@soverato3 god no, last flight was in 1999, and that was a Tu-144LL operated my NASA (it had different engines and was for research). The last passenger flight was on 1st June 1978, it was only used for about 3 years :( such a shame...
@mikedsmith75 Actually, the -144 was a serious piece of junk. If it wasn't rusting away, it would probably have crashed by now. It's better this way, believe me...
@j4cko56 How eloquent. Can you argue your point a tad more effectively and provide some evidence the -144 was not what I stated it was? Didn't think so.
@beeroosterm first of all, stop being such an arrogant twat. The fact that the Tu-144 could go Mach 2, and was faster than Concorde proves that it isn't a "piece of junk". And as it happens, it beat Concorde into the sky, so it cant be that bad, granted, it wasn't as successful as Concorde, but it hardly had any funds. I'd like to see you do an better, nobody likes a smart-ass. People like you only follow the crowd, just because others don't like it doesn't mean you have to insult it.
@j4cko56 What a bunch of sour grapes excuses you give! The fact that it could go Mach 2 was overshadowed by the fact that it was only with afterburners (until much later when different engines were installed). And it was insignificantly faster (30 mph). That it "beat" the Concorde to the sky is insignificant - especially given its miserable performance. And I'm not just following the crowd; Concorde was superior in every measurable way that mattered. Sour fucking grapes!
@beeroosterm You are so funny, its speed and range troubles were down to the engines, not the aircraft. The aircraft was up to the job, the engines that were provided were not, they used the only engines that were available at the time. I'm English you stupid twat i think i should know that Concorde is better, im not arguing that, im arguing that the Tu-144 isn't a pile of junk. Tbh the fact that everything still works in the aircraft after over 30 years, proves that really its not all that bad.
@j4cko56 Is that all? Gee, Mr. Smartypants - I would have thought that the engines on a supposed Mach 2 aircraft would be an important matter. Guess you can always replace them later if they don't work as claimed. And the fuselage was very poorly designed as well, immediately suffering from stress related cracking and fatigue. And the fact that the windshield wipers and canard extenders still work after 30 years of storage is not proof the -144 is "not all that bad". Piece of junk...always.
@j4cko56 I'm not being disrespectful; I believe YOU were the disrespectful one by calling me a "twat". Your claims of the -144's superiority were debunked with the facts (bad engines, bad fuselage design, etc.) and now I'm sad and disrespectful? The -144 was made as a political statement; rushed to be first in the air, it failed to perform in most key areas while the design bureau tapdanced to fix all the resultant problems. That is why they rust in parking lots, subject to insult via the facts.
@beeroosterm "Actually, the -144 was a serious piece of junk. If it wasn't rusting away, it would probably have crashed by now. It's better this way, believe me..."...you are honestly telling me thats not disrespectful...bloody hell mate grow up, your ego is quite clearly huge for some reason. Suppose you could find some kind of rubbish reasons why every Eastern aircraft is flawed couldn't you...
@beeroosterm will you say the same thing about concord? I hope not. In my case I don't want to spend hours crossing the atlantic ocean, which is the case with today's airliners. But if you are ok with that, next time keep in mind that cruise ships are also there so you can spend even more time travelling. and yet again when you sit on a modern airliner don't ever think that you are perfectly safe because you may not get a second chance
@Dosalt Have you been drinking? Concorde is done and gone. You can either travel on an airliner for 7 hours to cross the pond or travel by ship, which takes days. Nope - you're not perfectly safe in a plane, but it's pretty damned safe. You can sit home and do nothing if you like - I'm going to live my life...
for save this dream , give it to the famous French aviation muséum of Le Bourget (musee de l'air et de l'espace) , for the next generation, maybe one day he stay with a new paint just next the Concorde .
