i just keep this here... this act made me practice card tricks and flourishes! there were a few good card tricks in this first season but this is the one that made me get out my old bycicle deck and start flourishing, even if i still suck at this art, you made me start it! i'm 28 and i hope i will become as good as you in about 40 years, thanks so much! :)
2:03 look at the guy expression over penn's left shoulder. i laughed so hard when i saw this because it was the exact same face i was making with my face a foot away from the screen.
That is a BALLSY sleight. Pair of sleights. Oof. I remember being blown away by this one when I first saw it. Curse YouTube for ruining all magic tricks! Well, not truly ruining, since now I can respect you for the precise skill you demonstrated. Well done.
@vasmousous Not true. The whole point of the show is to fool them. Any communication or prior knowledge would be construed as 'unfair preparation.' This effect can be achieved with any deck.
@vasmousous You idiot, don't you know that Penn n Teller were magicians before so they know cards, every magicians are using bicycles and btw its the second time where Penn nTeller brings the deck.
For anyone who wants the tutorial don't even bother... the trick looks really easy and the technique also is pretty basic. But to master it to a level that is so high is just incredible. Won't reveal anything but let me just say Daniel, the first thing you have to do for this trick and how you did it was the best I have ever seen! Although you can see a small flaw in the video.
I havent really hard much about you until I looked at your dvd, dangerous. This dvd revealed to me your fluency with a specific type of move (that shall remained unnamed). With this knowledge, I was able to figure out how the 1st part was done. Still, i was astounded by your dealing so I had to buy how to cheat at cards. I'm still at the beginning, but I've read through the chapter on "the move" that you do in this demonstration. I must say, you have done a fantastic job with this book!
I've gone to your site and tried to check out the reveals you state in the videos you've posted, that you'd show, posted from your site. However, it appears none of them are available anymore? Each (different) one I look up that you provide the address for just indicates the page cannot be found. Are you now only exclusively offering info to those who purchase your books/pdfs/dvd's?
Wow. So the first 15 times I watched this I thought you were feeling the cards. Then I realized its more about the deception. Being a sleight of hand enthusiast myself, I thought of how you MUST be doing it. Then I watched it again and caught it. But even after the move, I've never seen some one deal so smooth. Amazing, your probably one of the best card sleights in the world. You have inspired me.
with what you said at the beginning "the casinos wont let me in"...im not 100% sure but i dont think they let any magicians in no matter what there style is...not 100% sure thats true but i think
brilliant and perfectly executed. daniel, im a fan and i love how u did it. i kept watching it over and over again, until just today, i figured it out. And because of that, i understood how difficult it is to do. coz i find it hard to deal it that way. maximum respect man :)
The first time I watched this, even as a magician I was completely baffled. I actually do the same move, but because he does it so well, it was just absolutely perfect
Really amazing, beautiful performance and a real piece of magic....I dont see how they busted you......a slieght is only half of that trick how did you control or in other words magicly collect the royal flush? I dont want to know, actully i'd rather enjoy what is so hard for me these days.......you got a fan and a brother in Magic
The only reason i know what you did is because penn and teller gave it away when trying to figure it out but thats amazing. How long did it take you to learn not 14 years i imagine
I hate how some people on this show have made it on technicalities such as faking a blatant move such as a switch. They really need to stop the '1 guess' rule. Either way, you were one of the best acts on so far.
I don't think you should have had one of the last 2 cards be the JOD because that slightly gives away the nature of the trick -- It's almost too convenient. Your sleight of hand skills are out of this world though.
Brilliant performance. Like seriously, not only was it a brilliant magic trick but it was performed perfectly and very entertaining. Thanks, and keep up the amazing work!
Very well done Mr. Madison. I got it after a few watches. You're right simplicity does fool the magician because you have very good showmanship which helps lead people away from the method. Keep doing what you're doing. You're the man.
NICE performance! You have adapted this sleight in a more or less traditional effect with a nice twist of the blindfold. I know the two sleights yet you did it flawlessly. BTW first time I've seen you in colour, awesome!!!
You are sick mate, and your sleight of hands have always impressed the crap out of me. But if I'm right about how you did this, I thought it was too bold to pull off with the two of them standing just a couple of feet away. The context was great, however, but I think you need something more unexpected (like Mathieu did) in order to get their holding their trousers down.
the trick is pretty simple - you can feel the print of the cards. See how he holds them, so he can feel the number and the suit of the card... You need a lot of practice to do that with one finger...
