It's such a shame that Slade never really had success in America. I remember they were supposed to open for Ozzy on his BARK AT THE MOON tour in 1984..they were riding the success of KEEP YOUR HANDS OF MY POWER SUPPLY..but they had to cancel out because Jim had heppatitus ..so Ratt ended up filling the bill..needless to say Ratt was booed off the stage.
They are both the best! By the way: I always considered Slade a younger brother of the Stones and mr.Richards intro's were far most the best of the two, don't you think ?
These boys knew how to have a LOT of fun. Short, sweet, and right to the point...ROCK! I saw them long ago with Aerosmith, and Thin Lizzie.(St. Paul) As the show turned out, Aerosmith sucked (too drunk, they were) Thin Lizzie...Slade blew them all away
@ajay999999 They are both the best! By the way:I always considered Slade a younger brother of The Rolling Stones but Mr Richards made the far most the best (guitar) intro's
All Slade fans! The Official Online Slade Shop is open and it's great! Got all the albums aaaand it has a couple of special podcasts detailing the Slade Story... if you're a fan like me, check it out! Spread the word.... SLADE!!! sladeshop . com
Notice how daves got one leg on a chair throughout the vid. Hes actually got a busted ankle and hes in plaster. He bust it running away from fans whilst wearing platform boots.
@daltonaleksinac: Thank you for the upload. I saw Slade in the summer of '75. They were unknown to me at the time. They were the opening act of a show that included R.E.O. Speedwagon, and the headliner Aerosmith. Slade, by far, outrocked either of the other two bands that day. They kicked major ass. Next day, I had their albums. Still do. Keep rockin'. Take care.
@lennydylan I wouldn't call them first heavy metal band as Black Sabbath and Deep Purple were already out. But I would say that they were the first Glam Metal or Pop Metal. I say that because they still played kick-ass Metal music, but instead of talking about the dark stuff (like Sabbath), they just rocked out and having fun. Without them, guys like Poison, Motley Crue, Van Halen, not even Kiss would exist.
i think slade put humour into everything they did (as you can see in this video)thats what made them so good people could relate to that and i think they really lifted this country ,always slade fan no one rocked like slade, thanx lads.
I guess the chair got "SLAYED" by Dave LOL!!! Love the camera shots! They really tried to make the viewing public see what makes Nod sing so good. Dave sitting in the chair playing on the full shot reminded me slightly of a jug band on a front porch somewhere in Alabama. Long Live Slade!!!!!!! KOR!!!!!!
