  • The best part is that he now knows what to say after that. He was looking down in his hands and I felt like he was unsure, but after reciting those lines with that girl, he knows exactly how it's supposed to go. It's so often in life we're not sure of what our next line is, but it landed right into his lap.

  • when she smiles, it makes her lines so cruel.

  • wow

  • I did not understand this at all.

  • @jaywhofan The actress is reciting a play she is auditioning for, she asks a lone gentlemen to act a character in the script where in the the script, the scene begins with her character and his character as lovers conversing on the foundation of their relationship. Her character confesses that she no longer loves him and that her affection for him has been a slow diminish. His character is shocked, not understanding why she doesn't love him. They recite twice before the gentlemen advises

  • @jaywhofan that she recite the script while smiling, a reason that we aren't given until the last 10 seconds. The gentlemen continues forth his lines but instead gazes into her eyes, appearing as a man disheartened by his spouse's confession, . The dismal expression nearly overwhelmed the actress, bringing her to tears as she recites the last sentences of the scene and thus causes her to act essentially as the character depicted in the script. The reason for the advice? He is living it verbatim

  • @Heyitsstu Its as much about the actress as it is about the man. When you come to a realization like what her character has, that you don't love your spouse / lover anymore, and you have to tell them... you're not angry. She tries the scene first in almost a scolding manner. No! You're sad, bittersweet. She doesn't love him anymore, "despite herself." She tried, she wanted, but couldn't. The smile is both as a defense, a wall to hide behind, and a nostalgic remembrance of happier times.

  • @jaywhofan an actress asks a real man to recite the script and thus be an actor. at least she thinks he's acting, she thinks she's acting, but in fact he is not acting, for him it is his real scenario, and so she gets caught up in his realness, stops acting, and the scene becomes real for her too, so in the end neither of them are actors. the script the actress reads is coincidentally the same as the man's real situation.

  • can the next person who dislikes this please leave their adress too?

  • @stevejackanddelaney also remember to play the piano video on repeat

  • No,get out.

  • aww man i guessed the ending!

  • yes

  • that women was an amazing actress!

  • @rex232 but i'd say he was equally good

  • @tyuobue26 Agreed!

  • So she brought him there, broke up with him, then went to the bathroom for like 5 minutes before leaving?

  • i was WROOOOOONG!

  • im hoping this is a happy film....

  • Comment removed

  • wow what are the odds that two women auditioning for the same role would happen to practice with him! Second one went through the motions more

  • @ClifftonBeach the second woman was actually breaking up with him. The first girl is basically saying exactly what his girlfriend just said to him. This all took place while his girlfriend was in the bathroom just like the first girl says her character does.

  • @Toohottorot wow thats deep thank you for bringing this to light

  • foley all the things!

  • that is so good, thank you

  • She still can suck dick right?

  • I dont understand, could someone please explain the ending for me?

  • @mch158 He happened to be going through the same situation....i think.

  • @mch158 This was beautiful! I didn't understand why "Paul" was so somber the whole time until the end. It was because the girl that came in the last scene was his significant other, and the lines he was rehearsing with the random actress was more-or-less what he had just gone through in real life. That's why he was able to give the actress pointers to make what she was saying more real...

  • Nice.

  • This would have been far better without the woman at the ending. It's better if it's only implied that someone broke up with him.

  • @abobabobabob

Absolutely, it's still a nice short but that would have made it far more intriguing.

  • @abobabobabob exactly.

  • @abobabobabob maybe if it had just finished with a shot of him and cut out with the footsteps coming from the bathroom?

  • @abobabobabob I totally agree. The ending made what was already obvious redundant.

  • @abobabobabob without the 2nd women you would think its just a play since the first women and him didnt know each other.

  • @abobabobabob

    absolutely not.

sickeningly poignant when that situation he just acted out turns out to be his situation.

first time you watch it, you miss everything.

second time you get pins and needles.

  • Lyk dis if u cry evrytim

  • @ruffunitlm Your spelling makes me cry.

  • @djdogjuam Dude, it's forced. Kind of like acting stupid to make a funny comment.

  • @ruffunitlm I cry not because of the film, but the way you spell things. I don't want to live in this world any more :(

  • @ruffunitlm it's 'evertim' ! :)

  • @ruffunitlm People actually type like this? Wow.