@Maciek00007 no właśnie... Rosjanie powinni dbać swój "skarb", jeśli można się tak wyrazić... ktoś powiniem ją w ostatniej chwili kupić, wyremontować i wrócić do swojego domku "za zwukowym barierom" :P
@scvs2 it needs expensive repairs and a lot of fuel to make this aircraft able to flight; Tupolev was suspended the flights on Moscow-Alma-Ata route because tests of new Kolesov engines were falied...;
Sadly, there are many examples of the TU-144 which are literally corroding and rusting away in dusty airparks, which is a travesty when the TU-144 is one of only TWO supersonic passenger aircraft ever built and flown and this was the first one to fly and break the sound barrier. Why aren't these in museums across the world? I would love to see one of these at the Steven Udvar-Hazy Museum in Virginia. Too bad many wouldn't be airworthy enough to even get there. Such a beauty.
@Neno8403 Finally a good question on the Tu-144, whose only salvation is preservation. I'm guessing the owners of these birds are too greedy, for they will never fly again - so why keep them to rust in parking lots? The last -144 to fly required a 350 million dollar restoration...
@alongthebluff , there are several reasons - situation inside the Ministry of Aircraft Industry, Tu-144 CCCP-77102 disaster in Le Bourget 1973.... It's difficult question
What a shame such a plane is just wasting away even if it is a copy of the real thing. Don't you have any national pride in Russia? Get it out of there and put it on show somewhere, Better still give it to the American and show them what they can't do, even now. At least they would appreciate it for what it is.
Of course we didn't do it because we don't live on a cold, tiny, wretched island and spend most of our days pondering quicker, easier ways to leave it.
don't worry. Some museums are trying to saved them.Others may be moved for research.Boeing and Nasa in the 90 have resurrected it and are flying it with different engines and improved structure.
oh my god!!! Technology still working? This is new video, isn't it??? I love this plane so much!!! Tu are the best planes in the world!!! Horoso braca Russi!!! Pozdrav iz Makedonije! :)
@FlorsiCarquinyolis- It will take more than just fixing the tyres and putting some fuel in it!!! It would probably take years to get that thing working properly again, if it has been sat outside for so long there will be so much corrosion etc. It may still have the odd things working but its probably far from airworthy! The Engines probably dont work either!
@747Kyle Look I was quite jocking, but if you remember the MiR Space station, that lasted so many years, and was used by USA and ESA together with the Russians, for a very long time after the Soviet Union colapse... Who'd knows!
Hi Kyle, indeed I was quite exagerated, I know, but since the story of the MiR Space Station was supposed to be old enogh as for the junkyard, but suddenly it helped space investigation to USA and ESA with Russians after the collapse of the Soviet Union for almost a decade. I wouldn't give any Soviet technology as death before it's proved.
Can you imagine this Tu-144, abandoned perhaps for more than 30 years on the frozen Russia with the FHS (FHP) and the nose still working...!?
@FlorsiCarquinyolis- I Honestly can't imagine how parts of this aircraft still work! It has been outside for so long in the freezing cold and almost no movement probably! They must have done some bits of work to it surely...
such a marvelous piece of engineering and workmanship, just sitting in some random backyard rusting, maybe one day someone will take it in good hands and once again she will see the sky like the mryia. they shouldnt be operating these flight controls without de-icing the aircraft, it can damage the systems.
well not all Concorde's are in a cosy museum and well some are but its not our fault we look after our piece of engineering but its the Americans to blame for the mistreat of marvellous creations what they could not make the tu.144 is actually in just as good condition in electrical area as the nose moves etc..
not all Concorde's do that any more i wish the tu.144 a better home for this great peice of engineering
it's funny because they didn't even keep the tu-144 they had flying in the 90s operational and preserved. It is rotting at the Tupolev HQ in Russia because they wouldn't sell because of the NK-321 engines. Why they could not just swap the engines with the older ones is beyond me. Us aviation fans have more passion for the aircraft than the people who built them.
This video shows the difference between Russia and Western Countries. This Tu-144 stands on the wind, snow and open sky, while Concordes are in cosy museums, they are clean and somebody cares about them. Poor Tu-144 that it has to spend the rest of its life in such conditions...
