    yeah the D5000 makes it easy with an inbuilt timer. Just set it and go to bed!

    You *could* still just stand there pressing the button every 30sec! :)

    Actually - I think the Canon software that comes with your cammy has time lapse abilities, albeit you need the cammy connected to the PC/laptop to do it!
