@juglerseth This is Nhemamusasa not Marenje. If you try to sing along the words for Nhemamusasa you will find the rhythm is not that of Marenje! Priceless song in any case

@corc1300 I've listened to it again, and I still don't think it is Nhemamusasa. I'm almost positive it is marenje. If you listen to the high line, it goes high and as it descends it jumps back high for a note (sometimes) before it continues the descending line. Nhemamusasa does not. I could be wrong, there are so many versions of every song, but of my 400+ recordings I can always recognize the song (its a game I play while driving).

Great, for me Mbira music is one of the best universal music. Love it, here in Mexico we have some music from Gonamombe Albert Chimedza music, jus great! African music = Gorgeous music!!!

I believe this song is actually Marenje. And the quality of the tone sounds more like an Mbira Nyunga Nyunga, whereas the picture above is of the Mbira Huru (or mbira dzavadzimu as it is sometimes called). Both mbira are "Mbira of Zimbabwe", I just want to keep things straight :)

Thanks for the clarification! My reply is a bit overdue, but I'm now in possession of an Mbira Dzavadzimu that I practice daily. Marenje, as it turns out, was one of the first songs that I decided to pick up by ear, such was the beauty of this rendition that struck me way back when. I hope, perhaps, to be "serenading" Youtube at some point in the near future with my retelling of the tune :)
