Of course everyone's entitled to their opinions and I know some people feel that Bustamante was "sick" and shouldn't be treated as an adult in this case, but what about the victim? That 9 year old girl, who didn't hurt anyone (and who may have contributed to society had she lived), was murdered! Imagine the pain going on with her family, not to mention the terror she must have felt while she was being victimized. And Bustamante laughed about it in her diary! My heart is with the victim.

Her mental disease made her write in her journal that it felt thrilling, right? She was sentenced as an adult because the Juvenile facilities aren't setup for people like her. In Germany she would get 10 years youth prison and as long as necessary in a closed mental institution of that time. I think the sentence is disproportional. The court did not pay attention for her age and her previus mental illness. I don`t think she is a coldblooded killer.

Sure enough it turns out she was on Prozac when this happened. Read studies (independent studies) on this and you will see there is a link between suicide, homicide and these drugs. The makers know this but profits come first to them.

Zoloft isn't "mind numbing" it's a selective serotonin inhibitor. It counteracts the workings of depression, that is often inherited genetically, and not always possible to deal with at will. Of course everyone's entitled to their opinions and I know some people feel that Bustamante was "sick" and shouldn't be treated as an adult in this case, but what about the victim? That 9 year old girl, who didn't hurt anyone (and who may have contributed to society had she lived), was murdered! Her mental disease made her write in her journal that it felt thrilling, right? She was sentenced as an adult because the Juvenile facilities aren't setup for people like her. Sure enough it turns out she was on Prozac when this happened. Read studies (independent studies) on this and you will see there is a link between suicide, homicide and these drugs. The makers know this but profits come first to them.

Ahem.. I have been using it myself for 6 years, and let me assure you, I have never felt the need to kill a human being. Never! Clearly this person was pre-disposed. Don't make such stupendous generalizations and blame it all on one drug. Humans are more complicated than that.

@askjiir What do you not understand? THE MANUFACTURER ADMITS THAT IT CAUSES THESE ISSUES....What is there not to understand? Do some research for yourself and stop just saying ..."well I dont" ...."I know someone who doesnt". Obviously you arent very bright and cant understand psychological principles.

Zoloft isn't "mind numbing" it's a selective serotonin inhibitor. It counteracts the workings of depression, that is often inherited genetically, and not always possible to deal with at will. But this is probably above your head, you don't seem to be the very accepting type when it comes to use of medicines on the psychological field. Maybe you should you do some more research before you cast judgement, but I'm quite sure you wont do that and keep judging me. Predictable type.

I've suffered from a depression all my pre-teen, teenage and partially into my adult life. I found the cause and I never needed any medicine to do so. You damn well bet cha I am not very tolerant of medicine. Unless you are hopelessly brain-damaged, all depression stems from an outside source. Find the source; deal with it; depression solved. Are you saying your body is unable to regulate itself?

@sedrftgyhuiyt Sympathy? Please. Where was hers when she strangled the life out of an nine-year-old girl. That is disgusting that you even stated that. No matter who she is and who her family is that's not right. She took away a girls life. She also took her own she'll spend it in jail. I come from a dysfuncitional family but do I go around taking my anger out on others? Absoluetely not. She does derserve to be locked up. She commited the crime she can do the time.

@Sittingonthestars you're relatively lucky, then. you and she are obviously in different situations. you're right, she took away a girls life, there is no doubt that it is a heinous crime, albeit a crime of her then state of mind. but do you think that means that the system taking her life away is justified? if she gets help, there is a chance she can change for the better. tell me, really think about it, how would jail help her? she needs mental health treatment, jail = danger for her/others.

@sedrftgyhuiyt I had a fucked up childhood and am on medication for a mental disorder. I also have a bachelors degree, raise two kids, and have a well paying job. No excuses. shitty upbringing and medication is no excuse for murder.

@diesesmadchen ok, to be honest, i didn't realize there was no effective treatment for psycho/sociopathy. so in that case, i still believe she is mentally ill, isn't necessarily "evil," but has an untreatable medical condition, and the best place is probably jail.

@sedrftgyhuiyt Jail or a stae hospital in my opinion, although she may benefit from conditions in a state hospital more so than jail. As long as she is off the streets, I am good. I have two young kids of my own and seeing these actions from a 15 year makes me want to vomit.
