Why did you pick Ken after using Ryu (same character)? With Ryu more Shoryukens could have been used to counter. I know its a hard command input in the heat of battle but its needed.

Picking Akuma vs Akuma seemed like a good idea but really thats a "I can't/don't know how to use anyone else effectively" cop out. I know because I was that way when I first started playing fighting games. dont do it. Learn another character.

He tends to alternate between the air and ground fireballs. So take the risk and jump in after he does the air fireball (as long as the distance is safe.) If he does another air fireball, you don't lose much, because like I said... it's his least damaging move. If you can get safe jumping ranges and can do one decent damage combo off a jump, you have what it takes to beat him. The rest is not panicking when he warps around, and not making mistakes.

Also, don't worry about his air fireballs too much. Notice that if you try to jump in and he counter with the air fireball, it does very little damage compared to all his other moves. You can afford to be hit by a few of those, whereas you can't afford to be hit by any of his other massive damage moves.

If you let him jump up, throw an air fireball and land, you're often safe to jump in and hit him with a simple 3 hit combo. Say, jump RH, crouch forward>Hadoken.

My advice for defeating the AI Akuma is to learn the range at which you can safely jump over his fireball, without him having the time to recover into a Shoryuken. The AI can seem unpredictable, but he likes to throw a lot of fireballs. He throws out the red fireball a lot too, which I think has a little longer recovery time.

Practice jumping in against the hard difficulty Ryu, for example, because he will always Shoryuken your jump attempts if you haven't gotten close enough. Use jump combos.