definately my favourite act so far, i really have no idea how you did it, im guessing that the flush cards wernt taken from the top of the deck like the others where, but if you couldnt see anything and youd never handled the deck before, i have no i dea how you could have got the cards into position for the move, absolutely brilliant. well done
Hey Daniel Madison! Your video's keep me inspiring. I also opened my youtube account with a video. After Three years of labour I thought the time had arrived. Therefore I invite you to have a look at it. It would be an honour to have you viewing it. Thanks.
@DAN1ELmadison how did you made that trick? Any possibility showing it to me? Or at least giving me a small hint. I can't imagine it being a move as Penn described it!
That is one damn superb trick. First look i knw how u did it. Its a simple trick but soo hard to execute it. To do it in frnt of them is so daring. Nice , veri nice.
a thing i want people to concider is that the deck is still shuffled and borrowed and he has a blindfold..... you have to able to know the possition to understand where the cards are and so forth Damn impressive! it still fools and i dont know!
Caught it. Not going to expose it, but after what Penn said, I went back to see if I can catch it, which I did. I'm not saying it wasn't well done, it was just about perfect. I'd love to send you a message with what I think you did if that's ok. Again though, it was done greatly, great job!
Nicely done Daniel , I eagerly await your book. I love your other material :) Keep it up. How much practice did it take you btw???? I have spent a year learning it and I still suck.
It really is an easy trick that is very hard to pull off. I'm not going to say what he does, but I will say that the camera wasn't nice to you at times during it. I've loved magic for many years, but my clumsy hands could never pull something like that off. Kudos.
I don't get it....I am utterly perplexed, dazed, and confused at how you did this. So glad to have seen this display....you are so skillful, it IS Magic. Amazing.
there is one cheat on the viewer, you had access to the same deck of cards penn and teller would give you, and P&T must have known about this as well.
very good control of the cards i know how hard it is to pull off that technique. my friend has tried to teach me but i just cant do it with out being caught. so amazing skills, it was flawless
Did you slip in those 5 specific cards when he handed you his deck, and count exactly where they were by stack height? If so, that in itself is ridiculously impressive.
@Farris2k7 That's what I thought too, but that would mean he would have to know what kind of deck Penn & Teller would bring. It would still be an incredibly impressive technique, but cheap because he pretended to not know anything about the deck beforehand. As likely as it seems, I don't believe this is the solution.
Truly impressive. I agree that it's not an illusion, but pure skill. I might even hesitate that there is no trickery, because I would imagine trickery would be the method that shaunthepanda detailed (which I believe to be incorrect).
Comments on this video are all 'pending approval' to control blatant exposure in hope that you can force yourself to figure out the methods rather than being told.
I would hope that at least one lesson is offered in this performance... Take a risk.
@DAN1ELmadison It's kinda sad you didn't pass and guys like Graham Jolley with self working tricks went to vegas. I thought about this for a long time and the only explanation I have is that you punched the cards. However I have no idea how you punched them since you never touched them with your eyes open.
You're the best and btw it's great to see you in color lol.Congratulations
Strange how the simplest things fool the magician, and the most difficult sleights get busted, but it is an 'entertainment' show and Penn does have an incredible knowledge on the subject of card-table deception.
@DAN1ELmadison I have to agree with you on that, I was most entertained by the hilarity of Graham Jolley. Nonetheless, you were excellent mate. No idea how you did it, and I'm most likely, never going to find out. Keep up the good work.
@videos4mydad I can guarantee you that penn, in fact no one in that entire building was in on it. This was pure slight of hand. No gimmicks. No stooges. This was just beautiful!!! Well done Daniel!
After watching this a few times, and going over the possibilities, even trying out a few, I think I've figured it out, and if it is truly how you do it, then I am amazed at how much work this took to perfect.
i bet it's some combination of hearing how each single card sounds when he slightly brushes them on each other while dealing them (that's why he has to do it in silence) and/or how the face-down side feels on the tips of his fingers.
printing ink does change the surface of a card, maybe that's a key to how he could identify the royal flush
Here is my hypothesis. The poker table was see through and there was actually a man inside it looking up. There was a small speaker in the blindfold that would let out beeps to tell him when he had the right card.
PS: now i know why every time i saw Pen & Teller i had a deja vu feeling.. like i knew them from somewhere, i`ve seen them before, but i couldn`t put my finger on it. But, today, as I was shuffling thru the TV`s channels.. i saw the answer. It was right there all the time. On BOOMERANG... Yes.. Pen and Teller is Droopy and Dripple. How could i`ve been so blind till now? BTW D+M.. nice performance on the show.
Can see the technique used in this to pull off the effect, very good Daniel. Don't think I'd ever pull the confidence to perform this though to some people like Penn And Teller. haha, all the best, Keep it up - Stan. NZ.
@DAN1ELmadison i want to know what you thought when you watched the video back and saw penn trying to punch you

