  • So the molecule just "disappears" from the stomach and "appears" in the blood vessel? This animation doesn't actually show anything except for the state of the molecule before and after. There is no audio commentary either.

  • This is more about how it can weaken the stomach lining. Wouldn't most get absorbed in the small intestine rather than the stomach? (But the risk for gastric ulcers are greater in the stomach)

  • @DJuggz06 You would think so, but aspirin is absorbed in the stomach. Like most weakly acidic molecules, it exists predominately in its neutral state in the low pH of the stomach, meaning it is non-polar and lipophilic, and able to cross the stomach walls directly into the bloodstream. It all depends on the pka of the molecule.

This video has ruined my day

  • @mda02djp ruined your day huh? I'd hate to see what happens if someone makes your coffee the wrong way then

  • what about the commenting ? audio got messed up ?

  • @DjMikeless it's intended to be shown in a classroom with a professor explaining what is going on.
