You must love the chicks new album then. Songs to play to the troops when you've insulted the leader of the free world by saying you're ashamed he's from texas. Don't they think he's ashamed too? shame on chicks picking bush. Maines a hottie though, I'm impressed.
This version is really well done. I still prefer Stevie Nicks' version but that's because it's the original. People don't always seem to understand that most of the time a band/artist does a cover of a song, it's because they really like the song and respect the artist, and are paying homage to them.
Finally, 'jojo', after being essentially taken off 'country air' they've considered themselves more rock than anything else. Even when they were solidly country singers, they had more of a rock attitude in most of their songs, which was probably why I loved their music so much. You're making it sound like you're devoted to Nicks when you say that the Dixie Chicks could never write a hit. That's a blatant lie, because they've written quite a few. Expand your mind, hon.
Both are great, phenomenal performers. I adore the Dixie Chicks, and Stevie Nicks is responsible for this song, is she not? She gets the credit for that... even so, I actually don't like how hers starts off much lower in tone by comparison to the Dixie Chick's rendition. Then again, the original tends to be better, so I take my hat off to Miss Nicks, while still adoring the Dixie Chicks.
she has no rasp in her voice like stevie. If anyone is fingerpicking guitar its drowned out by everyone else. This is not a country song. dizzy chicks are supposedly country. They obviously are doing this song for income cause they could never write a hit like this.
To be fair to them, I probably liked them more for their rock/country combination. Very rock attitude with some country instruments. X3 What can I say? I'm a girl for variety, not narrow-mindedness when it comes to music.
Miss Nicks has her own style, and the Dixie Chicks have theirs. FYI, if you're so into boundaries not being crossed or shattered, country singers have done R&B their way, R*B artists have done country songs their way, and you know what? It's probably because those artists love those songs, regardless of the genre. n_n
Money could have all or nothing to do with it, but money should have very little influence on doing something because you love it. They probably did it because they love the song (who couldn't?) and Nicks is probably one of their musical idols. They did this song as a show of respect, I'm sure of it. I'm sorry that it offended you, but it was never meant to be offensive: merely appreciative.
Nice version. But Stevie`s version is better. She sings it with much more passion. She wrote the song and you can the passion in her face when she sings it.
The main difference is Stevie plays the song a full bar lower. If you look close, the Dixie Chicks have a capo on the 7th fret, where Stevie has it on the 3rd.
Alot better than the original.

This is pretty good, but you really can't compare it to Stevie. She is just a goddess. Still love the DC version though!