  • @ruffunitlm I thought this was written in French at first and ignored it. Jesus christ

  • @Dealwithityousuck Busted out laughing. If you didn't know, this is a meme. ahaha

  • @ruffunitlm poos vert si 2 pleur shak foi

  • @ruffunitlm You now hold the title of the best Youtube comment I've seen within context yet.

  • This touched me.

  • Fantastic. His cold demeanor seems so uninterested at first, but it turns out that it just reflects the realism of his situation. Great work!

  • This is so brilliant because it manages to captivate and envelop us with so much love and emotion in such a small period of time!

  • intense! crazy how much more emotion they could fit into this short clip, and here we have hollywood doing 3 hour epics where you don't feel a thing...

  • this is so good

  • France is known for their fantastic film makers.

  • I..... didn't get it.

  • @wesleyis16 Woman rehearses a breakup scene with a stranger who was going through a breakup.

  • I yelled out, "Oh that sucks!" At the end. This is very good! So sad!

  • HEYYY PLEASE + ADD TURKISH SUBTITLE.........

  • I feel like this short is much bigger then most of you initially believe...I mean, that woman comes in with her script and makes him recite it multiple times. While she is practising to try to emulate real life, he is literally practising for real life. In this way, we, like them, are always preparing for life. If she hadn't shown up, he would be sitting there thinking about the situation in his head repeating the same lines she just gave him, she's a representation of his internal thoughts...

  • damm~~on valentine day i saw this~~

  • at least first really stunning short film on this channel.

    i'm impressed. french rules!! :D

  • a nice ending: he is to say "get out"

  • @gemeni0 this is precisely what makes it interesting: for the spectator to speculate whether the man would/should have followed the script or not.

  • very impressive

  • REALLY REALLY GOOD!

  • I really can't understand who, what kind of person can put a thumb down on this?!? What is here not to like?!?

  • OMG speechless, just speechless. C'est Magnifique!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @aminesbest you spelled it wrong, it's "awsome"

  • @Grotok No, it's actually spelled "awesome" with an "e". The person didn't spell "french" correctly.

  • @aminesbest It's actually "french" with a "c" (:

  • Stunning portrayal of human emotion and irony

    =P

    i hope you understand.

    hmm

  • was that russian?

  • french.

This is what I call acting!

    By far, the best short!

    "C'est fini Paul"

  • Wow, magnifique, tout simplement magnifique, le jeu et la direction d'acteur, la realisation, les angles... Il y a tellement de finesse, de sensibilité là dedans, ça donne envie de pleurer quand ça se finit... Congratulations, I loved it, keep up the good work !

  • very very good acting! very very good directing!

  • that was amazing, inspiration :)

  • That's quite possibly the most insperational video of my life...

  • INCREDIBLE Acting Lesson here. Magic!

  • I've always get thrilled by French Cinema: simple, minimal -and at the same time- deep enough to greatly impress you, excite your feelings and stick in your mind for a long time. A combination that the commercial cinema (esp. Hollywood) seriously lacks today.

    ...

And all the above ideas can well be seen in this wonderful short! Great! :)

  • @alibeshjr Can you please name me a few good or your fav frech movies..... I wanna see them!!!

  • Magnifique!

    Trop beau!

    Love this!

  • This was really phenomenal. Five stars.

  • really*

  • relly cool

  • wow

  • i dont get it, why did she get all emotional? and then who is that lady that comes from the backroom at the end? the guys wife or something? did she misinterpret their conversation?? someone please explain for me!

  • The woman got all emotional because she finally understood the real weight of what she was saying.

As for the other woman, who comes out at the end, she and the guy had just had the same conversation - she tells him that she doesn't love him, gets all emotional, excuses herself to the restroom, and comes back and asks if they can kiss one last time before she leaves him, just like in the script that the other woman had just read. I hope this helped.

  • that was unbelievable, i am truly awed at that film

  • reeeeespect... Le jeu des acteurs est hallucinant :o

  • Absolutely remarcable!

  • i love futureshorts... amazing short films...

  • I was expecting the lady in the final scene to mutate into a monster and eat the guys head. That would have been a classy twist.

  • there is no need for a twist

  • wow, you guys really are artists... one of my favorites... amazing!!

  • c'est genial!