Well at least the Russians preserved the Tu-144 to be one day flown again(Tu-144LL) while the British and to a lesser extent the Frence(because of F-BTSD) pretty much did nothing to keep one in flying condition or at least keep one in extremely good condition.
dont pay attention to "bukovintaras " he's a tipical ukrain nationalist and he sinks that ukranian are hub of the universe, and all russians are stupid fucking gus who wants to slave them
Ahh, it's so fun to talk to hochol monkeys with their primitive kindergarden-spelling and extreme overconfidence. :)
Our administration is being reformed, our problems are being worked on. Our level of life has increased significantly compared to the 90's.
In any case, we will live longer than you - your rogue state owes money to EVERYONE. Your internal national conflicts are critical. Your politics are a joke. Your economics are fucked. Your women are World's #1 prosittues. So who's screwed?
The collapse of the USSR is what made it "independent". But do you really think your country's independent? You depend on Russian gas, American politics and European Union's demands. You also depend on Crimea, which will soon no longer be part of Hochlandia. Do you call THAT an independance? ;)
As I said earlier, your useless mammonth for a plane can be shot down pretty much by anything hundreds of kilometers away. Exactly like ukraine's actual recent "dreams", eh? ;)
So to conclude this, I once again repeat that ukraine has got nothing but a couple of crappy cargo planes. NOTHING. ;)
Fun fact: "Buran" programme (including "Mriya") is what killed Soviet Space Programme. Remember what I said about ukrs sitting on our necks..? ;)) Hahaha.
See? Your statements prove I'm right about Tu-144 not having any bonds with ukraine. Oh, and with your shitty spelling I might have misunderstood you, but - no, Mriya was funded by Soviet Space Programme and Military, by RSSR. And by the way, no - you're again wrong. Ukrs use Mriya as a corporate aircraft. We've got 'em too, but we use it in military, not to prostitue it for money :)
And if you're so proud of this plane.. Then tell me: how many Mriyas were produced? ;)
It was funded by - guess who? - corrrect! Soviet Military, with it's funding and support coming from Moscow. Fun fact: do you know why our Air Force doesn't care for the only couple of Mriyas we've got? Because they're perfect targets for pretty much anything: AA-guns, missiles, fighters, interceptors - you name it. Mriya was only good for the Soviet space shuttle programme. Now that the "Buran" is no more - there's no need for Mriya. So who's a faggy dumbass now?
Then how come there are no ukrainian fighter jets, bombers, etc? :D There were only ukrs in Antonov beroue, and they made a couple of crappy cargo planes. That's it. ukraine didn't do anything - Crimea and Malorossiya did.
With this logic, you may as well call Tu-160 a Kazakhstanian bomber. Ukraine has nothing to do with Tu-144, it was made in and by Russian Soviet Socialist Republic.
Пусть все знают! Что любой на первый взгляд Металолом! Это Трансформеры которые легко превращаются в прекрасных машин! Так Что АмерикоНцы... Завидуйте! Вы только что на видео увидели работающий Супер самолет который без проблем работает

DOBRI DIET :)
Congratulations RUSSIANS and SOVIETS!
I am sure by fixing the tires and putting fuel it will work again.
Quality design and construction as in MIR Station.
Is this in the city of KAZAN?
Thanks for the document and thanks for answering in advance.
SPASSIVA.
FlorsiCarquinyolis 2 years ago 2
@FlorsiCarquinyolis- It will take more than just fixing the tyres and putting some fuel in it!!! It would probably take years to get that thing working properly again, if it has been sat outside for so long there will be so much corrosion etc. It may still have the odd things working but its probably far from airworthy! The Engines probably dont work either!
747Kyle 1 year ago
@747Kyle Look I was quite jocking, but if you remember the MiR Space station, that lasted so many years, and was used by USA and ESA together with the Russians, for a very long time after the Soviet Union colapse... Who'd knows!
FlorsiCarquinyolis 1 year ago
@747Kyle
FlorsiCarquinyolis 1 year ago
@FlorsiCarquinyolis- I Honestly can't imagine how parts of this aircraft still work! It has been outside for so long in the freezing cold and almost no movement probably! They must have done some bits of work to it surely...

