The planet will survive - until the sun gives up on us, a few billion years hence. But the human race? it will last a while, on islands of survivability. I'm with scientists who who know their subject: Lovelock, Attenborough & others. We're locked into a 10,000 year cycle of climate change - whether induced by humanity or not makes little odds. But meanwhile I'd go for nuclear power: you can at least decomission a power plant. You can't decomission 10,000 years of climate change.
