thank you Mario! But our princess is in another castle." and he & the Princess had animations in Super Mario Allstars.

Actually, I thank you for pointing out that the original SMB had that dialogue. If you wouldn't have mentioned that, I would've missed that completely.

  • It did indeed. Which makes for amusing graphical glitches with certain GameGenie codes. Oh, the amusing dialogue that can occur...xD

  • woah! what the heck!

  • ofr some reason when he went to 8 to 74 lives he probably used game genie because see what he did in toad's house he went in the hole then in the pipe and the end

  • I doubt that. I think he cut off the part in which he kept collecting lives. He kept going back at 1-1, but he cut off the part because it would be boring. That's only my 2 cents, though. I might be wrong.

  • I know this video wasn't meant to be serious. However, there are a couple of things I would like to point out for those who are interested.

In regards to the "Bowser statue", Nintendo most likely wouldn't put in an enemy/animation/behavior just to take up space (that's what the "TEST" levels are for). Besides, each game wasn't meant to be modified to be an exact replica of another game. If that were the case, why not just copy the file or just do a gfx edit of one game to look like another?

  • How did you get from 8 lives to 74!?

  • Perhaphs an Action Replay code was used?

  • Have you tried the Lost Levels variation of this game hack (in other words, "Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels Deluxe")?

  • i completed lost levels. turns out there are also worlds A,B,C and D plus those level are all harfer than world 8. you dont get much for beating the game though.=(

  • Worlds 9, A, B, C & D were all in SMB2J, Super Mario Allstars: Super Mario Bros-Lost Levels and SMBDX: Super Mario Bros. for Super Players (GBC) (however, in SMBDX(GBC) you had to fulfill certain conditions that I can't remember to unlock the extra worlds).

  • That was hilarious.

    "Another effin' statue!"

XD I'm tempted to Favorite this. But I can't... Only the very best make it to my hall of fame...

Hmm. This hack was made before the era of SpriteTool. That explains a lot.

  • If nothing worked on the bowser statue, why did you threw fire balls at it like stupid?

  • I was trying to prove the point that no matter how many fireballs you throw, it won't affect him - plus I was just annoyed at him, and needed to take my anger out somehow.

  • 8:03. Holy crap. Lol

  • Holy shit in the end :O

  • scary Text:O!

  • O_O Weird... XD

  • oh my god. lol the transition effect scared me too! lmao

  • >.>; Come on, is my voice THAT scary? XD?

  • Holy... dude, it's like, let's skip to th... TRANSITION EFFECT!!!!! omfg that scared me

  • Me to!

  • yes XD jaja cool video how did you make this game? and sorry for insulting you

  • no it wasnt scary like that, i just wasnt expecting it. your voice inst scary! :)

  • Wow, the transition effect on stage 8-4 scared the crap out of me!

  • Me too ! lmao...

  • its just super mario bros 1 remade into a combined form of a couple more mario game graphics kinda lame o_o i dont like hacks like these, no creativity in level design

  • theres not a 2-1

  • How interesting, It would be interesting to play SMB with better graphics really, but regardless you can't change classics.

  • Indeed so! To do that would be to mess with their "classic" status, and that's just a line no true gamer would cross *nodnod*.

  • BohepansThe3rd, at world 2-3. There were not many backgrounds to replace the one from All Stars, so whoever made the hack did their best. It's a bit surpising to me, too.

Also, did you not stop and think that the entire sand area has water under it? After all, it IS just another mirage, or is it?

Also, where was the Bowser at 2-3? I did not see him.

I like the ending, too. lol

  • I never said it was a BAD hack - just a strange one. Some of them were honest first reactions...others were just meant to be funny.

  • I know. I'm not saying that you said it's a bad hack, it's just that whoever did this hack has done their best(even though the glitches are no excuse, that includes the statues).

  • on the question of WTF, Bowser, i say this. he's bowser, he does not have to make sense. he is so lazy, he doesn't capture the princess, he asks her over for a cup of tea and tells mario he's captured her so that mario gets some fricken exercise. the koopa army knows this, as they aren't really dead, they're just restin'. and does mario really care too much about the princess he finds being a fake? no, sir, he just walks right towards her anyway. raunchy italian! :B

  • Sounds good to me!