I'm with Penn, I'm more impressed with what you actually did as opposed to being fooled
cardillusions 7 months ago
Well done..... saw the move and wow you are good and brave to do that infront of Penn and Teller......
Blayros 7 months ago
there is one cheat on the viewer, you had access to the same deck of cards penn and teller would give you, and P&T must have known about this as well.
TheHardProblem 7 months ago
very good control of the cards i know how hard it is to pull off that technique. my friend has tried to teach me but i just cant do it with out being caught. so amazing skills, it was flawless
kungfuhustler91 7 months ago
Did you slip in those 5 specific cards when he handed you his deck, and count exactly where they were by stack height? If so, that in itself is ridiculously impressive.
Farris2k7 7 months ago

@DAN1ELmadison Are you saying you risked the red Bikes? That's pretty ballsy if it's true.
OPaivio 7 months ago
@DAN1ELmadison It's kinda sad you didn't pass and guys like Graham Jolley with self working tricks went to vegas. I thought about this for a long time and the only explanation I have is that you punched the cards. However I have no idea how you punched them since you never touched them with your eyes open.
You're the best and btw it's great to see you in color lol.Congratulations
cfb4ever 7 months ago 3
@cfb4ever Thanks.
Strange how the simplest things fool the magician, and the most difficult sleights get busted, but it is an 'entertainment' show and Penn does have an incredible knowledge on the subject of card-table deception.
I thought Jolley was hilarious btw
DAN1ELmadison 7 months ago
@DAN1ELmadison I have to agree with you on that, I was most entertained by the hilarity of Graham Jolley. Nonetheless, you were excellent mate. No idea how you did it, and I'm most likely, never going to find out. Keep up the good work.

@cfb4ever So let me get this right, you know about punch work but you dont know how THIS is done. uhhhh, sorry i just find that strange.
TheBradTobin 7 months ago
@cfb4ever Why is it sad that Graham went to vegas?
It's not about the trick it's about the performer

nice one.man i admit u had me for a moment.good luck man .cheerz

I know nothing about magic...but I would bet Penn was in on it. Penn focused on how Daniel dealt out the cards - not how Daniel found the cards!
videos4mydad 7 months ago
@videos4mydad I can guarantee you that penn, in fact no one in that entire building was in on it. This was pure slight of hand. No gimmicks. No stooges. This was just beautiful!!! Well done Daniel!

After watching this a few times, and going over the possibilities, even trying out a few, I think I've figured it out, and if it is truly how you do it, then I am amazed at how much work this took to perfect.

texture on the cards?
untitled06 7 months ago
Whats the solution to this?
disdizz 7 months ago
How did he do it?
disdizz 7 months ago
i bet it's some combination of hearing how each single card sounds when he slightly brushes them on each other while dealing them (that's why he has to do it in silence) and/or how the face-down side feels on the tips of his fingers.
printing ink does change the surface of a card, maybe that's a key to how he could identify the royal flush
EmporioZuagroast 7 months ago
Here is my hypothesis. The poker table was see through and there was actually a man inside it looking up. There was a small speaker in the blindfold that would let out beeps to tell him when he had the right card.

I bet Chuck Norris could have easily fooled them.
BTW D+M.. nice performance on the show.

watched several of the others from this show. to me yours is much more impressive than the ones who fooled them
josiewhales 8 months ago
Lol, very well performed, took a couple of replays to notice it. I wonder what would have happened if they pulled out a pack of nudes though :p

@6.04 Teller's expression was PRICELESS. That 'Yeap that sucker was me' look.

Beautiful performance, Daniel, as usual. You elevate the art.
avdad2000 8 months ago
Can see the technique used in this to pull off the effect, very good Daniel. Don't think I'd ever pull the confidence to perform this though to some people like Penn And Teller. haha, all the best, Keep it up - Stan. NZ.

This is a great bit for all laymen, I'll be trying this soon, I like the method.
What surprises me most though is seeing you in color, I look more like you now that I would've guessed!
