It has been proven that if your brain learns the scales and every person on this planet has that ability then by listening to beautiful music you will achieve a euphoric state and relax and feel good. If however, you have been raised on trash music then you will need drugs to achieve the same feelings. Time to ditch the trash and drugs and grow into a human:)
@juglerseth This is Nhemamusasa not Marenje. If you try to sing along the words for Nhemamusasa you will find the rhythm is not that of Marenje! Priceless song in any case
@corc1300 I've listened to it again, and I still don't think it is Nhemamusasa. I'm almost positive it is marenje. If you listen to the high line, it goes high and as it descends it jumps back high for a note (sometimes) before it continues the descending line. Nhemamusasa does not. I could be wrong, there are so many versions of every song, but of my 400+ recordings I can always recognize the song (its a game I play while driving).
This sounds like water dripping from a natural source after days of thirst, pure natural and nourishing.........The terrible thing is there are thousand who can play like this in Zimbabwe without any form recognition except in their villages yet this music is so universal and craved for all over the world!!!!
of course, it could be a version of Mahororo as well... The high lines suggest Marenje to me but the two songs are very much melodically the same, they just taste a little different.
Chakahollic. Ask Albert about the Mexican artist´s who meet in Viena, we were with him in the New Crowned Hoppe, the moment of mi life!!!! All the best from Mexico!!!
Great, for me Mbira music is one of the best universal music. Love it, here in Mexico we have some music from Gonamombe Albert Chimedza music, jus great! African music = Gorgeous music!!!
I believe this song is actually Marenje. And the quality of the tone sounds more like an Mbira Nyunga Nyunga, whereas the picture above is of the Mbira Huru (or mbira dzavadzimu as it is sometimes called). Both mbira are "Mbira of Zimbabwe", I just want to keep things straight :)
Thanks for the clarification! My reply is a bit overdue, but I'm now in possession of an Mbira Dzavadzimu that I practice daily. Marenje, as it turns out, was one of the first songs that I decided to pick up by ear, such was the beauty of this rendition that struck me way back when. I hope, perhaps, to be "serenading" Youtube at some point in the near future with my retelling of the tune :)
And thanks for keeping things straight...keep the musical peace.
What a scintillating and gorgeous rendition of Nhemamusasa! Unfortunately, I purchased all three of the Nonesuch compact discs that feature Shona mbira music and this version is not present on any of them. ytclassic, if you don't mind divulging, from where exactly did you obtain this gorgeous music?
I hope you know what you want in life, because you won't learn it by selecting from a pre-written list of so called "careers" to "train" for. Opportunity is not and can not be given, it is created in the abstract through understanding the world around you and is consciously utilized. You can't wish for an opportunity. Thinking that you can only shows how naive you are.
You have a lot to learn. I hope your blind journey isn't too harsh on you.
Well I don't know, you can't seem to afford a full copy of 'Digital Media Converter' judging by your video you've posted on your homepage. Sounds like you're all mouth and trousers.
Nah... you're ok, I won't thanks. Tahnks for the offer though, next time want someone living in a world of fantasy I'll give you a shout. Keep taking the pills.

Lots of Zimbabweans can play the Mbira, because it takes their minds off the Mbunemployment, the Mbinflation and the Mbdictator...

If relying on other people to take care of you is what you consider nice, then have at it. I think it is pathetic.
I haven't really been too interested in buying on, so I haven't seen the pricetag yet. I don't know if I can afford it or not.