  • Engine: SMW

    Graphics: SMB 3 All-stars

    Game: SMB 1

    LOOOL!

  • Final comment today: Where'd you get the hack? I'm pretty sure you can publish a link to the .IPS file, even if you can't link to a ROM

  • To be honest, I don't even remember anymore...I'll see if I can't track it down, at some point.

  • I think you at least might want to decrease the volume of the "transition effect." It also seems a little inconsistent, since you transition a lot of times before that.

    I LOL'd, btw.

  • Pretty much no video of mine should be taken too terribly seriously. That line was used more as a joke, than anything else.

But at least you had a laugh! So that's good, yes?

  • i love the stupid koopas ahuehauehaeu

  • the graphics are great

  • one of the best hacks ever

now they need to make a super mario land dx

i beat this in about 4 hours

  • Suepr Mario Land, as in, the first Mario type Game Boy game? Now that would be interesting!

  • where can i get this rom

  • ''TRANSITION EFFECT'' LOL.

  • Thanks. xD Glad there's someone, anyway, that likes my "TRANSITION EFFECT" moments.

  • TRANSITION EFFECT lololololololol its soooo funny

  • Mario lives in a world where trees have eyes, clouds of eyes, land formations have eyes, turtles fly, mushrooms make you grow and flowers make you a living flamethrower, and you complain that fish jumping out of nowhere makes no sense?

  • ......Only because it sounded good at the time. XD Actually, any complaint I may have about the fish is the annoyance/challenge, not logic. And even then, challenge=good, so it's not a serious complaint. Not too serious, anyway.

  • how do you patch it to ur rom

  • i thinks it's very well done.

But that certain things with the flag poles and bowser... I did not like it.

But hey, you'd laugh if i tried any better.

    Good work.

  • Everyone keeps seemin to think I'm hatin on this hack...

I grant, maybe I went overboard in the video - but it wasn't meant as insult or anything, more like surprise that certain things were as they were. If I didn't like it or thought it wasn't any fun, A) I'd not have finished it, and B) I'd have put "The Horrible Hack" in the title instead of "The Strange Hack". You know?

So, really, I don't hate or dislike the hack - I just found the statues strange. o_o; Among other things.

  • ive downloadid them games, but i dont know what they open with, what do they open with?

  • You need an emulator

  • how to download this hack in smd mode?

  • where do u get the mario game graphics?

  • the "transition effect!" comment was gay

  • Instead of hearing SMB1 / SMB2J's course-clear fanfare when you touch any part of the flagpole, all you get is either the continuation of whatever BG music plays in the level you are at; or, if you touch the top of the flagpole (5000-pt bonus) SMB3's course-clear fanfare plays.

In both cases, you also hear the Hammer Bros. fanfare from SMB3.

  • It sure ain't nintendo-quality level-desgin, is it?

  • What Super Mario World version I need to play this game? I patched the IPS to my rom, but it gives me the bad rom error :(

  • wat's even the point, is he trying to save statues from other statues O_O

  • look when your in the minus world plce thingy press down thats a pipe

  • That hack is really good...i would like to see you do any better.

Why didnt you show what happens AFTER the statue???

  • mweh. This is nothing like the orginal SMB. *le sigh* But mweh, some people couldn't have the 1337 haxor skills you do.

  • 4:20, you're supposed to hit down. Nice going...

Also, this hack was made a long time ago. A lot of the resources that are available now such as custom sprites weren't available to me when I was making this.

  • So YOU made this hack...?

And yes, you're about the third person to point out I didn't hit down in quite the right spot...le sigh. Sometimes, one cannot win, even while trying.

    But seriously. I didn't go into playing this hack thinking about age or resources or whatever. I know little of hacking outside GameGenies and such. So...yeah. n.n;

  • Quote: Note: I am most certainly not claiming this hack as my own...twice in the video, it will show that it is copyrighted to someone else.

Hacks are meant to be played for fun, not for other people like you who can't even beat the first level...
