im doin this with my tornado s30, but i swapped the spoiler to the front to counter this. also took off everything that i didnt need to steer, so its a good bit lighter. itll be awesome lol
This was us just having fun! It all started with building dragsters using Knex and adding the rocket engines to them. The truck was a result of one friend not having time to build a Knex car. What an unexpected outcome.
@krap101 Not sure, The engine had about 36lbs of thrust for almost two seconds. We had no idea that was going to be the outcome. We think regardless of anything done to the truck, the skid plate is why it lifted off the ground. Just alot of fun
Now all you need to do is get one of those new rc cars that have the wheels a larger height than the car itself, so that it is drivable no matter which way it flips. I was hoping to see the truck be able to drive around after flight. And with the ground impact I'm sure if you go with that idea, there should be some heavy suspension mods. Unless you scratch the actual flight idea and just use the rocket for speed. Which I think would be pretty impressive as well.
Thanks for the comment. None of us expected that, but I guess thats what happened when you pack a ton of thrust into a tiny object. the engine we used was a size G rocket engine which became unavailable after 9/11. However, three D size had almost the same effect.
You know, it was an old Team Assoc. 1/10 scale electric truck that was stripped down. I would say the weight was now more then 2.5 pounds. We were able to launch it 3 times before it was damaged.
You can buy up to a G size before requiring certifications in High Power Rocketry. Lvl 1 allows you to purchase H-I. Lvl2 Allows you to puchase J-K. Lvl 3 Allows you to purchase anything larger. N is generally the largest commercially available motor. But you can manufacture larger motors. The N can produce 2000LBS+ of thrust.

If it had a rear wing a front wing and was 2.0 pounds 1.0 for front 1.0 for back it can be equal and it won't be so hard on the landing