I like it! We would like to buy it....

such a marvelous piece of engineering and workmanship, just sitting in some random backyard rusting, maybe one day someone will take it in good hands and once again she will see the sky like the mryia. they shouldnt be operating these flight controls without de-icing the aircraft, it can damage the systems.
alesserfate 2 years ago
lol
well not all Concorde's are in a cosy museum and well some are but its not our fault we look after our piece of engineering but its the Americans to blame for the mistreat of marvellous creations what they could not make the tu.144 is actually in just as good condition in electrical area as the nose moves etc..
not all Concorde's do that any more i wish the tu.144 a better home for this great peice of engineering
concorde1350mph 2 years ago
it's funny because they didn't even keep the tu-144 they had flying in the 90s operational and preserved. It is rotting at the Tupolev HQ in Russia because they wouldn't sell because of the NK-321 engines. Why they could not just swap the engines with the older ones is beyond me. Us aviation fans have more passion for the aircraft than the people who built them.

Sistems of these CCCP-77107 is still alive, thanks to Aleksey Ivanovich, keeper of the plane and KAI lab. Its his archivement.
4ekb 2 years ago
how many times has that thing flown you think? you kinda get the point...
marxt4r 2 years ago
It flied over 1100 hours
4ekb 2 years ago
exactly... but still an amazing piece of history
marxt4r 2 years ago
This video shows the difference between Russia and Western Countries. This Tu-144 stands on the wind, snow and open sky, while Concordes are in cosy museums, they are clean and somebody cares about them. Poor Tu-144 that it has to spend the rest of its life in such conditions...
S7TDI77 2 years ago 5
we trying to give some warm for the planes... but its not enough.
our country ruled by people, who won't care about history, even destroy our memories
4ekb 2 years ago
Well at least the Russians preserved the Tu-144 to be one day flown again(Tu-144LL) while the British and to a lesser extent the Frence(because of F-BTSD) pretty much did nothing to keep one in flying condition or at least keep one in extremely good condition.

That's right, hochol, run away. Your brains are not capable of civil arguement. :)
DaveTE15 2 years ago 4
Ahh, it's so fun to talk to hochol monkeys with their primitive kindergarden-spelling and extreme overconfidence. :)
Our administration is being reformed, our problems are being worked on. Our level of life has increased significantly compared to the 90's.
In any case, we will live longer than you - your rogue state owes money to EVERYONE. Your internal national conflicts are critical. Your politics are a joke. Your economics are fucked. Your women are World's #1 prosittues. So who's screwed?
DaveTE15 2 years ago 3
The collapse of the USSR is what made it "independent". But do you really think your country's independent? You depend on Russian gas, American politics and European Union's demands. You also depend on Crimea, which will soon no longer be part of Hochlandia. Do you call THAT an independance? ;)
DaveTE15 2 years ago 3
Do you understand what you said yourself? :)
Remember what I said about ukrs sitting on our necks..? ;)) Hahaha.
DaveTE15 2 years ago 2
Then tell me: how many Mriyas were produced? ;)
DaveTE15 2 years ago 2
It was funded by - guess who? - corrrect! Soviet Military, with it's funding and support coming from Moscow. Fun fact: do you know why our Air Force doesn't care for the only couple of Mriyas we've got? Because they're perfect targets for pretty much anything: AA-guns, missiles, fighters, interceptors - you name it. Mriya was only good for the Soviet space shuttle programme. Now that the "Buran" is no more - there's no need for Mriya. So who's a faggy dumbass now?
DaveTE15 2 years ago
Then how come there are no ukrainian fighter jets, bombers, etc? :D There were only ukrs in Antonov beroue, and they made a couple of crappy cargo planes. That's it. ukraine didn't do anything - Crimea and Malorossiya did.
DaveTE15 2 years ago
And I wasn't talking to you either.
DaveTE15 2 years ago
With this logic, you may as well call Tu-160 a Kazakhstanian bomber. Ukraine has nothing to do with Tu-144, it was made in and by Russian Soviet Socialist Republic.
