Thanks for posting this. No mention that this was the final episode when shown on TV Ontario, which should have been done as well. Thanks for mention of the Royal as TV Ontario is showing this show and probably won't mention it as well

Heartbeat was always rubbish. They should have put the Grim Reaper in the first bloody episode and saved us all 18 years of patronising crap.

According to today's Private Eye, the grim reaper was inserted as an in-joke by disgruntled staff who were gutted at being axed by ITV!! lol

Was disappointed with ITV, I knew it was the last ever episode but I don't think the announcer mentioned it. Poor Oscar, I hope if and when the Royal comes back that he might be in it.

He is not in it and there are 9 episodes left and one of the main characters in the final episode of THE ROYAL is stabbed leaving that series on a cliffhanger just like HB.

Could not believe my eyes when watching this last night ...sure my husband didnt believe me when i told him. We were in Whitby and on the moors on the last day of filming we were told Fri 1st may 2009.They were they filming the rain storms at the quarry saw many cast members and John Duttine (SGt Millar)is a very lovely man. its a great show an all time favourite and goodness why they have scrapped this fantastic series is beyond me with such a huge following too ...come on more Heartbeat PLEASE

@lincsposter - When they they were informed that HB and TR was to be cancelled that / this (final) series had not yet finished filming.

At that point they had no idea hence the usual end of series cliffhanger. However, once they did know the scene was altered to include the Grim Reaper.
